After the blizzard, there are plenty of fun times in the snow! We take a look at some local snowmen along with sledding and snowboarding in New York City.
After a major snowstorm, it takes a lot of work to get things back to normal,
but many people are already having fun in New York City's winter wonderland.
NTD's Jar Marshall has some of their stories.
From Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn to the Great Hill in Central Park, Manhattan,
New Yorkers make good use of a snow blizzard by having fun in the snow.
Fort Greene Park looks like a snowman city after the recent storm.
Now that most kids are back in school and people are returning to work in the office,
you can find the parks to be very quiet, except for the faint sounds of laughter
where people are sliding down the bright white powdery hills.
And can you tell me about your board here?
I found it on the street. I haven't really snowboarded much,
but I think they're a lot easier to turn than these.
This is just like no control, just sliding down, just trying to balance on it without falling.
Yeah, whenever there's snow, we live in the neighborhood, so Fort Greene Park's great.
A lot of good sledding and good opportunities just to hang out with the community.
Mostly we're just going to do some sledding and try not to break any arms or anything like that.
Central Park in Manhattan's Upper West Side also has a couple of midday fun seekers.
Up on the Great Hill, another snowman city appears with the area very quiet
and dog owners bringing out their pups to jump around in the snow.
Yeah, the best thing is that I can hang out with my four-legged friends and enjoy the beauty.
It's like a sculpture land in Central Park and I'm loving it.
Well, I have school later today, but I'm making use of the snow before I have to go,
so a buddy gave me a sled, so I'm making use of snow as much as I can.
Be prepared to do some climbing anytime you go sledding in the snow.
Interesting thing is the stairs are super slippery in Central Park,
filled with ice, but if you stick to the side that is less traveled,
the soft ice is easier to grip on going up the stairs.
The longtime post-snowstorm tradition of downhill fun still continues in New York City.
A great way to have fun for free.
