Gabriele, tell me the story of Castello di Monsanto's 300-metre long hand-dug cave.
Oh sure, this is a crazy story. We're talking about 1986, as displayed shows,
three guys were working here, Giotto, Mario and Romolo. I say guys, but I'm talking about
70-year-old men that were basically at the end of their career and accepted the challenge by
Fabrizio to build this crazy tunnel to connect the new winery to the old castle. Nowadays we have
this tunnel that was basically handmade by these three men because they basically cut by hand
every single brick of galestro using the wooden arches system that dates back to the Etruscan
system of architecture. 20 metres at a time and it's a 310-metre long tunnel that holds
our remarkable amount of old vintages that dates back so long. It's something for us,
the real gold, the real story of our winery. Amazing, so just three men and how many years
did it take? Six years. Six years, incredible. Yeah, unbelievable. Last week I ordered a desk
on Amazon with the instruction, three pieces, I couldn't put it together and this man made this.
It's unbelievable, another generation definitely. And what is funny is that these three guys were
one communist, one fascist and one democratic, always drinking wine,
arguing about politics during the time. They did an unbelievable job for us.
