We Found a Secret Waterfall in the Forest!

Welcome to another episode of the Epic Family Road Trip. Good morning everyone it is December 1st and we are packing up the jeeps and heading out on the trail. We actually met a fisherman I think he was a fisherman down at the wharf in town and he stopped us and said I just last night saw I watched a video of you guys it was the first time he'd seen one of our videos and he subscribed and then he was coming into town for some gear and there we were so he was quite excited to meet us but he told us about a couple of really neat trails that we should check check out and he told us about one a place called Virgin Falls which is where we're headed today so jump on board we're going to take you into the wilderness of Vancouver Island and go look for some neat spots. All right so we're about four kilometers now it seems from the waterfall we just went through an area where a whole whack of trees were down and the fellow that told us about this place said his buddy had just gone up here and cleared the trail took him four hours so hey thank you. So anyways you gotta be flexible I guess yeah chicken caesar salad with a bit of bacon yum yum it'll do. All right so that was an epic trail today I hope you enjoyed the footage that is we say this often that was the best trail we've ever done but BC continues to amaze us and get more epic every time we get off the road but we are now set up here in camp we've had a delicious dinner and we're gonna shut her down for the night get some sleep and then do some more filming tomorrow around this whole area. Today there was a logging crew with a helicopter pulling out some logs and we talked to them on the way in here and they're they're leaving they left tonight so that was really interesting to see I'd always heard about how they do that selective logging and just pull certain trees out of the forest it was fun to watch but anyway tomorrow we're going to continue down the road and take you with us every step of the way. Good morning it is December 2nd we had a beautiful sleep up here in the mountains we've got a fire going now and Carol's got some delicious food on for breakfast and you can hear the waterfall you can't see it but it's in the background there and we can't wait to go hiking in there and take a look at that gorgeous waterfall just in the middle of nowhere it's going to be a lot of fun and we're going to take you with us. Even though the kids are older since it is December 2nd I'm making them some snowmen pancakes and some hot cocoa with candy cane and gingerbread men on top of it so I don't know kids are always small in a mom's heart right yeah so just crush up the candy cane put it on top with some whipped cream and our little gingerbread men and yeah hope they like it you know they will yeah can't go wrong we've got these fans uh little battery operated fans by claymore the same company that makes the headlamps and the lights that we use and they have the same excellent battery technology but really handy for getting the fire going when things are wet all right so now that we got camp set down and ready to go I'm just going to go to see the falls that is impressive we just came around the corner and that is a huge waterfall there beautiful and the water flowing down the river out of the waterfall is just crystal clear you could drink right out of it we'd filter it first as usual but you could drink right out of it I'm let's get up closer and take a look the kids have gone across over to the other side of the waterfall and in like caroline work her magic with her camera to try to bring the beauty of this place to your living room gorgeous road going in there you need a high clearance 4x4 because it's uh there's some rocky and steep areas but it's definitely worth going in and we marked a couple of camp spots that would be great options now we're heading back out the trail we're going to keep exploring bc the island is just has been blown our minds so far how spectacular how beautiful this place is yeah I talked to the pilot there and he said the smaller helicopter is used to carry the crew in and out and then the large one has a hydraulic grapple hook so they don't need someone on the ground to tie onto the tree so they can just grab them and the guys on the ground are bucking up the logs or cutting off all the branches that's really cool and in the meantime we'll see you down the road
