2026 Regular Session - Day 57 - FCCR for HB 568 | Rep. Michael Meredith

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, ladies and gentlemen of the House. The Free Conference Committee report on House Bill 568 adopts the Senate Committee's substitute, with the exception of a couple or three different things. One of those is that we do put a two-year moratorium on negotiation by public adjusters in an insurance contract. We had a full ban on those in the House version. The Senate version restored their authority to have those, and so we put a two-year moratorium to match the licensing moratorium that we put on for licensing in this so that we could study this over the next two years and come back with a better structure. It also does establish some language that the lady from Shelby had provided in another bill that we had, naming a correctional facility that was agreed upon language and adopts some Senate language related to workers' comp guarantee fund and special assessments for the AGC AIK fund there. That is what the Free Conference Committee report does. Again, adopts the Senate Committee substitute and those three additional provisions. I would ask for adoption of the Free Conference Committee report.
