Why I Left Thailand for Vietnam

What's going on guys? It just got out of the gym. I go to the Platinum Fitness in Ekamai That's got to be the most American style gym in the whole city you got you know the broccoli cut kids hogging the incline bench press and Everything every single American meme you can think of you see it play out at the Platinum Fitness. Anyway guys, I Haven't done one of these in a while and I just realized that I'm coming up on almost a year and a half in Southeast Asia and You know one thing that I wanted to announce was that I am moving to Vietnam and It's kind of crazy right because why does it matter what I'm doing? Well, you know, I I have this channel and I try to make it useful to Asian Americans specifically Asian American males You know statistically analytically speaking. Our channel is primarily 28 to like 48 year olds You know, so I try to keep everything super useful Obviously, I try to teach people things through my own life And one thing that I want to tell you guys is that you always learn something new Being the same fish in a new pond every single new environment. You're in is a new fish tank You're the same fish, right? But due to your exposure to the different fish in a new fish tank with a different decor the different spongebob Pineapple or whatever is within that tank you become a slightly different fish you can't really morph into like a different species of fish But you can certainly change your life and be changed by every new Repetition every new experience that you're going through within the new fish tank So I would never regret my time being in Bangkok But it is time has come for me to move to a new fish tank to develop in a different way Which is gonna be Ho Chi Minh City Specifically Tao Tien and that I'm gonna be moving there in April if you guys know about Vietnam and Tao Tien That is actually probably Asia's best-kept secret of a neighborhood. It's like a mixture of Chiang Mai Bali and Garden Grove or like Rosemead, California You don't I mean in the LA larger extended area like Tao Tien is this area? It's the most international part of Vietnam. It's not necessarily it could be one of the richest but it's really the most international Because it was designed for foreign executives and you still got Vietnamese food there. You don't mean you still got everything it's like feels like 40 but it's like Bali but more Asian centric. It is not as Australian or Russian centric as Bali is I'm super excited about that So I'm gonna be moving in April, but I still have my Bangkok spot until May So I'm gonna be back and forth because I got you know, there's some people coming into town or whatever But I'm really excited because of the business opportunities like for example in my year and a half in Bangkok I don't think I got offered a single business or investment opportunity whether on an operation basis or an equity basis Nothing because if you guys know about how Bangkok is structured it is for high so ties. They kind of run everything I'm not saying that's good or bad. That's just their structure that they run here But I'm Vietnam right now is booming with eight ten percent growth per year and it is very extremely open To people from the outside coming in whether you were vehicle obviously ethnically Viet or not. They're super open It reminds me of America almost like in the 1990s I'm not saying America's still not like that But America right now with the Black Rocks and everything like that is probably less like that now Then it was in the 90s the 90s. It was really like Please come and bring what you know, if you know something we don't know and that's the vibe I get from Vietnam right now and the hustle there. It's just insane, you know, obviously Bangkok dope But it's more like so by so by Vietnam is hustle hustle on the on the flip side of that I hear a lot of people say Yeah You can't get scammed in Vietnam or you have to do your due diligence on who you're really doing business with I would agree with that that could happen to you here too But in a different way like it would just be different but you anytime you are in developing economies Whether you know, I'm not you know, third world second world countries, whatever you want to call them You gotta be careful because everybody if things are booming People in the past decades really did not have much Felt deprived of things legitimately oppressed suppressed whatever it is They want to get it so in that ambition to get it sometimes people could sacrifice Certain boundaries or thresholds of integrity to get it so yeah, but the thing is obviously that's not everybody you just you you as the person have to do do the due diligence and Just even in the time that I've been spending in Vietnam people have offered me so many different business projects Somebody wanted me to be a partner in a lo-fi jazz bar, which is really popular in New York City And West Village as well as Bangkok, but they didn't have that in Vietnam. Somebody wanted me to partner on that I don't know if it was the right opportunity for me. Somebody asked me to do charging stations not just in rural Vietnam but like sort of in the Surrounding countries, you know for like swappable batteries on like the mopeds because obviously look at the Middle East the gas is going crazy so people are gonna move that's gonna speed up the adoption of Electric scooters with the swappable battery Hubs, you know what I mean? So it's very similar to Taiwan, but it's new to Southeast Asia the region What else some AI Kwan stuff? I'm not saying any of that stuff was the right opportunity for me I don't even know what my value added would be But I'm just saying that I love to see the deal flow and there's so much more deal flow in the Vietnam zone Than in the Bangkok zone for foreigners or somebody who's just not part of the inside Group the inner circle, you know what I mean? Yeah, like we said, you know Bangkok is dope But it's sort of like a day one place in the sense of Bangkok gives you everything day one in my opinion but it's very difficult to go past that initial day one layer after it gives you everything and You know, I'm not knocking Bangkok literally. We're just talking about the pros and cons and the structure of every society Like different places offered different opportunities like You know, even America it was always easier to do business than Canada and Canada was probably easier to do business than Australia but all the new world countries it was easier than doing business in the UK or something like that like that's just like the nature of the different details of every society on the economic mechanisms, and I just think that Yeah, the geopolitics are shifting. You've got the China plus one supply chain. You just look at Vietnam That is probably the hottest place in the world right now Literally like I'm not saying even in the region I think Vietnam is the hottest place in the world I met people from Singapore doing a ton of business there and we're not talking about just one type of business You know, obviously grab is from Malaysia moved to Singapore grab is like Gigantic everywhere, you know, you guys know the grab app. It's even better than uber in a lot of ways Yeah, and I just want to restart my projects man. I'm excited to play basketball again I know a bunch of a vehicle friends that are from Australia Germany America Canada that are back in Vietnam right now running all Types of business. I have a vehicle friend who's half Chinese have Vietnamese from Hong Kong running all types of businesses out there You know what? I mean? We're talking about like shot at the step and win with next-level basketball Shout out Hugo with Mamba basketball Academy I know people just trying to do that says on the basketball side guys Does you guys know I love basketball did work with the NBA etc, etc, but like I'm saying The that there's countless things shot at the James from Australia is doing so many which is like got the oxygen Chambers, you know to increase the red blood cell count and all types of stuff like from that to more serious b2b sass Software stuff, you know, I mean that I can't really describe you because that's just not my field or not my core competencies But yeah, dude, I'm looking to get into so many projects. I'm gonna be hiring for a new videographer editor creative Partner, you know what? I mean every YouTube channel every twitch stream channel, you know, that's trendy nowadays they always have one to two to three people full-time on the staff if you guys don't know because there's so much processing so the Stuff needs to get chopped from horizontal to vertical Guests for the podcast need to get booked and you know that's just a lot of work for somebody else who's trying to you know, you're trying to live life and take cool Instagram photos and You know, there's a ton of stuff I'm definitely looking for that. They could be an American citizen. They could be a Vietnamese citizen gonna be paying very competitively above Industry standard in Vietnam, please email my EA Rosie Suong right there. I got her email right there. So even if it's not right opportunity for you, maybe you know somebody I'm super excited. I might even be hiring multiple people. I know shout out to Sonny from best damn food show I think they run a team of like 20 people out of town here. So that goes to show you There's a lot of people running big YouTube channels out of town in anything, you know, like I said, I love the echo mine Todd in sort of like the echo my tongue or mixed with saturn of Vietnam like I said, but it's like Chiang Mai Bali mixed with rosemead or garden Grove and Yeah, I'm really excited. Like I even had some other ideas I don't want to say him too early because maybe they do happen. Maybe they don't happen. Maybe we could do like some sort of investment Fund opportunity for Asian American guys to get invested in the growth of Southeast Asia because you know East Asia always attractive for investment But it's a little toffee or it's already boom. That's what I'm saying. It's already boom when something's already had its boom They're still upside. But then the upside is more marginal or less there's less room to grow than a place that hasn't boomed yet, obviously and Yeah, other than that man Super excited to be moving to Vietnam Shout out to Thailand. I mean, I think the people here are their hearts is amazing How good they are to each other? I left a scooter one time, you know all around different places You know, sometimes I just forgetful around Akamai. It was never stolen. They kept it with the tag you know at the common guy spot with my name on it and just like You know, it was great but it just in terms of me getting involved in business and having a holistic life and stretching my brain muscles and my business muscles and My YouTube muscles. I just didn't want to be in a place where I felt like And it's not you know what I'm saying? Like we said, I'm not faulting anybody for anything just can I didn't want to feel like I was only constricted to food and beverage and Hospitality and then covering it and just being an influencer in that style, you know Because I always had you know, so many Vietnamese American friends I grew up on the west coast and now they're all back and they're running so many cool projects I've got the noodle soups with deal kit via Q series got friends playing pro ball over there Linda D's coming back to one every one two, three months out of every year like everybody's coming back just having a good time basically and just loving it and You know, like I said shout out to Bourdain. He saw it early He was the first guy to bring million-dollar cameras and Obama to Hanoi to have boon shot Hanoi, you know and You know Basically, what I'm saying is I'm super excited.
