如果還在伊朗
不可能學英文
不可能環遊世界
更不可能當演員
很多人覺得「美國也很糟」

So what's your message to someone like Donald Trump? I mean there's a lot of Trump derangement
syndrome in the media as we've touched on. A lot of people just don't like him even if he's doing
a good thing for the world. But we've seen Trump take this action by trying to take out this
regime. It's a big task. I mean we've heard from a lot of presidents saying for many years Iran
cannot have a nuclear weapon. I mean Donald Trump is making sure of that right now.
What's your message to the president of the United States and to Israel for taking this action?
Well as you rightly just said there have been multiple presidents in the U.S. and we Iranians
are making edits of those right now on social media where you can literally see different years,
different presidents constantly saying we're going to attack Iran, we're not going to let
Iran have the nuclear bomb, if I'm going to be president I'm going to do this to Iran,
I'm going to do that to Iran. You see all of the presidents over 47 years talk about this
but nobody really takes action. And I can say it's only President Trump who can do that and
President Trump really did it. He kept his word and he understands how crazy this regime is
and he is literally and I know people are not gonna agree with what I'm saying and they're
think I'm crazy but that's okay. I know what's happening in Iran and I know that President Trump
and Israel are saving the whole world from an actual World War III which would have been
completely out of control of anybody in this world by the time this regime would have had nuclear
bombs. So thank you, thank you. That's my message, my message is thank you.
And you are not the only one thanking the president and thanking Israel. I mean we've
seen the celebrations right around the world here in Sydney and other parts of Australia,
in New York, lots of people celebrating as soon as Khomeini was killed. I mean we've heard Donald
Trump speak about some of the victories so far. It is extraordinary in such a short period of time.
I know I keep going back to this but a lot of the messaging from the media is that Donald Trump's
dragging us into a forever war when really it's clearly can be argued that he's trying to end
this war. We also heard from commentators such as Whoopi Goldberg last year. She made a comment
suggesting that life for Americans is just as bad if you are black compared to life for people over
in Iran. That was on The View last year and then Joy Reid this week said that life for Americans
is only mildly better. Those were along the lines of what she had to say as opposed to what life is
like for people in Iran. I mean you've experienced it, you've touched on some of the horrific things
that you have seen but these are people saying this on podcasts, Whoopi Goldberg saying it on
The View, on the ABC in America to a large audience. You know this is such a big and
hard-hitting slap onto the faces of the Iranian people who are actually living under a dictatorship.
Seeing women who are sitting without hijab and who have complete free speech because they're
sitting there and talking about all of this in a country where they can actually speak out against
their leader and not only can not a woman do that in Iran but even a man who doesn't need to wear
hijab. They're not allowed, nobody is allowed to speak against this regime in Iran and you're
sitting in America, you speak freely against the president, you say whatever you want to say about
him and then you say that life is as bad in America as it is in Iran. I understand that every country
has its issues and that many things might not be perfect in America as they're not in Australia,
as they're not in India, as they're not in Germany but saying that life is as bad or almost as bad
as in Iran for Americans is just rude at this point. I feel there's nothing more I can say to
that. I completely agree with you. I think it's rude and I think it's incredibly stupid and
incredibly damaging. I mean what kind of information are you telling your audience?
There seems to be no accountability for that either. Can you talk to us about how your life has really
changed? I mean since leaving Iran, spending eight years there as a child, you then
moved to Germany, going on to build this successful career as a Bollywood actress in
India. I mean what was it like then experiencing freedom and opportunity after leaving Iran?
Yeah, it's really incredible and sometimes I do feel guilty because I'm like I had the chance
and I was able to get out of that country but I still see my family, my cousins, my friends who
had to stay behind and who didn't get the chance to do what I did or what they wanted to do, you
know? And of course I know that most probably if I would have still stayed in Iran and didn't have
the opportunity to go to Germany to have the incredible studies that I had over there,
learning multiple languages, getting a German passport which really helped me with my travels
and with my job. You know I'm just literally talking about the small small things but
these are big if you consider that if I would have stayed in Iran I would have probably never
even learned English the way I did. I would have never had the chance to travel the world the way
I did. I would have never been free enough to become a model to then travel the world and
understand that I would like to become an actress and that too I would like to choose to be an
actress in Bollywood, you know? All of the opportunities only come when you live in a
free country where you have the choice and where you can make a decision to be anybody or anything.
So I would have probably not be sitting in front of you right now talking to you
about any of this if I was still in Iran and that is really really heartbreaking.
It really is but look at you being so brave and using your voice so well I mean really
shining a light on what is happening in Iran and not enough people are doing that sadly especially
as we just mentioned what you're seeing on the view. What is next for you? Can you talk to us
a bit about your acting career what it's like working in Bollywood and what's coming next?
Well in these crazy times right now there is not a lot happening but I do start a new series that
I'm doing here in India and about two weeks after that I'm doing a film in Bollywood and once I'm
done with that I'm doing another film and at the end of the year my Hollywood movie Hotel Tehran
which is where I'm playing the lead opposite Zachary Levi with Liam Neeson is releasing and I'm
very excited about that one and I think that one's also going to be very very relevant for today's
times and for whatever is happening in this world with Iran and with America so that's what's coming
up. Of course I'm doing music as well next to my acting career and I have a lot of songs
releasing this year which is I think everything is just in the pipeline waiting for better times
to come because I just feel like right now when my family when my country when my people are going
through what they're going through I just wanted to hold off and not release any music and wait
for better days but yes there is a lot of work coming there are a lot of good things coming I'm
very very happy and very grateful and I hope for all of us in the entire world that the world
is going to be a better place after this regime is gone and especially for Iranians they really
deserve it. Of course they do I was going to ask you because no one has a crystal ball
what's what what are you hoping for I mean everyone wants this this war to be done as quickly
as possible realistically did you suspect it will drag on for some time and of course
we all hope that that the Iranian people can be free. Yeah I mean I really don't know how it's
going to unfold I don't think anybody really knows the only person who probably knows is
President Trump because you know what even though a lot of people say oh he doesn't know what he's
doing I think he knows what he's doing very well and he's planned everything very well
and we do see it as the days go by of course it is affecting the world it is affecting the economy
it is affecting everybody but I'm certain it's going to end soon this is not going to be a war
that goes on over months and months and months or years not at all I don't believe in that and
if it happens and if this regime is gone and once Iran is free then we're going to have a free
Lebanon we're going to have a free Gaza we're going to have a free Yemen we're going to have
a free world from all of these terrorist organizations we're going to have a free Iran
we're going to have an Iran that has amazing relationships with all of the countries around it
and with the rest of the world finally again like it was before 47 years back
and we're going to have a world that the people have not seen in many many years because these
proxies have been really big and these proxies have been really hurting the entire world for
all of these years so I am actually very excited about that day. Elnaz Neruzi thank you so much
