Want bigger, stronger calves? Most people are doing calf raises completely wrong. In this video, I break down exactly how to perform calf raises with perfect form so you can maximize growth, improve strength, and avoid injury.
Proper Calf Raise Form: - Balls of your feet on the edge, heels slightly hanging off - Keep a soft knee bend (don’t fully lock or bend) - Drive through your toes and lift your heels as high as possible - Squeeze your calves hard at the top (pause for 1 second) - Lower slowly and control the stretch before the next rep
Common Calf Raise Mistakes: - Bouncing reps and using momentum - Going too heavy and cutting reps short - Locking your knees and shifting tension off the calves
If your calves aren’t growing, it’s not genetics—it’s execution. Fix these mistakes and start seeing real results.

What's going on?
It is your form expert coach Kyle.
And today I'm actually going to show you how to do
half raises on the leg press machine.
So jumping into it,
you're going to set it up just like a leg press.
And what's awesome about this
is you don't need to touch the handles at all.
So all you're going to do is make sure that
your toes are on the pad.
You want to really make sure your heels are not at all.
So from here, this is a perfect setup position.
Get nice and tight here.
Make sure to grab onto the handles.
And all you're going to do is press all the way up.
And from here, keep your knees on soft bend in the knees.
So you're not fully locked out,
but you're not bending your knees.
So from here, there's a soft bend.
And all you're going to do is just basically
take your toes off to the point where
you're getting such a nice stretch here.
Press all the way up to the point where
you're straightening your toes.
Your calves are feeling it.
You're squeezing for one to two seconds
at the very top.
You're going to control all the way down.
Nice and controlled.
That's where you get a great stretch in the movement.
And this is exactly how you do
calf raises on the leg press.
Now, a lot of people, what they do
is they just end up going like this,
just going way too quick.
That's effectively doing nothing.
You want to make sure every single rep
is nice and controlled,
and you're getting a very deep stretch.
A lot of people will stop here
and they'll just kind of do little half reps as well,
but you want to just bring it all the way down
to the point where it almost feels uncomfortable,
and that's exactly how you do it.
