Well I am here on the edge of the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness.
I've been wanting to get here for a long time. Going in for four days is the plan. I'm going
in with a couple different YouTube channels, people you've seen on this channel before.
Looking forward to get this one started. I was heading out once again with Jesse and Aaron.
Kenny the Idahoanian would be hiking in the next day to meet us at Fish Lake.
We arrived at the trailhead fairly late in the day and only had a few hours to get
up and over the pass and down into Fish Lake.
Well just got to the top of the pass. Good trail.
Good grade. Not too bad getting up here. Not much signage around here.
It was a nice walk down the pass and to the lake. Once we got there we had to do a quick
scout of the lake to find the best campsite. So we're out scouting for campsites. I'm down
at the far end of the lake on this dam. There was a horse camp back here that was better than
the campsite I saw over there so we can take that. I'm gonna walk back to the other side of the lake
and see if I find them. Well good morning from Fish Lake in the Selway Bitterroot.
Uh I'm not sure what the plan is today. We're just kind of uh waiting for Kenny to get here and we
might go back to Lost Horse either today or tomorrow. This morning just going to enjoy the
company and enjoy the lake. It was a relaxing morning around camp and finally we were joined
by the Idahoanian himself. After Kenny was settled in we took off to explore the lake.
As the day wore on it seemed like the smoke haze that was in the air was getting thicker. Well it's
definitely getting smokier. It's only 4 30 but the smoke is really playing with the sun
and the light's really funky right now. Kind of kind of cool but it's definitely getting smokier.
So uh I'm almost done with my loop around Fish Lake here. Guys were scouting out fishing spots
for later. Maybe they're having some luck. All right I'm just gonna circle my way back to camp.
Well good morning. Day three from Fish Lake. Today I think the plan is to hike over to Lost Horse
Lake and check it out. I think that's the only plan. Glad the smoke cleared out. Real smoky
yesterday. Seems 100% better today. Started our walk to Lost Horse Lake. Expect the trail to get
fainter. Further in we get three and a half miles, a thousand feet up. There was no official trail
to Lost Horse Lake. There was a trail leading out of Fish Lake but it was disappearing the further
we went. Over the rocky sections of trail we were finding a few cairns to help us along but
even those were a challenge to spot. Peckley Lake. Finally we could see Lost Horse Lake.
As soon as we hit the lake lines were in the water. I'm not a fisherman so I found a spot
on a ledge and settled in. Far too soon it was time to pack up and head back to Fish Lake.
Well last night of the trip. Sun's going down, fire's going. Don't really want to see it end.
Good company. I've had a lot of fun this week with these guys. Hopefully we'll do it again next year.
So tomorrow we got to climb out. Got to go back over Bear Creek Pass. I want to stay out. Fun. Had
a great hike today. Well good morning. Morning day four. Pulling out today. Going home. Fish
Lake was putting on a show this morning. Really beautiful and should be a fairly easy jaunt today.
Got to go up over Bear Creek Pass. It's going to be a long climb but I don't think it's going to be
very hard. Then we're cruising down the other side back to the trailhead. I think I'm almost
up to the pass here. I was enjoying the hike out. The trail was well graded and we were just cruising
along. All right just made the last switch back of the trip. Home stretch now. Been a good hike this morning.
Made it back. Not too bad of a hike.
