Inside this 1969 time capsule house, everything looks almost exactly the way it did when it was built. This former model home sat untouched for decades and remained vacant for seven years after the original owners passed away.
In today's video, we explore a rare time capsule house built in 1969.
This is not a time capsule because it is filled with abandoned belongings, but because the house itself has never really changed. The kitchen, bathrooms, finishes, flooring and design all remain almost exactly as they were when the home was first built.
Back in the early 1970s this house was actually used as a model home for the neighbourhood developer, showcasing what buyers could expect when the subdivision was first built.
The original owners lived here for nearly fifty years until they both passed away around 2018. After that the house sat vacant for roughly seven years while the family dealt with the estate and probate process.
In 2025 the property was finally sold as-is following an estate sale.
Walking through the house today feels like stepping directly back into the late 1960s.
If you enjoy exploring forgotten places, abandoned homes and real time capsule discoveries, you’re going to love this one.

Okay guys, welcome to this house.
So here's the story with this house.
Some very good friends of mine actually bought this house and they're going to
gut it and they're going to build their own custom house around the bones of
this house here. And what did they do? Because my friends are awesome.
So they have invited me to come to the house and they've offered the house to me
to walk around and bring it to you guys,
the people, because it has one owner.
This is a one owner house since likely the 1970s.
We've got hilarious wallpaper, curtains, shag carpet,
everything in this house. Guys, let's quit talking and get to it.
Say thanks to my friends for letting us come here and check this house out.
Let's get right to it. Cue the music, cue the intro.
See you guys on the other side.
In
today's video,
we get an exclusive look at an old time capsule house from the late 1960s.
I don't mean a time capsule in the sense that it is filled with contents.
What I mean by time capsule house in this case is that the house has not been
changed since it was built in 1969.
This was actually one of the model homes in this neighborhood back in the 1970s
used by the developer to showcase for buyers originally built in
1969.
This home had one owner until around 2018 when the owners passed away.
While the family dealt with the estate, the home sat vacant for seven years.
In 2025 there was an estate sale and the home was then sold as
Okay. So we're going to start here in the foyer. As I like to say,
all right, show you guys the front door here.
It's weird when they put the doorknob right in the middle of the door,
but I don't know what's going on here. I feel like I know that they had dogs.
This, this might very well just be from the dogs.
They must've been really big dogs sticking their noses there to smell outside to
see when mom and dad are coming home.
So let's have a little pan here and take a look at our foyer. Very nice.
Look at the wallpaper. And then we're going to zoom up here a little bit more.
We have the wallpaper and then we have the light fixture here as well.
Also a floral print. So we have lots of wallpaper.
We have lots of interesting light fixtures. Look at this one.
I told my friends today when we got here,
you guys might want to keep some of these light fixtures and things and to keep
them for yourself or sell them or donate them somewhere.
Cause I know a lot of people love these old retro light fixtures.
So here we're going to have a look down here at the floor in the foyer.
This house has been vacant for seven years, guys,
seven years, one owner. All right.
So we're going to move our way into the kitchen here and you guys will see as we
go through the theme of wallpaper and original
decorations and design from
1970s, I believe there's another lovely light
fixture right there. Very dusty, but very nice.
I think we still have power. Let's have a look here. We've got let's have a look
here and see. Yep. There we go. We do have power,
but it is more interesting in my opinion when the lights are off,
but I will show you guys what the lights look like as we go through.
So here's your kitchen. Very old dishwasher, man. That's an old dishwasher.
Look at that. Oh, it's very dirty inside too. All right.
So the wallpaper in here is this, uh,
I need you guys to tell me people who know things that I don't,
what kind of flowers are these? I have no idea. Uh,
here's the curtains. Like I said, this house has been vacant for seven years.
So you've got quite a bit of dust build up on top of the curtains here.
What's nuts though,
guys is that this house has been sitting here vacant in this neighborhood for so
long, for seven years.
And like it makes me wonder how many houses like this are just sitting in
neighborhoods vacant that I could be exploring possibly even with people's
permission. Actually, that's a good point.
Anybody who lives in Southern Ontario and maybe even New York state,
upstate New York,
if you have a property that you don't use and you want someone like me to come
in and do fun things there, drop me a line. I'll come by and visit.
So curtains, wallpaper,
and then the flowers get bigger. So here you have the flowers on this wall.
And then on this wall, they're massive. They're really,
really big on this wall. And then we have a telephone.
Unfortunately the power, there is no phone. I tried, uh,
I tried to see if maybe I could phone somebody, but it didn't work. So,
so here's a look at your kitchen before we move on into the dining room area.
I am going to go slower here and you want to see this light turned on here.
Here we go. Oh, that one doesn't work. Oh no, wait,
maybe it's over here. Maybe it's this one. Let's see guys.
What happens now? Nope. That is here. That is that light.
Um, no, we don't have a light here, guys.
We got no luck with this light right here. I'm so sorry. All right,
here we go. Dining room. Wow. Look at the wallpaper guys.
We love this kind of wallpaper, don't we?
We love houses with this kind of decorating. Oh, look at how dusty it is.
This is a pretty fun video for me guys,
because my last few videos I've been going a little bit more professional
documentary style, but this is just a good old school,
old fashioned video of a beautiful 1970s era
time capsule house.
We're going to have some fun with this one and just going to do my usual
ranting and raving and talking and driving you guys nuts with showing you
everything and pointing out everything and being loud and obnoxious because
that's sometimes the way I like to be. Check out this light here, eh? Woo.
Okay. Where is, Oh, there it is. Okay.
I think I found the turn the light on here guys right here. Okay.
Let's see. No. Oh, there we go. There we go.
Down and up, down and up. Okay. There you go.
Very nice. So let me slow down again. I know I've been going fast.
I'm very excited to be here today. All right.
So we have the math, the matching curtains to the wallpaper.
Oh, they got dusty. It is. Ooh. Yep.
Matching wallpaper and curtains. Crazy.
This would have been a great room as a family to sit in. Hey,
and have your dinner.
And then you make your way over here into the sitting room. And, uh,
there used to be a big piano in here. If I remember two guys,
I will overlay some photos from the real estate listing that my friends sent me
that showed all of the furniture and stuff that they had in this house when they
lived here. And again, it's crazy because for seven years,
what you're about to see on the screen has been sitting here in this house,
vacant and unused.
And my friends had said that they really wanted me to come in and be able to see
the house with all the stuff in it, but that never ended up happening.
Unfortunately,
the prior owners took everything out before my friends took, uh,
took, um, over the property. So anyway, so we got a fireplace here.
There's two, there's one in the basement as well. So here you go. Very nice.
Everything's nice and centered in this house right here.
So you walk right through into your dining room area. All right.
So we've seen the foyer, we've seen the kitchen,
we've seen the dining room, we've seen the living room.
So now we're going to move on to the bedrooms.
There's two bedrooms on this side of the house,
but first we have to admire these panels.
And my friends who bought this place said that there used to be candles hanging
from these panels here. Very, very nice. All right,
here we go onto the other side of the house. What's this? Oh,
that's for that one there too. Okay, there you go.
All right. On we go. Now there's the bathroom. I'm going to save the bathroom.
Okay. We're going to go over here first. I'm not going to show you the bathroom
yet. Nothing much really in this room except for the, uh,
the curtains here that they have shoes on them from the
outside in the hallway.
I actually thought that these were iguanas or some kind of fish,
but no, they are shoes.
So that's really it for this room.
It's got a nice green to it, but not much to see in this room.
So we're going to move on to the master bedroom. Now this is a very nice,
um, light cover, even though there's no light in here.
I guess this must go to one of the plugs on the wall. Okay.
We're not looking at the bathroom yet. Don't look at the bathroom yet.
Master bedroom guys. Shag carpet. Look at this.
Look at the carpet that has been in this house for so long.
Wow. There's your curtains, your drapes.
So nice. Wow.
And then here is very much likely where the bed was. And then you've got, yeah,
you can see there was a bed stand right there and there was another one there.
And then they had something hanging above there. So here's where the bed was.
This is some gorgeous looking, uh, uh, art,
wallpaper, whatever it might be. Then there's that carpet guys.
Just so you know, I'm not bad talking. Whoever lived here, this is the style,
right? This was the style when they bought the house and they stuck with it.
They committed. Okay. Another bad, we had a bathroom here.
I'll show you this bathroom first. Got a nice big mirror. What's up guys.
Hope you guys are liking this one.
Drop me some comments down below as we go through.
Make sure you guys engage with this video so it gets seen by more people.
Let's go. Here is the sink. Is there water running in here? Nope.
No running water. I told my friends, keep these, take these out,
sell them, give them to somebody. They're your,
your wallpaper here. Very big and very bold.
Here's your light fixture. Do we have a turn it on here? There we go. Yeah.
What's up guys. There's your light. There's me.
And then the black toilet guys. Look at the black toilet.
Don't know how I feel about a black toilet, but it is what it is.
Not much we can do now. It's already here. Pretty big shower.
Not much in there though. It's just that it's just a shower.
And then there is a walk-in closet back here that kind of takes you by surprise
when you open the door and then there's the lights are working and then you can
see the walk-in closet, but there's nothing in it.
So let's now move on and we're going to go through the bathroom.
We'll take another look nice and slow at the bathroom here and we'll give you
guys another quick sup guys in the mirror and we're going to go see the other
bathroom on this floor, which is pretty impressive.
It's a pretty impressive bathroom guys. Here we go. Look at this. Ready?
Look at this. Go slow so you can take it all in.
Turn the light on. See, there you go. There's the lights.
And then here's the koi fish wallpapered bathroom.
Look at that. Wow.
You got your,
your standard 1970s green on the toilet and in the sink.
You've got your koi fish wallpaper. You've got a nice big mirror.
Sup guys. And then, yep, there's your,
your green bathtub with your matching green and white tiles here and then very,
very dusty, very, very dusty curtains and curtain rod here.
All right. And then there's your,
there's your green toilet with a white lid and then here's your,
your overall look here. Go this way. All right.
So this is quite the bathroom guys. Koi fish, green. Sup guys.
So I think that's the main level.
So now it's time to go downstairs and take a look at the basement,
which is pretty awesome. All right, here we go guys. So we are back.
We are in the foyer. We've done the first floor.
So now let's go check out the basement. This is a pretty impressive staircase.
If you ask me, this is a really nice looking staircase. You know,
I did tell my friend Dave and Dave and Rachel,
I said you guys need to like keep at least one room.
If you're going to gut the whole house, I said, keep one room.
And my friend Dave says he thought about it and he wants to,
but I don't think that's going to work. I don't think they're going to do that,
but I would, I would base, I would probably beg my wife.
If we bought a place like this, I would beg her to just let me,
please let me keep one room just as it was.
All right. Light fixture.
I probably should have turned that up on when we were upstairs. Uh,
this is literally just a storage room.
So there's nothing interesting in here. Nothing at all.
All right. So we're just going to move on out of here.
Then we have the furnace room. Now we're going to get to the good stuff guys.
All right. So let's start with the car, the carpet down here. Check it out.
Checking it out. Okay.
Then we go from this carpet to the green shag of this room.
This room has a lot to talk about. This room has a lot of stuff to say, guys.
We have green shag carpet.
We have wallpapered ceiling.
We have wooden beams, decorative wooden beams.
And then we have these very sophisticated gray and black curtains.
There is a lot going on in this one simple room,
starting with the carpet, moving all the way up to the ceiling.
So let's just go over here and we'll give you guys a nice look up and then we're
going to straighten it up here. And then we're going to go down like this.
All the way down to the shag.
Take a look at the shag right down there. Nice and granular,
right down into the nitty gritty of the carpet. Okay.
Let's go to the next room here.
Okay. Anyways, I don't know if I'll be focused on the staircase quite yet,
but I really do love the staircase. Uh, it's looking a little bit dark.
I really wish I would've turned that light on, but it's a nice staircase.
It's got this interesting oval sort of opening here.
I'm a big fan, big, big fan of this staircase. Okay.
This here sitting room, recreation room, whatever you might want to call it.
Gorgeous fireplace right here.
They are probably going to keep the fireplace. They're considering it,
but it's a,
it probably will need some work to get up and see what's going on in the
chimney,
but it's a pretty nice unique feature of this house.
And I think it would be cool if they were to keep this feature here and keep
this fireplace going. So we got a gorgeous mural here,
some flowers and some trees or something plants.
There you go.
And then you've got these sort of Brown curtains right here.
Okay. This Brown material. And then we're going to head over here.
Speaking of Brown material,
because the wallpaper that they've used is also a Brown sort of papery
material. See,
so that you follow the Brown papery wallpaper right to the Brown,
uh, textured curtains. And then you've got your parquet flooring here.
All right. Oh, this bathroom. I'm going to hold this guys. Okay.
Right here is where we're going to end this part of the tour of that
bathroom right there, but you can't see it yet. Okay. So don't look to the left.
Don't look to the left. Okay. This room here,
nothing much to really to write home about.
It's just a standard green walls. It looks white,
but they're green parquet floor and a delightful
curtains here. Oh, you might see the bathroom.
I'm going to put my camera down this way.
So you don't see the bathroom as we walk by.
And now we're going to go into the laundry room. Very,
very green laundry room.
I left that light on because it's a super cool light.
I think Dave is going to keep that light.
I suggest that he does because it's a pretty awesome light lamp,
I should say. So they had dogs, uh,
the people who lived here before. And as you can see, uh, the dogs,
this is pretty much where the dogs lived because all of the dog dirt and stuff
is on the wall and all the scratches on the door back here from the big dog.
They looked like they were pretty big dogs and then they would go out there and
they had a little run for the dogs to hang out in the backyard and then they
would come in and then they would run their little dog bodies against the wall
here and get everything all dirty. They would shake it, shake it.
You could see where all the shake it,
shake it's work and when they come in there all wet and they're dirty and they
shake it, it gets all over the floor, all over the walls. And yeah,
the laundry room, this is just crazy.
You can't believe that this house has not been updated.
Not in a bad way. If this is what works for them,
this is what works for them.
It's just crazy to think that people still live with the same look and the same
decorations and style over so many decades.
Okay. I'm going to take a quick break and then we're going to look at this
bathroom here. Be right back. Okay, here we go.
We are going to go check out this insane bathroom down here in the basement.
And when I say insane, I'm not kidding guys. This bathroom is awesome.
Look at this bathroom. Look at the light fixtures.
Look at this. There's a spider right there.
Dead spider on the wall. So neat.
There we go. Turn the lights off so you can get another look without the lights
on. Check out that wallpaper. So much wallpaper guys.
What's up guys? Looking good. You guys are looking good today.
I hope you guys are enjoying this one.
This is a really special tour for me with permission.
Thank you to my good friends, Rachel and Dave.
They were so awesome to invite us along to see this place.
That's a pretty nice looking sink. Wow. Anyways,
I can't get enough of these lights. Wow. Okay guys, that's it.
We're going to wrap this one up here. This has been so much fun.
I've been here way longer than I planned to be,
but I just really, really loved every single room of this house.
So I hope you guys have enjoyed this one just as much as I have.
Please thank my good friends,
Rachel and Dave for allowing us to come by and tour this amazing
1970s time capsule house before they got it and make it their own.
They're going to do some fantastic things with this house.
It's going to look really good when they're done. I have no doubts,
but I swear to God, Dave, Rachel, which is one room, just one room.
Keep it as is. I know it's not going to happen. That's it guys.
Thanks so much for watching. Thanks for being here.
