Hello everyone it's me again
Are you enjoying the chat time

This week's topic is about when I feel I'm getting older
I've already heard this conversation before
I've also been over 30 so I've had those moments plenty of times
Shall we take a look at what conversation we had
We've lived quite a long life haven't we
Yes we have
By the way Kyung-eun and I are the same age and were born in the same year
Kim Kyung was born about three months earlier right
Yes that's correct
To put it precisely
After living for about 40 years
it just feels so strange Why
It just sounds odd to say "after living for about 40 years "
I've been
alive for about 40 years haven't I
Yes So I've lived about half my life already
So we can safely say that while it's not exactly young it's certainly sufficient Yes
It's a somewhat ambiguous period but when you get that old you' re talking about
people in their 50s and 60s who are even older
You're still young aren't you I'm
still young so I'm in my 30s 20s
Oh ma'am I was going to say sir
That's right But age seems to be relative
But even so sometimes
I feel
like this is why I'm starting to think I'm getting old
Sometimes you feel that way don't you I think I've been having those
thoughts every single day lately
Just every single day Around the clock
Oh not 24 hours For example
when filming like this
with the camera my face looks completely different
Oh I'm different from how I looked ten years ago
When comparing myself to old videos
I often feel like I've changed so much
My body seems to be recovering a bit slowly
That's definitely true Isn't it
Yes
When my finger gets slightly injured and bleeds the pain
from the tumor seems to have slowed down dramatically
Yes yes Recovery's the same—really we don't get hurt every single day do we Yes that's
right
So even just going about daily life feels noticeably more
tiring and in my case I make it a point to exercise every day
It takes me longer to stretch now
I don’t feel ready to start warming up until I’m fully warmed up
It used to take just three or four
minutes but now it's really twenty
I never really thought I was getting old but now
that I'm about thirty-nine my body just hurts too much
I started getting sick almost every other week it felt like way too often
That's probably when I began slowly and gradually starting to exercise
Yes yes Because it hurts or because your
health is deteriorating starting to exercise is also a way to cope
That's proof of getting older
But there are also many good things about it
Oh of course
Yes back when I was in my twenties there were times when despite
not wanting to meet certain people I had no choice but to do so
These days such situations hardly ever happen anymore since everyone's essentially
grown up by now so among the people I want to meet and the ones I actually do meet
People you don't want to see you can avoid it seems
like you mostly just spend time with those you actually want to see
If you asked me whether I'd want to go back to
my twenties I'd say no—I
prefer the present more
Having gone through my twenties thoroughly I
know Yes that's right
But actually there was a moment recently when I truly felt how much older I’ve gotten Oh when was that
You know back in Korea if you walk down the street these days you still see those soldier gentlemen everywhere
You see soldiers around all the time—there are plenty of them on leave
Back in my thirties early on that’s
when I first thought wow I’m getting old
There came a time when soldiers began to seem less like soldier uncles and more like young students
Ah baby Back in the day he was a soldier but there was a time when I thought of him this way
So back then in my early thirties I remember thinking oh I'm getting old
But recently now that I've turned early forties
I was sitting alone at a restaurant in Hapjeong
You know those office workers who just look unmistakably like middle-aged men no matter who's watching
Three office workers sat right in front of me chatting away like that
Anyone could see he was acting just like an old man
But what really hits me is how much younger they are than me
Oh well just listening in on the conversation
Yes just by looking at the conversation or rather at facial expressions and such
My outfit is kind of the old-fashioned gentleman style I used to imagine back then
He had that typical office
worker look but I could tell
everyone's faces seemed younger than mine That's right
I was thinking he might be in his mid-thirties but
then I realized he actually seemed younger than me
You can definitely feel it
Whenever I sign up for places like shopping malls in a similar sense
New places keep popping up all the time
When that happens there are always some that ask for your age
Yes exactly yes
When was it Anyway it happened not long
ago—when I first turned 40 last year
When they told me to pick an age group Did they
really say to choose an age
group Well that did happen
It was probably created to calculate an algorithm for offering certain recommendations
When choosing someone in their
40s are you saying there were only people in their 60s and older even 60s
There were people 1 2 3 4 5—nothing in their 70s or 80s
Teens twenties thirties forties fifties sixties and older
It felt a bit strange choosing something fairly low down there
But overall you just need to keep maintaining your
health by exercising and not drinking too much alcohol
You don't have to drink as much as Kyung-eun does
No no that's not it
I'm still feeling more good things than not
though every now and then I think wow if I live to be eighty
Half my life’s already passed Only half left
now That’s right
There are times like that
But now what can you do it's the century of 100 years
old Oh well then at least…
There's still some time left About ten years or so
Oh so there's still 60 years left then
Hmm yes
Yes yes We've already reached 40%
Yes when we reach fifty we've lived exactly half a century
Do people say things like that a lot these days Half a century old
Around fifty or fifty-five things like
that Exactly
Talking about numbers that once held more significance roughly half of what they used to
Yes yes Fifty-five isn' t old at all we're still
young we're heading
toward a hundred and fifty
Something feels increasingly sad so should we wrap this up
I understand
I was talking about how I sometimes feel old
but thankfully it doesn
't happen very often Yes
I'm curious to know what you all think as well
We'll be back next time with a different topic
Yes see you next time
Goodbye
