Thank you, Mr. Speaker. House Bill 648 is a continuation of the work that this body did
last year by strengthening our laws to provide fair and reasonable protection
for our state's class 7 and 8 heavy duty truck dealers. Mr. Speaker, rather than go through this
whole page of notes I got, I'm going to give you the Reader's Digest version. We passed this last
year and we want to close some loopholes. This is only dealing with dealers that are dealing in
7 and 8 class. In other words, think Peterbilt, think Mack, think a semi-truck. And so what's
happening is when these dealers are selling these trucks and then they say have a transmission go
down, the company that manufactured the truck, whatever company that may be, is saying well
that's on the component company that manufactured the transmissions. The transmission company is
saying Kentucky law does not say that components have to honor the warranty that those should be
honored by the manufacturer. All this does is close the loopholes to make sure our big truck
dealers here in Kentucky are getting paid and compensated fairly for the work they do on
warranty work for vehicles they sold. With that, Mr. Speaker, if there's no questions,
I would move passage of House Bill 648.
