Some processors are not meant to be used without an amplifier, but there is a way. I will show you something you may not have thought of when it come to the Boss ME-50.
Alright, Gospel Guitarist here and as promised I wanted to show you a quick cheat if you
don't want to haul around your amp with a stompbox oriented unit such as the Boss ME50
and maybe some of the older units you might be able to use this cheat on.
On this unit there is no speaker simulation involved with it.
It's basically a set of stompboxes in a big box.
But the headphones out is equipped with a 412 speaker simulator and so if you run your
headphones out you'll need a stereo cable with two mono outputs, commonly known as an
insert cable, and then run it into two DI's for your left and right and then from your
DI's you can run your mic cable to the mixer.
So now you've got a set of stompboxes equipped with a 412 simulator on a headphone jack running
stereo.
I suppose you could probably run it with just one DI but because there is stereo panning
and things like that on this unit I would just go ahead and run it in stereo if I really
wanted to do this.
A lot of you probably would not dare to run this unit this way but it can be done.
Now you can balance your clean tone and the level of your distortion tone but mind you
you've got tone and bottom controls on your distortion but there's really no way to alter
your clean tone outside of your tone modifier up here.
And that may be sufficient because if you just got a thin guitar sound you know that's
not going to sound very good but you can move it up here to fat or crank it up to
enhance and get more high end and low end so you can play with this setting over here
to enhance your clean tone somewhere in there you're going to get something that you probably
it's close enough especially if you're just playing like heavy metal and rock you're probably
not going to use your clean tone all that much and no one's really going to pay much
attention to it but your distortion tone's got to sound good and it just will not do
that running say you know out of your guitar output into a DI it's just going to sound
horrid so the only way you can do this is coming out of your headphone jack.
Now I don't know about the ME-70 hopefully they've got the ME-70 set up different where
you could run it with your left and right with a cabinet simulator because it does have
all the modeling in it where this one doesn't but this is just a quick video on a cheat
for this unit and it may work for some older Yamaha units or other things that are floating
around from ancient days so as long as there's a speaker simulator on the headphones you'll
need to you need to know that it does have that and that's why the unit sounds good just
playing through your headphones because it's got that 412 cab there that's the only place
this unit has it so it's not available anywhere no buttons will turn it on so that's the only
place you get it right here.
So I don't know that I would do this but you can so just something I thought I'd throw
out there because it's possible and it probably wouldn't sound bad don't sound bad on headphones
so shouldn't sound bad live either so anyway if you find it helpful then use it if not
just forget I said it but anyway thanks for watching and don't forget to like subscribe
share videos and you take care.
