Set on a windswept hill in the suburb of West Hobart, the building steps down the slope that allows expansive views of the city and River Derwent. Hey guys, today I am in Hobart and I've got to say Tassie has turned on the weather today.
It is an absolute stunner. I'm about to take you around the Farmhill House and it has some
of the most epic views I've ever seen. So come on, let's get inside.
How insane are those views? Looking out over Hobart, it's pretty special. You've got a door
here leading you to your garage and then these amazing concrete steps bringing you into your
epic open plan kitchen, living and dining. There is really nice timber detail throughout,
awesome cabinetry here, a little bit of storage for your glasses. So you can have a bit of a bath
scenario here, pour your guests a drink when they're sitting up to the table. But speaking
of dining, what is this? That timber detail is really nice wrapping around the island bench.
It kind of signifies the area where you want to be eating and drinking and chatting to whoever's
in the kitchen. This kitchen just feels so good. It's so incredibly light. You've got so much light
coming from the windows, but can you see this window detail here? That's really smart because
there aren't actually any windows on this side of the home. So that's bringing even more light in
here. There's like so much storage everywhere. It's pretty insane. Plus you've got an integrated
dishwasher. That's really cool. Beautiful hanging light. But how's that pivot door leading you into
your scullery? And it's massive. You've got fridge, you've got appliances, heaps of storage for the
food. And then can you see up here, an amazing skylight. So these owners obviously had kids
in school because tell you what, there's some pretty good lunchbox treats in here, but I'm not
going to steal food from their lunchbox. Might take a cheeky cracker. Into your living area,
an amazing fireplace here. L-shaped couch. Casually looking out over Tassie. A little
window seat here. Another place to just chill. It's, oh, it's very sunny here. I could imagine
myself just spending the afternoon here with a cup of tea. Plus more storage. Kids toys. Hide them away.
We're going to go outside. Read your papers out here in the morning.
Pretty special. Another epic pivot door leading you into the master bedroom. Let's go.
This home is all about that view. Every room celebrates that view. Plus I like this because
you've got PowerPoints here, a spot for charging your mobile. You've got books in there. And around
here, you walk in rope. Very handy, but oh my God, wait. The most epic bathroom. I'm talking
huge shower here. Storage. Plus again, storage, double sinks. Look at this. Custom towel rail and
modesty kind of panel because this is where your toilet is. That is a well-placed toilet.
Let's keep going. Okay. We're in kids' den territory. This is where the kids get to hang
out. Pretty cool. And what is that? I love this space, but it's not just for the kids because
look at this epic outdoor entertaining area. Massive barbecue. Huge. You've got a sink there
as well. This has got epic party pad vibes. Opens right up. You've got a fire pit through here.
And how much money do I get if I get this in? All right. No promises. Nearly. I can see that
there's kids' bedrooms through there. Let's go take a look. These stairs, so sexy. Plus massive
laundry. This is absolutely huge. Plus you've got your own drying station here, which is pretty
special. And look, it's Casey. You need to have a nice sort of area to dry your clothes inside.
Heaps of storage. This is good. Downstairs is where the energy's at. Amazing brick details
throughout. Kids' bedroom time. He's a very lucky dude. This window seat's pretty awesome. Plus,
I mean, this cushion says it all. We're in girls' territory now. Look at this beautiful room. And
instead of a window seat, she's got her own inbuilt desk, which I think is actually pretty
cool. Because if you had to do homework, you probably wouldn't do it if this was your location.
A very generous bathroom. Huge bath, another epic shower. This is pretty special.
Got another powder room through there. So that's important. I mean, two kids.
No one to fight over who's getting ready in the morning. We're going back up.
Speaking of powder rooms, I forgot to show you this one.
Very moody. Gorgeous. I love it. Again, timber, black, brick. So good.
All right. I'm going to make myself a drink.
Love that door. If I'm to describe this home to you, I'd call it like an introverted extrovert
because it's incredibly private, which is amazing because it's insanely exposed to that
amazing view. But I say extrovert because there are amazing places to just hang out and entertain.
And there's so many different areas to enjoy this amazing location. And I mean, we've got to talk
about its location. We're really high. We can see Mount Wellington behind us. We are in West Hobart
and the views just look out over pretty much all of Hobart. It's pretty amazing. Over the Derwent
River. It's just insanely beautiful up here. But if you're up on top of a hill, the thing that
happens, you do get some brutal weather elements happening. So what they've done to counteract that
is that they have created a few different zones for their outdoor entertaining spaces. Because
to be honest, the wind direction will change. And at certain times of the day, it might be
nicer to hang out at the front versus the back of the house. So it's really smart that they've
done that to allow you different options so that you always are able to enjoy some time outside.
So the living spaces, and I mean, to be honest, all the spaces in this home, there's just an
incredible flow and also functionality. There are lots of different areas and pockets to enjoy.
Really simple but clever window seats. There's different areas to hang out. The cabinetry is
amazing. There's just every single corner of this home has been considered. And I really like that.
The windows as well. I mean, obviously they celebrate the view, but you know, there have
been a couple that are strategically placed around the home just to allow much more light to come in.
There's that amazing skinny little angled window detail in the kitchen, which I absolutely love.
It's a really beautiful feature. There's that incredible skylight in the scullery, which
punches a lot of light into that space because it is quite a dark space. And then there's really
well-placed windows in the bathrooms as well. And pretty much every single room gets to celebrate
that epic view. In terms of the interiors, I love the color palette of this home. It's
really neutral, but it's also incredibly warm. There's a lot of black. There's a lot of exposed
light brick. There's also a lot of timber as well. It's been used really well. Like it's not
over the top in any particular way. It just feels complete. I love that they've integrated that
exposed brick throughout. You can kind of feel that throughout the home. It has a really lovely
texture to it. Really lovely texture. And the way that they've used timber and they've used timber
with some of the custom storage and cabinetry, and even that pendant light in the kitchen. It
just adds this really nice, rich detail to the interiors, which I love. I like the different
separation of this home because on the upper level, I mean, that's where they get to hang
out. That's their special retreat. You've got the kitchen, the dining, the living area. You've got
that beautiful powder room, but then that amazing pivot door leading you into the master bedroom
and that master bathroom. I mean, I love that they've just got their own level to enjoy.
But then downstairs, that's kid's zone. That's like epic kid's territory. There's a lot of energy
down there. It changes as well. The color and tone changes. It's very light and white and bright.
Up here, it's a bit darker and moodier, a bit more sexy. But downstairs, it's all about fun,
energy, lifestyle. You've got the barbecue area. You've got the fire pit outside. You can shoot
hoops. How good is that? It's just set up to practice. I might need to do more practice because
I didn't nail the shot. But I love that you can just shoot hoops on the top of a hill looking
out over Hobart. I mean, it's amazing. The kids actually have amazing bedrooms as well. I'm pretty
jealous of those kids' bedrooms. They're awesome. Both of those rooms, I mean, they're a little bit
different. One with the window seat, one with the inbuilt desk. I like that they've got their own
sense of space. And that bathroom with a separate powder room, I think is really clever because
kids growing up, all I remember is fighting for the bathroom. So it's always good to have
two different spaces there. The laundry's massive and heaps of storage. Again, this whole home,
I mean, there's just heaps of storage. So it's functional. I've got to admit, I love this home.
The only thing I'm devastated about is that I can't stay here long enough to enjoy that view
as the sun goes down. Hey guys, thanks for watching. I hope you enjoyed this West Hobart
home tour. Let me know what you think in the comments below. Like and subscribe. We've got
