Alright guys, what's up? I'm so excited because I am finally back
in the mountains of North Georgia and I haven't been here
in years. But for those of you who are some like more OG fans of the channel
you know that I used to fish North Georgia a couple times a year
and I always loved it in here. So today and actually for the next two days I'm
gonna be fishing for some public water North Georgia wild
trout. At least that's the goal and I'm just running down the hill
right here right now just to catch my first Georgia trout in
several years. I haven't set up camp yet, haven't done
anything, but I will be camping here tonight
on this piece of public land. So anyways, I'm gonna shut up and try to
get down this mountain without falling or dropping my camera.
Alright ladies and gentlemen, I'm gonna hunt for my first Georgia trout in years.
We'll see what we can do. I'm gonna fish kind of quickly because
I only have probably two or three hours to fish today.
So I'm gonna fish pretty quickly but I'm gonna move through a bunch of this water
and just see what I can find. I'm just gonna be nymphing
with my Guideline rod, new Oro reel and then
Guideline LPX nymph. And I'm just gonna be moving through this
hopefully running into some trout. I guess that's the dream. Yes!
It's a rainbow trout it looks like. I'm gonna net it
even though it's small just because it's my first Georgia trout in like
three or four years. A little wild rainbow.
There's definitely bigger fish in here than this but
I just strolled up here. First time fishing this in forever.
And I have myself a little wild rainbow. It doesn't get much better than that.
Thanks little buddy. Oh there we go. Another little rainbow.
Eating a stone fly it looks like. At least the last couple fish I have he gone.
Another little rainbow. That's cool. Every time I think I'm like you know what
maybe I should get rid of the stone fly. Then a fish eats the stone fly.
It's kind of a big fly but I figured I'd try it just because it'll get down quick
in this faster moving water. It seems like it's working decently well at least.
Yeah that's a fish. Oh nice fish. Really nice fish. Whoa whoa whoa.
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. I just cast it over to that log over there.
I put on an egg because I thought maybe there might be some rainbow trout
spawning in this general vicinity. Like in this creek. Made sense and it
looks like there was one and he has gone hard into that.
Get just a little bit more leverage on this fish.
Eat the egg. That's cool man. Chill buddy. I know you're probably done aren't you?
Come on over here. Oh I can't quite get you get me get you across this break.
This current. Come across the current for me. There we go.
That is an incredible wild rainbow trout ladies and gentlemen.
Dude first day in Georgia. I'm living life man. That's awesome. Oh my gosh dude.
All right ladies and gentlemen. That is a perfect whoa whoa whoa. Chill buddy.
Just want to show you off for a second. Get you a breath of fresh air.
I'm going to hold you up for the camera. That is a perfect Georgia wild rainbow trout ladies
and gentlemen. Doesn't get much better than that. Wow what an awesome fish.
While you're watching the release of that awesome Georgia rainbow trout I'd like to say that this
video is sponsored by Guideline. I get tons of questions as to what rods and reels I use and
for about the last year and a half I've used Guideline. Guideline is a 30 year old Scandinavian
brand with rods designed by world champion anglers and trust me you can tell. These rods and reels
are legit and I genuinely love them and now they're in the U.S. for the first time in full
capacity through their USA company. What that means is they're coming to you tariff free. So
if you want to get a rod then check them out and use code Hardman Fishing for 10% off on the
website. In this video I'm using their new Aura Euro reel and the LPX Nymph rod in a 10 foot 6 3
weight and it's a top notch combo. I'll do a gear breakdown later in the video if you're interested
but for now let's get back into the action. Oh my gosh big fish big fish big fish oh my lord it's a
giant giant rainbow trout he's got so much stuff he can go into so much stuff he can go into if I
land this fish it's a miracle for so many different reasons giant rainbow there's a bunch of them in
there too honestly yeah come down here oh gosh honestly if you want to come out of this totally
yes giant rainbow trout oh my gosh I think I broke my whole rig too
that's insane guys that's a probably 20 inch wild rainbow trout look at the colors on that fish
unbelievable I'm pretty sure he ate the stonefly but he broke off so I'll never know
I was throwing a stonefly and an egg and my fly just went thunk thunk thunk set immediately I was
like I'm either stuck or I've hooked a giant unbelievable all right guys you ready to see a
giant north georgia public water rainbow trout dude chill buddy chill I know I know it's scary
out here chill buddy I know buddy good gracious stop it dude I'm not doing anything to you
look at that fish guys that's an incredible fish dude that's a this is a this is legitimately
like a world-class rainbow trout like anywhere in the country okay maybe not world-class I'm
being a little bit dramatic but this is like a big rainbow trout for just about anywhere
I've fished a lot of streams out west where if I caught a fish this big I'd have been thrilled
so yeah man um I guess we'll get this old girl released guy released actually it's a buck it's
a male and then we'll keep fishing maybe this is the first of many I don't know but I'm having
a blast sure buddy sure buddy chill chill all right I'm just gonna let him go thanks buddy
those fish just don't start don't stop swimming it's kind of crazy I don't know why I'm so close
to the water all right guys I decided to move on from those fish because I can always come back
tomorrow give them some time let them reset let them do their thing and tomorrow I'll roll in
anyways tomorrow I'll roll in and fish for them a little bit more and see if there's anything else
in there if there's anything that wants to play or to bite or whatever but good news is there's
some really nice fish in here and that means that there could be really nice fish in a couple
different places in here so that's always a good sign all right guys I see a fish right here it's
just laying underneath this log I genuinely don't know how I'm gonna cast to this oh he's slowly
moving up the creek it looks like I think I could maybe try to do a hail mary it's just really risky
yeah it's not gonna work all right write that down more big fish oh my gosh a big fish just
swam past me what the freak is happening here dude it's like a mass migration of big rainbow
trout are coming by that fish went underneath that log he probably won't bite because why would
he and I'm stuck oh he's sitting here freaking rainbow trout is swimming by me and that's even
worse actually might be able to get that all right note to self there's at least two big rainbow in
here now of course by the time it gets to morning this fish might be 30 freaking miles up the river
to the creek whatever so just because they're here now doesn't really mean too much oh my gosh
not one of them big ones but it's a nice little rainbow little wild fish ate the egg looks like
tell me rainbows like the eggs in the winter especially early winter
when these all these fish are probably mass migrating up this creek look at that it's a
nice little fish thanks buddy you're a king I want one triple your size but I'll take what I can get
right now I know there's a couple big fish in here it's the only reason I'm even casting still
to be honest with you oh another bite ah there must be a bunch of little fish in this hole because
I'm getting bites every cast just about oh I saw that fish eat it the fish came up and ate the fly
like a couple inches under the water almost like rose on it like it was a dry fly eater
ate the stone fly oh there he goes another one just about the same size as the other one
that was cool anybody else want to play I'll take it I'll catch fish like this all day long
another one dude they're stacked in this log they're not the big ones I know there's a couple
big ones in here those as I said wouldn't even cast it except I know there's some big fish in
here so it's like I feel silly passing it up I'm gonna remember this log for tomorrow chill buddy
relax all right it's time for me to skedaddle all right guys well I'm gonna call it there for now
I need to go walk back to my vehicle and then set up camp for the night before it gets totally dark
I wasn't actually planning on fishing this long but when you have holes like this in front of
you and you're seeing giant fish and catching 20 inch rainbow trout you kind of all of a sudden
start thinking you know who needs to sleep but anyways I'm gonna hike out of here and then I'll
go get uh camp set up and yeah I guess I'll see you guys back at camp wherever that may be all
right guys so I think that this right here is about to be my camping spot I mean look at this
for a second my gosh hold on hold on wait for it wait for it I mean I'm literally right here next
to the river to the creek so basically this is the greatest camp spot of all time so I'm going
to set up my tent really close to the creek here I know this is random but like I like to camp near
creeks or water because that I don't know the white noise like puts me to sleep or helps me
sleep better so but I know one thing for sure and it's that I need to set up my tent real quick so
I have some amount of light to even see what I'm doing so let's do it first we open up this wonderful
door hopefully the zipper doesn't get caught on too many things we step in first we have the crap
I didn't use then we have this wonderful bed okay so here's the deal guys most of the camping I've
done has been backcountry so it feels really nice to be able to like be that close to my car so
I have a pillow that I don't know I think I got this from Walmart this pillow which is Ozark
Trail which is definitely Walmart I have this like memory foam little pad which I don't know
where I got that then I have this Therm-a-Rest pad on top of the memory foam pad and then my
sleeping bag two pillows I mean it's pretty much like the most luxurious camping I've ever done
but basically I kind of figured since I didn't have to carry anything very far and I'm camping
like right next to my vehicle that I should sleep as comfortably as I can because I don't usually
get to camp this comfortably so anyways I'm going to try to get a fire started I don't think it's
going to be very easy just because it's so so wet out here but let's see if we'll see what we can't
do maybe I'll be able to find some dry wood underneath some of the rhododendron and stuff
around here so let's figure it out I was walking around looking for wood and look at this stuff
that is one big tree I don't know if you guys can tell but that is huge when that thing goes down in
the creek boy that's gonna be crazy all right guys so we're gonna boil this water here my meal
tonight is gonna be this mountain house with fettuccine alfredo and then I just put a pot on
the fire and I'm gonna make some tea as well which is stewing right over here or steeping
whatever it's called you know what I mean boil this water so we got food got drink we're looking
good all right guys I just poured myself some tea and I'm gonna eat my food looks pretty good I'm
not usually a huge fan of mountain house I like the other brand better or one of the other brands
better but I took a bite of and it tastes pretty good so it could just be that I'm hungry though
all right guys well I just relaxed a little bit and put the fire out and now I'm gonna
crawl in the sleeping bag and see if I can get some sleep good morning it actually rained all
last night so if I look like a goofball it's because I feel like a goofball because it rained
I'm not even gonna attempt to start a fire everything is soaking wet so what I'm gonna do
is I'm just gonna make some tea have an orange and then get my stuff ready and go fishing it's 7 a.m
but it's still really dark outside so I'm probably gonna have to wait another half hour or so before
I fish anyways so I might as well make some tea and make the best of it all right guys time for
a morning walk wait for the tea to be ready and we're back let's go check on the tea I mean it
looks like tea am I right pour it out and give it a taste that's how much it rained last night
not a ton but enough to be annoying all right guys so it's finally light enough that I can
use my actual camera let me get this off and it's like almost 6 7 45 something like that
I'm gonna leave camp here because I might camp here tonight I'm not sure it kind of depends on
how the day goes because I am meeting my buddy Cole tomorrow to fish a completely different
drainage so oh I don't know but I'm not worried about that right now what I'm gonna do is get my
wader set up and then I'm gonna go down and fish that same stretch that I fished yesterday and see
if I can't find some more big old North Georgia rainbow trout all right guys I fished this spot
a little bit probably 30 minutes or so there was three nice fish in here I could see moving around
but they weren't as active as they were yesterday or aren't as active as they were yesterday
and they're kind of like disappearing on me now I mean surely they don't know that I'm standing
here casting at them but maybe they did or do because I sure as heck kind of wasn't catching
any so I'm gonna move on and just fish up fish a bunch of new water and see if I can't find some
other big fish or just find a bunch of fish I don't really care either way so yeah let's do it
you guys believe the sun's coming out I don't even handle with such
incredible moments in a man's life is when the sun comes out after not seeing it for two days
I don't know that I can get past this by the way it's gonna be an interesting little trip
this is so deep I cannot believe I don't catch fish in that and I fished that twice now having
all right let's see if we can get through this maybe maybe not I might be able to just
walk across this that would be ideal oh cold you know what not ideal let's just grab this
line real quick and we'll just hop up around this rock and go across
oh my gosh something ripped the rod out of my hand almost felt like
you'd think there'd be fish on this good gracious this is horrible getting my butt kicked
I've been fishing for probably an hour or more now not one single bite that's actually not
trying to get one bite but that's about it oh dang dude finally got a bite missed it dang it
what am I stuck on even have to ruin this whole hole
so I'm stuck on some bull crap yay you know I still probably ruined the whole
standing over it like this but at least then I have at least a couple shots of
cast in there and see what I missed oh and now we know what we missed an absolute mega giant
I think this is the first fish today that I've got on film though so we're gonna
enjoy this moment an absolute magnificently huge wild rainbow thanks buddy at least I know what
was biting it's been rough out here guys I'm not gonna lie to you way worse today than it was
yesterday afternoon when I got here but we still have time so I'm gonna try to be optimistic and
catch another fish or two try some new stuff and
maybe still end up catching a big fish by the end of the day all right guys so I'm gonna go over the
rig I'm using for this video as you know the video is sponsored by Guideline but I've been using
Guideline for a year and a half or so now and they're like genuinely the best some of the best
rods and reels I've ever used I'm not just saying that but the reel I'm using today is this it's
their new Aura reel it's a uranything specific reel and it is just gorgeous I mean look at this
reel come on now that thing is so pretty and then I'm using the Guideline LPX nymph rod here it's a
10 foot 6 3 weight I believe and then for the flies I'm uranything just because it's winter
and this is usually the best technique although I think I could probably throw dry dropper but
I'm just gonna try to catch fish you know so anyways I'm using some sort of usually uh
this is a stone fly but some sort of stone fly on the bottom and then the upper nymph to be honest
with you I've changed every probably 15-20 minutes since I got to Georgia because I haven't found
something that's consistently working the only reason I've kept on these stone flies are like
that well this particular stone fly actually there's like two or three colors I've been
throwing is because it serves as like an anchor to get me down in these deep holes where these
fish are sitting so I'm just using a Portland uranything leader and then 5x tip it it's really
not rocket science I'm not doing anything special I'm just fishing hard so let's move on and see if
we can't catch some fish today oh are you kidding me it's like dude that's exactly where I want the
why is there always an overhanging tree where you want to cast oh gosh look there's stupid
rainbow trout just swimming around and I'm stuck in a stupid tree dude dang it dude
nice rainbow trout swimming around doesn't mean anything to me does it I mean they weren't big
they're maybe 12 inches something like that but still I've caught like one six inch fish today
and two 12 inch rainbow trout swimming around two or three of them and I'm sitting here like
stuck in a tree like an absolute buffoon oh yeah I got her nice and wrapped up too
only a pro could do that I've lost so many fish the jig screamer worked up
on the big one but it was a fish decent little rainbow it looked like
off the waterfall it's a nice rainbow too flip him up here let's go
let me get him up here so I can find a spot to put him in the water because I can't do it in
this roaring white water that's for sure we finally caught a rainbow trout bigger than
six inches on day two maybe wow what a beautiful fish man does it get any better than that guys
just perfect in every way say bye he now gets to live above the waterfall oops maybe I think he
just went underneath my foot felt something bump me oh that feels good I had a bite there maybe
oh I had two bites now dang the fish are really liking this jig streamer interesting yes no
there's a big fish see if he eats it again dang dude that was a nice rainbow trout
that blows he ate it I just didn't hook him yes got a big one not really a big one but I do have
a fish so oh he gone it's okay that's okay that's cool that was a fish I would bet there's probably
bigger fish in here than I'm catching just because I'm pretty sure this rock here on the right side
oh my gosh there's a fish right here what the heck is that fish doing you guys see that thing
right here right there that's a fish actually that looks like a sculpin or something that's
not like a trout casting out thinking it was a trout I'm just gonna let me walk up close to it
or not maybe that is a trout if it is it's a really dark black looking trout take my gopro
off and let you guys get a look at them you'll know what it is before I do as you can see I was
struggling to put together anything on day two I mean what a difference a day can make I decided
that I needed a break so I went back to pack up camp and have a snack all right guys this
tent site has been good to me but I'm gonna bail because the fishing here has just not been great
today I'm gonna try where I saw this big fish yesterday and this morning and one more time
before I leave but I'm gonna move locations and meet up with my buddy Cole tomorrow so
catch you guys back on the water in a minute so here's the deal after I took down camp I went back
to the place I'd seen the large fish the day prior most of the fish seemed to have left with the
exception of the second hole I'd seen fish in the night before I think the fish were actively moving
up the creek and then if I'd really wanted to find more fish I would have needed to have moved up the
stream further but what I decided to do was just sit on these handful of fish that I could see
under the log until I could make something happen I had struggled so badly that day that even finding
some fish I could cast at was a blessing luckily it didn't take long for things to heat up
oh my gosh I just lost a big one how did I lose that oh I didn't see the fish that I hooked
I'm gonna try a streamer real quick because those fish are sitting right that log that's the only
thing I can think of that's like heavy enough I should be able to jig it like as soon as it
hits the water and be able to jig it and maybe they'll see it and come out and eat it
for the shot I can't believe I already had one eat I lost it because I'm I don't really know
why I lost it actually I'm not gonna blame myself this is the jig streamer it's been killing it
today it's gonna cast down here and kind of it's good all right we're recording see if one of these
fish comes out after this thing or not not quite problem is the fish are sitting with their heads
so stuck up in that log it's gonna be extremely difficult for them to see it and eat it oh he's
coming at it oh he followed it for so long but didn't eat no that sucks man I'm casting for him
one more time real quick oh he wants it so bad please buddy oh he wanted it so badly but didn't
quite commit I'm shaking that was a giant rainbow trout all right guys I put on a little black jig
streamer the fish are still sitting underneath that log but last time I threw a streamer in
there they moved out so it's been a few minutes so I'm gonna try to do that again I'm gonna reel
up some of my slack because I don't need that much I don't want to get stuck on something
the fish actually were to eat oh my gosh he missed it or I pulled it out of his mouth I don't know
which one okay streamers definitely the key I love streamers baby I'm gonna give it a couple
minutes and then do that again I don't want to keep doing it back to back because I don't want
to spook them oh my heart is racing he rolled on it and just missed all right guys the fish are kind
of in a good position so I'm going to try the streamer again hopefully they actually eat it
there's two or three really big fish under this log please eat it buddy buddies where'd they go
oh I see him got him got him got him just slid down the whole thing and that's stuck come on
buddy be nice to me let me land you oh my gosh he ate the streamer I can't believe it chill buddy
chill chill chill chill where's he going I'll go down here that's fine don't go to a log as long
nope come on back this way nope nope nope nope no no nope not ready okay okay okay
come on buddy let me just turn your head turn your head up up I said up dude
no no no yes dude giant rainbow trout yes yes yes on a streamer
dude I have such an adrenaline dump right now I feel like I'm about to throw up I legitimately
feel like I'm about to throw up that thing is gigantic it's so much bigger than the fish I
caught yesterday holy cow guys look at the size of that fish with that stream in his mouth
oh my gosh I don't even know what to do per se all right guys just caught my biggest ever
Georgia rainbow trout um caught him on one of Andrew's jig streamers we've caught big fish
across the country on those streamers and we can now add Georgia to the list and this might be
the prettiest rainbow trout I've ever caught so hopefully this fish is nice to me
take a look at him look at that oh my gosh that is just insanity
just wow well guys I think that's gonna about do it for this video because a 23 inch
rainbow trout like that looks like that in Georgia public water is like
hard to come by so I don't know how I'm gonna do better than that to be honest with you guys
I might fish a little bit more but I just wanted to thank you guys so much for watching
if you enjoyed this like camping style exploration style video leave a comment
below and let me know and yeah there's gonna be more Georgia videos coming in the next
day coming days or weeks so if you haven't already make sure you're subscribed and
yeah I'll catch you on the next one
