Hello everyone Welcome to Learn Italian This is a free
online basic Italian speaking
course Good morning everyone
This is an Italian conversation
course In the last lesson you learned
how to apologize and respond to apologies There was also a quiz
I didn't pass the math exam
A I'm sorry
B I'm truly sorry
The correct answer is B I'm truly sorry
I didn't pass the math exam I'm
really sorry Today you're going to learn some
phrases for agreeing and disagreeing
Let's begin To keep the conversation flowing you can use phrases
expressing agreement or disagreement The choice of phrase
depends on whether you agree or disagree with the statement
as well as on whether the sentence is positive or negative
That's why I divided them into four parts
When you agree with a positive statement use anch'io
For example
Every
day I go
to work by car
So do I
When you disagree with a positive statement say io invece no
Every day I go to work by car
I don't I go to work by subway
I don't I go to work by tube
When you agree with a negative statement use neanch'io
Neither do I I never have breakfast
Neither do I When responding to a negative
statement with disagreement use io invece sì
But me I do I never have breakfast
But me yes I do it every morning
I do I have it every morning
Note that if a verb introduces an indirect object
the expressions for agreement and disagreement change slightly
Let's see
some examples
I like cream ice cream
Me too
Me too
A me invece no Mi piace colo alla fragola
I don't I like the strawberry one
Non mi piacciono le verdure
I don't like vegetables
Not me either
Me neither
But me yes
I do
In summary to express agreement with positive statements
use anch'io or anche a me
To express agreement with negative
sentences use neanch'io or neanche a me
To disagree with positive statements
use io invece no or a me invece no
And to counter negative statements use
"io invece sì" or "a me invece sì "
Let's practice
You will hear a short dialogue between two friends
Listen to it first in English
In my free time I enjoy cooking
Me too I enjoy baking cakes and cookies for my family But I'm not
fond of sports How about you Neither

nature I also love nature I
have a large garden at my home
Now you will hear the dialogue in Italian
Listen carefully

cookies for my family too Instead I
