The conception of this project began with a meticulous analysis of its unique location.
Situated on a 100 square meters plot of land at Praia do Capricornio in Caraguatachaba,
the site is part of a subdivision from the mid-1970s and has been in the Klein's family
Their primary intention was to create a new summer house that would serve as a comfortable
and low-maintenance gathering place for the entire family during weekends.
The entire house was designed using reinforced concrete, with its structure intended to minimally
interfere with the spatial layout.
The upper floor comprises a large integrated living room and kitchen, a bathroom with a
walk-in shower, and an uncovered outdoor space that enjoys constant sunlight.
The kitchen, located on the upper floor, is designed to be an integral part of the communal
living space, emphasizing openness and connection to the surrounding natural beauty.
Its layout and features reflect the project's core principles of comfort, practicality,
and seamless integration with the environment.
The kitchen is part of a large, integrated living area that encourages social interaction
and flexibility.
This layout allows for easy movement between cooking, dining, and relaxation spaces.
For this project, concrete was used for the perimeter walls and facade, with an in-situ
curtain system, along with raw brick featured in cabogos and a spiral staircase leading
to the upper floor.
These primary elements, combined with common masonry internal partitions, strategic glass
openings, and wooden window frames, brought the house to life with brutalist and modernist
touches that exemplify the architectural style cherished by the designers.
Strategic openings and pathways are designed to bring in ample natural light and ensure
proper ventilation.
The bedrooms, located on the first floor, are designed to offer comfort, privacy, and
a strong connection to nature.
The design of these intimate spaces aligns with the project's core principles of material
authenticity, natural light, and practical layout.
Each bedroom faces a central landscape courtyard, bringing nature into the living space.
This design choice not only provides a calming and serene environment, but also offers pleasant,
views of greenery, fostering a sense of tranquility.
On the first floor, the design created a comfortable and spacious area with ample natural light
and ventilation despite being enclosed on three sides.
The bathroom is designed to complement the overall aesthetic and functional goals of
the summer house, providing convenience, comfort, and a seamless connection to the natural surroundings.
The bathroom is equipped with modern fixtures that balance functionality and style.
High-quality materials and finishes ensure durability and a touch of luxury, aligning
with the overall design ethos of the house.
Strategic openings and pathways ensure the space remain pleasant and inviting.
This floor houses the four suites, two with shared bathrooms, facing a central landscape
courtyard, bringing nature into the building.
Additionally, the main circulation path extends from the entrance door to the access staircase
leading to the upper floor, with a technical area near the entrance featuring cobblestones
for privacy and light and ventilation entry.
This inversion worked well for a weekend house, creating a pleasant, airy, and bright upper
floor with views of the sea, mountains, and treetops, fostering a connection with nature.
The challenge posed by neighboring buildings and limited land space was met by inverting
the typical spatial configuration, placing the intimate area on the first floor and the
common area on the upper floor.
