Hey, welcome back to Overhungry Adventures and welcome to Sukhothai, guys. Every year,
Thai people celebrate one of the biggest traditional Thai festivals called Loi Kratong,
which is a symbol of the end of rainy season and the beginning of new cold season, the winter,
winter in Thailand. And it is a perfect time for traveling because it is not raining anymore,
the sky is clear, the temperatures are lower, especially in the evening, at night and in the
morning, which is why we begin a new tour, a new tour to the north. It is raining really hard in
the south now, so yeah, it is a perfect time to explore the north. And accordingly to our
old tradition, we begin a new tour to the north in Thailand in Sukhothai, which I love a lot.
And here we will be celebrating Loi Kratong festival. Celebration starts today,
number 27 October, and it will last for 10 days more. The last day and the biggest one,
the day with fireworks, will be on 5th November. So when I post this video, you still got time
to come to Sukhothai and explore it and celebrate Loi Kratong too. There will be
lots of delicious food, traditional, really unique snacks and Thai foods, many friendly people,
lots of things to see, lots of things to do. And of course, guys, I'm inviting you to join me
in this hungry adventure. If you have got some time and empty space in your stomach, let's go!
First day, I'm very excited. Gotta go to the historical park first,
because my resort is a bit away from the city, but I'm enjoying the silence here.
You never really know what to expect on the very first day, but
let's hope there will be something exciting.
This is what I mean by coming right on time. You have just arrived and the performance has begun,
and you're entering the historical park, and it feels like you're entering some
mystical or magical zone, which is why I really love visiting Sukhothai during Loi Kratong
festival. Today is 27th October, and we'll be celebrating for 10 days until 5th November.
And the last days, last two days, are going to be absolutely amazing, with fireworks, with super
show. I want to make a couple more videos about Loi Kratong from Lampoon, which I have never
visited. And final day in Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai Loi Kratong, which is going to be quite exciting.
And if you want to see final days of Loi Kratong from the previous years, feel free to check out
the previous Loi Kratong videos, because this is my fourth time
experiencing Loi Kratong festival in Sukhothai. Yeah, I love it here. Just a few days ago there
was a serious tragedy in Thailand, and it is a very sad moment for everyone, for all Thai people,
which is why Loi Kratong festival is a little bit more sad and quiet right now.
Because a few days ago, Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Queen Sirikit,
has passed away. And it is a very, very sad news for all Thais around the country,
which is why many people today, tomorrow, or every day during this month will be wearing
black colors. You might notice them if you will be traveling around Thailand in October, November.
So the celebration of Loi Kratong was slightly adjusted to honor her memory. You will see there
is a portrait of Her Majesty the Queen Mother, and many people are wearing black dresses or wearing
black ribbons to honor her memory. But still, there will be fireworks, there will be a cultural show,
there was this cultural performance. Just some things to let you know. If you will see people
wearing black dresses, if you will see some parties are being cancelled,
there is a reason for this, because it is a very sad news for Thailand.
Time has come to grab something delicious.
Amazing Thailand?
As always in this market, it is difficult to find a place to sit,
which is why you gotta buy something and eat it while walking.
Very tasty.
Bamboo, and even the fork is made of bamboo.
So we need to tell Italians that pizza was made in Sukhothai first, and then it traveled to Italy.
Wow, bellissimo, bellissimo, pepperoni, margherita, sawasdee krap, sawasdee krap.
What do you think is the most delicious?
Truffle?
Yeah, this is real Thai pizza.
Very delicious but very small. 60 baht are gone.
That's it.
All right, two pieces of food, kao lam and pizza.
Now we can get back, look for the cultural performances a little bit more
and burn those calories, we got to walk more.
No, no, wow.
Inside there is a coconut, that's why it is very sweet and very tasty.
And this is what they use to transform sesame seeds into this sesame powder.
Khao dek nga, khao dek nga.

Good afternoon.
Couldn't cover the entire area in one day, on the first day.
Which is why today we are going to the historical park again.
But before we go, we need to get some vitamins and energy.
Which is why we are drinking Aroika Cha Thai, Thai tea.
Because I already had coffee in the morning.
Aroika has all kinds of beverages you need.
Coffee in the morning.
Thai tea in the afternoon time.
And cocoa in the evening.
With lots of vitamins, really.

Yesterday it was a little bit hot inside.
Which is why today I'm wearing a white t-shirt.
Okay.
Yeah, it is the beginning of cold season.
But still, it's pretty hot in the daytime and early in the evening.
The good thing about our products, about Aroika products.
Is that you can drink them all together with ice.
One sachet is 15 grams.
So you can use really big glass to drink it with ice.
Refreshing.
Yeah, that's the exact Thai word.
Okay, let's get back to the old town.
We've got many things to do today.
This is my wish.
My wish was granted.

For the success of Aroika brand.
Okay, success, success.
It's in the sky.
Feeling very excited.
And it was funny when the small lantern which is called Hom Loy in Thai language.
Loy is to float.
It was funny when it stuck in the tree.
I was worried about a bigger fire.
I don't want to start a fire in an ancient temple.
Which is 600 years old.
No, no, no, no.
But yeah, this is the symbol of life.
Nothing is easy as it seems.
Sometimes there might be some obstacles which you have to overcome on your own.
Yeah, just believe in yourself.
Wow, what a good feeling.
Happy Loy Krathong everyone.

You cannot wear pants by yourself.
Always need help.
Why do I want to speak Japanese today?
Even though I can't.
Looks like something that was stolen from Louvre in Paris just recently.
Wow.
Are you so rich?
I'm so rich?
Not in real life.
I'm going to ride a motorcycle like this.
Interesting.
The outfit is done and it looks great.
But at the end I got to wear my backpack.
And with backpack everything looks not rich anymore.

Without trying ancient traditional donuts of Sukhothai called Kanom Bong.
She is always here.
And they are always delicious.
Sawasdee krub.
But this year they are slightly different because she was using the raspberry flour.
Which is why they look a little bit purple.
Mickey come promote, come promote Kanom Bong.
Name channel?
Channel 5.
Crunchy on the outside and soft inside.
Absolutely amazing.
So if you are still not sure should you come to Sukhothai on Loi Krathong or not.
You should, you should.
Hello, hello.
At least to try these donuts.
Usually Thai people flow their kratongs on the very last day of celebration of the festival.
However even on the first and the second day it's still a pretty good feeling.
Because you can make a wish and you can support local producers.
Who create all of these baskets, all of these vessels, those kratongs.
Because they cost just 20, 30, 40 baht.
And they sit there all day, all evening waiting for you to buy those kratongs.
So if you are coming in the middle of the festival still buy those kratongs.
Support local people, support local producers.
Because for them this event is the major event in the province.
And it's a really strong boost to the economy of Sukhothai province, Sukhothai kingdom.
Thank you all guys for watching.
