In this video I try Cosmetic Acupuncture for the first time at Modern Acupuncture! Thank you so much to Modern Acupuncture for partnering with me on this video and giving me my first ever acupuncture experience!
Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice based in Chinese medicine that uses micro-thin needles to target specific points on the body to generate a healing response.
In this video I try acupuncture on my face! Cosmetic acupuncture or facial acupuncture has become popular amongst celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Meghan Markle, and Jennifer Aniston, as a botox-free face lift method. Acupuncture has been shown to help produce collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. Acupuncture is also great for stress relief, pain relief, relaxation, and sleep.
In this video I try cosmetic acupuncture for the first time and learn about the science and benefits of acupuncture!
Hello, beautiful people.
Welcome back to my channel, Sky Life,
where I explore the world of wellness
and try all sorts of health and lifestyle trends
and challenges.
Today, I'm going to be trying acupuncture
for the first time, which I am so excited about
because out of all of the things that I've tried
in the holistic health world,
I have not tried acupuncture yet.
And I actually didn't know that acupuncture
has so many different uses.
I thought it was just something that you did for pain,
but apparently, also, it is great for anti-aging,
for overall health benefits, for anti-stress, for beauty.
So that's what I'm gonna be trying today,
doing acupuncture actually in my face,
which is really an incredible no-tox beauty method
that I didn't know existed.
I'm here at Modern Acupuncture,
which is an amazing acupuncture brand
that is so relaxing.
I walked in and I was immediately so zen
walking into this space
and really excited to just give myself some pampering today.
I'm gonna be talking to Dr. Steve Gubernick,
who is a leading specialist here at Modern Acupuncture
about the actual science and research behind acupuncture.
And then I'm going to be getting my treatment.
So let the fun begin.
Let's do it.
Acupuncture is a natural, ancient healing practice
based in Chinese medicine
that has now been shown in the research
to be highly effective to treat a variety of conditions
and prevent disease as well.
Acupuncture uses micro-thin needles
to stimulate certain points of the body
where research has shown to be very effective
at targeting a variety of conditions.
So everybody knows acupuncture is great for pain.
What is also very beneficial is,
one, you can relax.
Two, it reduces stress, anxiety,
improves your sleep, improves your digestion.
A lot of the conditions that really respond
from activating the body's rest, digest, healing systems
really tend to respond great with acupuncture.
And that's really why it's lasted 3,000 years.
So our modern lifestyles,
they expose us to constant stressors.
You can't escape it.
What we've done here is built an environment
that puts you in the ultimate relaxation setting.
So it's a great antidote to our constant exposure
to chronic stress.
I'm a little nervous.
Don't be nervous.
These needles are virtually painless.
You're in great hands with our licensed acupuncturist,
Jenny.
She has a master's in Chinese medicine acupuncture.
She's one of the best there is.
Your skin looks amazing.
So whatever you're doing, I wanna do it.
So I'm on board.
So Jenny's gonna recline you in your zero-gravity recliner.
There's jade stone heat and massage,
so you're in the most relaxing chair you could ever be in.
Then she'll go into your treatment and get you glowing.
Yay!
I feel very safe here.
I already feel so zen.
So I'm just ready to get even more zen.
Let's do it.
When I first reclined in the fancy massage chair,
I was immediately put at ease
and finally felt like I could relax and just breathe.
Acupuncture is often applied to points all over the body,
but today I would be receiving
cosmetic acupuncture on my face.
Jenny began by inserting a needle to a point along my arm
to stimulate blood flow.
Is the first needle in?
I didn't even feel it.
I'm gonna look.
It's a little.
Okay, let's continue.
Now I'm just ready to go.
Just go for it.
Needle me up.
She then began applying the needles
to specific points on my face.
I could feel a gentle pinch when the needle would go in,
but it was not painful and started to create
a really nice, tingly sensation.
So right now, hopefully,
all of my premature wrinkles are fading away.
The needles only took a few minutes to apply
and was way faster than I expected.
I can see all the needles, like, in my peripheral vision.
It's so weird.
Like, what's on my face?
I already feel so relaxed,
yet there are a bunch of needles in my face.
It's just a weird dichotomy.
I don't know how that's possible, but it's possible.
I'm ready to pass out.
Ah.
After all the needles were inserted,
the only thing left to do was just relax.
I spent the next 20 minutes just drifting away
into a deeply meditative state.
While facial acupuncture is known for anti-aging
and preventative skincare,
it also regenerates the complexion
and can reduce acne, scarring,
and help even skin tone and texture.
Acupuncture can also help improve sleep
and promote an overall sense of well-being.
The part that people are probably less familiar with
is the beauty aspect of acupuncture,
using cosmetic or facial acupuncture.
You can use points along the face
to produce collagen and elastin
and the chemical we all have heard of
called hyaluronic acid to help rehydrate the skin.
But acupuncture is really effective
at releasing the body's natural painkillers
and feel-good chemicals, endorphins and enkephalins.
The other thing that the research has shown us,
which is really interesting,
is that when people are having an acupuncture session,
those stress areas of the brain
become calmed down and deactivated
and your rest and digest centers of the brain
that really reduce stress,
those areas become activated.
The third thing that it shows us
is that acupuncture is effective
at improving your circulation.
And anytime you can improve circulation to an area,
that's a strong healing response as well.
After 20 minutes was up, I didn't want to leave.
So how do you feel?
I feel like I want to keep lying here.
I'm so relaxed.
That's our biggest problem,
is getting people out of the chairs when they're done.
I don't want to move.
I feel like I can feel my face pulsing a little,
like I feel the blood flow,
like the blood circulation is noticeable.
So I think that's a good thing, right?
That's a great thing.
That's one of the ways that makes your skin
really look hydrated and healthy.
I feel like this is so necessary
to do things like this for yourself
more regularly than any of us do in our lives.
What a lovely experience.
That was so nice.
I feel so relaxed.
I really enjoyed my first time trying acupuncture.
And I definitely think this is something
that I can incorporate into
my overall holistic wellness routine
on a more regular basis.
