Highlights of the third round of the 2026 Joburg Open saw Casey Jarvis shooting a third round 64 as he looks to become the third player to ever win three consecutive DP World Tour events, he would join Sir Nick Faldo and Seve Ballesteros if he wins.
Bradbury here. Normally an extremely good iron player. Oh my goodness. He's a good iron player but
that's exceptional. What a bonus that is. It's just about to say how nice he turns left and low
for a big guy. He glides through the ball a bit like Shane Lowery in a way but I didn't
expect it to drop in there. Stop it. Lewis Johnson down the hill at the third. What a beauty.
Marcus Armitage. Don't think he likes it. Didn't look particularly happy did he? I don't know why.
It's a really good shot to that front flag from where he was. Dan Bradbury. He's better than
average this week in his approach shots. Stunning little shot. Hanni Duplessis off the bank at the third.
It's also not that easy but he does have quite a lot of green to work with which does help.
And he's played a sensational shot. Wow. Terrific. Very tasty and after the birdie birdie start
wasn't far away from three in a row was it? Tony he's got everything. But he hasn't got your looks.
Thankfully. And he taps in. Well done. Nice save. He's one big lad isn't he? Son of Peter Townsend.
Ryder Cup player in days of yore who was not particularly tall and that is the best we've
seen today by a mile. Unbelievable tee shot. Jack Hawksby. A nice pitch shot over the trees has
set up this birdie opportunity and he's had a little teach here from Albertson.
Albertson expected his putt to break a bit more.
So you think this one may be a ball outside left at decent speed.
About there. About there. Beautifully holed. Hello? Just a couple of inches away from
holing out for an eagle to Jack Hawksby. And a nice putt there to come uphill. Hawksby
up the slope for a birdie to get 10 under and within two. Now is that putter behind the ball
or is it the fringe just in the way of fractions makes the backstroke a little steep here. A little
steep. So this will have a bit of pace on it. It doesn't matter. Straight in the middle. A bit of
over spin. How about that for a start? We said it's a big weekend and what a start that is. Two
birdies in the first three holes. He could easily have made it three straight. Well we saw Jayden
Shaper leave himself nothing at all. So I would imagine that the short one is the is the play. I'm
not sure that was the play for Bradbury. That looked like it came out a little low but he's
done the job. Well that's a big move from seven to nine. Beautiful drive here from Alex Fitzpatrick
at the eighth and an even better second shot. That's the way to play this hole. Now we found
the bunker off the tee which is very unusual for a takey to be a club long. So this would be a huge
bonus. He could roll this in for his three. He's good. Oh he's good. He's very good. He does save
some shots around and on the greens. Oh that that is a phenomenal up and down because where he was
in that bunker I gave him no chance of making a three but look at this putt. It was just an awkward
spot wasn't it. Oh my word. That's unbelievable from a lie like that. That is just world class.
Slightly up the hill. Nicely hold. Very much still in this Casey Jarvis.
Most certainly is now.
I never heard him call that before. A couple of changes of
slope and levels here. You can see the light and the dark. Oh my goodness.
You would not have put money on him holding that. That is a great putt. Some front nine that isn't
it out in 33. How'd he do it? Just a couple of birdies. Dropped a double in there as well.
Impressive really. Great comeback. Lovely balance. Let's see if he's going to get it up to the flag
here. Yes he has. That's a fine shot at this. One of the best we've seen at this ninth hole.
Now to the serious business. Du Plessis at 12. This to get to 11 under and once again Du Plessis
rolls it right into the middle of the cup. This man can putt. Du Plessis. What do you reckon Hazy?
Inside 12 feet? Absolutely. Well inside 12 feet. Stop. No maybe not. Good shot.
Nice uphill putt too. So Du Plessis for five birdies in a row and to move ahead of Brandon
Robinson-Thompson. And just about he's charging you know. And he Du Plessis. He moves to 13 under.
His putting has been sublime. It truly has. Now Robinson-Thompson at the 17th.
The old 17th excuse me. It's now the 11th. Whoopsie daisy. Lovely.
Donny Fantonda with that rigid left arm of his. He uses that on all shots but it seems to work.
He is a good chipper. That's a little bonus. I'm not sure he isn't double jointed you know.
Almost. Yeah absolutely. It actually kinks the wrong way doesn't it. He's been in good spirits
recently. He's got this old putter not used there back in his bag. Very comfortable on home soil. 13
sunshine tour wins. Interesting isn't it. Left thumb on top of the the right hand makes it
moves forward. Alex Fitzpatrick two behind. Cheeky flag really. Very close to the penalty
up on top of this ridge. Go on in you go. Going over water this could be a little nervy.
Oh he's given it everything he has and I think he got a decent strike on it.
Oh that is a beauty. That really is a beautiful golf shot. Casey Jarvis. Another birdie opportunity.
Oh yes. 11 under. Shaper. Just a little flick with the wedge at the 17.
And come on. Accelerate down the slope. Keep going. Keep going. It's a lovely leave isn't it.
Just catches the right edge. A timely time to just nudge one in that right hand side
and all of a sudden people see Karaki. I hope Wichita puts the divot back.
Little draw.
That is fantastic. I think if he'd put a handkerchief where that ball's landed that's
what he was aiming at. Brilliant shot. Such an awkward shot. Has to play this almost perfect
to get this close. And you know what? He has John. Yeah that's excellent isn't it.
What do you think Dale? Miss or make? I think he's going to make it.
For the start of just outside the left. Oh was that in the middle or just in the center?
Beautiful putt there by Jarvis. In the group of 12 on depart. After a round of 70 out there today
and it will be the South African Henny Duplessis who takes a two-shot lead into the final round
of this year's Joburg Open from Wonderful Houten. Henny, tremendous round my friend.
What's that? 10 birdies, two drop shots for a round of 62. How do you assess that?
Yeah I mean you know I hung in there. Got it going as well. Yeah just very pleased with the
way I was striking it. The way I'm putting. Especially when you know when you've played
27 holes today to come back in the last 18 holes. Yeah it was it was nice. I mean coming back in 29
shots it looked like you were cruising but then all of a sudden you just put the afterburners on
and made those five birdies in a row. Yeah I mean I think this the front nine I struggled to get
going. I started with two birdies but you know I struggled to to find some momentum after the
third hole. You know even though I made a good up and down you know I didn't feel like I really
started the ball on line from the tee. But yeah I found something on the back nine you know on 10.
It's a nice tee shot if you get a lucky bounce and I had it in the rough and it actually for
the first time I saw my ball bounce so I think that sort of gave me a little bit of momentum.
Hit a great five iron just short and great chip to make a birdie on 10 and I think that sort of
maybe started the momentum. Then yeah hit a lot of lovely tee shots, second shots and
thankfully I put it well. It's always nice to put well. Now let's talk about it's final day tomorrow
last day. You were SA open last week and you're a final group with Casey Jarvis. You're going to be
in the same position. Anything you might do differently to try and get over the line?
No I think I do exactly the same things you know. I think I still played well. I think I still shot
four under par or three under par at the SA open final round you know and you know if you shoot
under par in a final round that should get you close to a number. So I'm just going to stick
to the same thing. Stick to my process. You know have a good warm-up and take it from there.
Is it always nice to feel like loosey-goosey? I mean you've been riddled with injuries. Is it nice to feel
footloose and fancy free? Yeah unfortunately I've had a bit of a flu this week so
not that great. No but I mean I'm feeling good. No injuries. I'm fit
so just happy to be back in competition. Good man honey. All the best my friend. Cheers. Thank you.
