2026 Regular Session - Day 45 - Citation | Rep. David Hale

Could you have the clerk, Mr. Speaker, report Legislative Citation Number 68. Citation 68, Representative Hale. Citation of Achievement. The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky hereby recognizes and honors the members and coaches of the Montgomery County High School Mock Trial Team. Thank you, sir. Ladies and gentlemen, Montgomery County High School, located over in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, has achieved a tremendous success with their Mock Trial Team. I know there's a girls' state basketball tournament going on over in Lexington this week. The boys will be playing over there next week. But there's a lot of other teams in our state around the different schools that achieve great things, not necessarily athletic conquests. But the Montgomery County High School Mock Trial Team just recently won the Kentucky State Championship. And also, that made their fourth title in the last five years. So they have really almost become very dominant in that event. And one of those years, they actually went on to the Nationals and were crowned as a national champion from all over the United States. And so they will be actually going up to Des Moines, Iowa in May to present in the National Contest for Mock Trial Teams. I know we have a lot of attorneys in our body here. And so I think we've got some great, great young people over in Montgomery County that are looking to go into that field. But they have done a tremendous accomplishment there, winning four state championships in the last five years. So I just want to commend them. And I move for adoption of House Citation No. 6.
