They call this the city inside ginger, or ginger inside the city—neither description would be wrong.
Amid the scorching sun of the Mekong Delta, there is a place where the breeze feels as gentle as rows of swaying trees.
This time, Truc Lam's meditation session was marked by profound silence.
Then take me out to breathe in the salty tang of Ba Động's sea breeze
A touch of surprise is indispensable when visiting the wax coconut museum.
Listen to the story of the fruit that shines upon this earth.
Only by wandering into the smallest corners can one truly appreciate the resilience and humanity of the Mekong Delta people.
A journey filled with serene, expressive faces
Let's start our journey to explore Chà Vinh right away.
I'm staying at a temple that is the most unique one I've ever known.
What is that?
Look to the left, everyone
The meditation hall right next to the beach, you know
Do you see the wind turbines?
This is Ba Dong Bay, you know.
Let me show you how it works.
That meditation hall next to the sea always, you
The most unique meditation hall I have ever known
Next to a very famous beach in the West
That is Ba Dông Sea
Look at these shops here, guys.
It is still sunny at the moment.
Just a little bit of evening, and the chickens get so crowded with people
Here are the wind power cables
Wow
Beautiful
See?
It's absolutely beautiful, everyone
That
Wind power is spread along the entire coastline, guys.
Today the wind is a bit strong.
So the water, even when stirred, remains quite strong.
Normally, he's always the one riding his bike down to the sea.
Very well, everyone
Now, let's go explore together.
Look here to see what's inside.
Here, there's one thing—the parking area.
No space, no parking area—right at the beach
That's kind of scary, you know.
Hello everyone
I am currently present at Truc Lam Trà Vinh Zen Monastery.
Back then, I've traveled far and wide, but I've never encountered a Zen temple quite like this one, guys.
You just came from the temple, right here?
Then you walked here on foot.
There are so many shops and stalls here, you know.
On the other side, there are also several wind turbines.
I just finished showing it to everyone outside a moment ago.
That
Very nice, guys
I am greatly impressed by the Trúc Lâm Trà Vinh Zen Temple.
It's near the sea, so it's always very cool.
The wind is not too strong, you know
Good heavens
Now, let's go on a journey together.
What's there in the Trúc Lâm Trà Vinh Zen Meditation Center?
Then come in with me
Let's go
As usual, guys
Every time I go to a place, I try to learn at least as much as possible.
Let me feel excited and thrilled, you know?
But I haven't thoroughly investigated all the features within the Trúc Lâm Trà Vinh meditation center.
Then let's go explore Truc Lam Zen Monastery together.
First thing I see upon entering is the three-gate archway.
The upper part of the room above is made of wood, everyone.
Below will be concrete.
Is it permissible to use the term "Dharma" in the Buddhist Church of Vietnam?
Truc Lam Tram Vinh Zen Monastery
That
At both gates, there you go.
Those are the three gates, you know.
Then go in.
There's one thing that's kind of creepy, you know.
It's the parking lot, you know.
People always park their cars directly out here.
No house, no place at all for you
I find it a bit scary.
I've put myself in quite a few situations where I had to deal with many friends
Here it is, I left it here.
Now, let's step inside the Trúc Lâm Trà Vinh Zen Hall together and see what makes it so remarkable, everyone.
First of all, I notice that the temple's surrounding wall is very spacious, guys.
Here is the row of coconut trees.
Here too are rows of casuarina trees.
With Truc Lam Zen Monastery, you know, the architecture is pretty much the same everywhere, really.
Now I'll step onto the first few steps of the staircase.
Right in front of me, I will see that
It's sunny right now, so it's a bit hot; please bear with us, everyone.
You will see the very large map of Vietnam right in the middle of the display.
Now, looking at myself, I can guess that it's Phu Quac, guys.
This is Cape Cà Mau right here.
This is Con Dao, you know.
The other two dots are the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.
Vietnam's S-shaped map
On both sides will be celestial kings.
There's a Dong Tian Wang here.
Here, let me show you Dong Tian Wang.
Here's the guardian spirit, be sure to keep the belt secure.
Here, one official
There's another one over there as well.
And here, two more individuals on both sides.
You are the Four Great Heavenly Kings.
Then step in
Now I'll tell you a little about the history of the Truc Lam Zen Monastery in Tra Vinh.
This one was started around 2014.
Completed around January 31, 2016
The total construction cost is over 120 billion VND.
This is one of the 58 Zen monasteries of the Trúc Lâm lineage throughout our country.
This is a shaded area; come inside, it's cooler and protects you from the sun.
Come on in here to get out of the sun, and stay away from the electricity.
This left side is still that familiar anti-heat zone
On the right side over here is the bell tower area.
Here, turn around and take a look at the bell tower area.
There's one particular thing, this bell area here
Preventing and avoiding electric shocks for everyone is also the greatest priority in Tra Vinh.
Temple sacred artifacts, you know.
Don't arbitrarily blame everyone
This is the damn thing to hit with.
Here it is—the bell from the Trúc Lâm Trà Vinh Zen Monastery.
This meditation temple also holds several records in Tra Vinh.
It's the largest bell tower, the largest lightning rod, and the largest lightning protection system.
And the largest statue of Goddess Guanyin, which I showed you earlier, the statue of Goddess Guanyin.
Now, everyone, let's all follow me to take a look at the electrical cabinet, shall we?
Please remember to leave your slippers outside when entering.
Now, step through the door.
Step inside, it's cool in here, everyone
These are the wooden trees.
The tree is very large.
Wow, those wooden structures are really impressive, guys!
That
They will decorate those patterns.
Then it will be gilded
This is the main shrine area, you know.
Wow, it's so beautiful
Sharp enough to be solemnly quiet for everyone
On the left side
On its left will be an additional statue passed down this way.
This is another statue on the left.
This is Bodhisattva Samantabhadra, everyone
Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, here's a signboard, look.
The Bodhisattva will rise up like a broken back, like a lump of lime.
That is Bodhisattva Samantabhadra.
Here, continue to the left here
This here is Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, everyone
Now I will say a few words about Bodhisattva Kṣitigarbha.
Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha is renowned for his great vow, "The Vast and Infinite Hell Realm."
To attain Buddhahood, sentient beings make offerings; thus, they verify bodhi.
He is regarded as the supreme master of the Underworld.
Bodhisattvas tirelessly rescue sentient beings from suffering, especially during periods when the Buddha is not present.
Lanterns hang above, and very large wooden trees everywhere people
All the wooden rafters and beams are completely made of wood.
There's also a pattern on that wooden board.
It's absolutely gorgeous.
There's another statue here.
This is Bodhisattva Manjushri, everyone
Just as free as a wild beast, as if it were a spirit or a phantom
And over here, to the right, over here
Here is the Lord God Emperor.
This statue of the Lord Buddha, which I received, is the Buddha King Tran Nhan Tong.
He is the first patriarch among the Three Patriarchs of the Bamboo Grove School.
Trần Nhân Tông, Pháp Loa, and Quyền Quang
He renounced the world to practice Buddhism and founded the Trúc Lâm Yên Tử Zen sect.
Representing the engaged Buddhist spirit of Vietnam
Inside here
Inside this center, there will be two more statues.
It's Kassapa Buddha, everyone
Hey, there's a little one here...
Like a bent little thing, you know.
Before everyone's eyes, this figure is not a dragon.
It is a sacred seed.
This is a very important sacrificial object.
Profound spiritual significance in Vietnamese culture
And the image of a seed standing on the back of a turtle, betel seed
is an extremely popular cultural symbol
and its significance in the spiritual life of the Vietnamese people
commonly found in temples, pagodas, and churches
Its meaning is the harmony between heaven and earth.
Heavenly grains represent the sky, nobility, purity, and longevity.
Gua represents the aspect of "đắc," signifying stability, firmness, perseverance, and endurance.
The meaning is that this combination symbolizes the harmonious integration of yin and yang between heaven and earth.
May all things be in harmony, may the nation be peaceful and prosperous, and may life be fulfilled and complete.
Giang Giang retold the touching story of the friendship between the seed and the turtle.
During the harshest drought years, the seeds had no water to drink.
The old woman helped the seed find a place with water.
Conversely, when the flood season returns, the seed lifts the stork onto its back to fly up high and avoid the flood.
This image honors the spirit of mutual care and solidarity.
Loyalty and friendship between close friends in times of adversity
The family of General Secretary Tran Dai Quang offers incense.
This statue is really beautiful, everyone.
It's because General Secretary Tran Dai Quang offered the incense.
This is the family of Prime Minister Nguyen Son Phuc offering incense.
This one is from Prime Minister Nguyen Son Phuc, everyone
Here is General Secretary Tran Dai Quang.
Those offering dishes are absolutely terrifying, guys.
Let me check who else is still offering additional offerings.
Here's another photo, probably a couple, everyone.
There is an additional statue here.
Ananda, everyone
Let me show you the patterns on this tiger.
At the outermost part is the Great Hero Hall.
Next is Wu Shi Zhi Wu Zun
Next is Master Tam Giai
There's another character inside.
Inside is
Inside is Wan De Temple Hall
Wow, it's so beautiful
Now let's go take a tour of the surrounding areas together.
First are the two sides on the side that avoids the thread.
Here I hear a sound like a bird chirping, guys.
Perhaps it's some bird's nest building a home up here.
There's one thing I really enjoy about the Trúc Lâm Trà Vinh temple, everyone.
That's when people go to temple festivals.
Can anyone hear the sound of the sea out there?
It's really great, this is a very unique temple, I really like it, everyone!
Ba Dong Beach is very beautiful, everyone.
If ever given the chance, everyone simply cannot miss this convenient Trúc Lâm Trà Vinh site.
You should visit once and then go down to the beach to play.
This is the area on the left.
This is the area on the left side.
Wow, it's so beautiful
This is the left ventricular column.
The rest is all just wooden pillars.
It's also made of wood above.
I really, really, really like wooden architecture, everyone.
This is the electrical shelter from earlier.
This is after those statues, you know.
Everyone who comes up here is someone who has thrown away their sandals.
So it's very clean, everyone
These two sides here are places where people can sit and rest.
Wow, very beautiful
Truc Lam Tram Vinh Zen Monastery
I think this one will definitely be a loss against Can Tho, everyone.
The Trúc Lâm Phương Nam Zen Temple in Can Tho is the largest temple in the province of West Sea.
Now I will briefly introduce the common layouts found in Trúc Lâm Zen monasteries.
First, you will enter a place with an electric barrier.
The two sides are the bell tower and the anti-tilt tower.
In avoiding electricity, one will worship Buddha Shakyamuni or the Three World Buddhas.
Behind is where the ancestral hall will be enshrined.
And some remaining items at the market
The place I am stepping into is the Ancestral Hall.
The story of the Third Patriarch of the Trúc Lâm Zen School
Highly renowned in the history of Vietnamese Buddhism
These three are known as the Three Ancestors of Zhulin, consisting of
Zheng Nian Zong, First Ancestor, Fa Lao, Second Ancestor, Quan Guang, Third Ancestor
These three figures established the first purely Vietnamese Zen lineage closely associated with the spirit of the harmonious integration of Dao (the Way) and worldly life.
Regarding the Patriarch of Trúc Lâm, Trắng Nhăn Sect
Zhang Nantong was born in 1258 and died in 1308.
He was the third king of the Trang dynasty.
He is a leader of Đại Việt.
Two defeats of the Yuan Mongol army
In 1285 and 1288
After the country became peaceful
He abdicated the throne to his son in order to go live as a hermit in the mountains.
He went to Mount Yên Tử to practice asceticism.
Next time I have the chance, I'll go up to Yen Tu.
Then I'll make a detailed video about the issue of him going to Mount Yên Tử to practice asceticism.
Now I'll just say briefly
Next time I go up to Mount Yên Tử, I'll tell you in greater detail.
This 25-meter-tall statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva here
Just a little bit, I'll run over there to show everyone.
Beautiful, isn't it?
Very cool, serene, and light-hearted
I really like Trúc Lâm Trà Vinh Zen Monastery, everyone.
This is the first time I've ever come in directly.
Here just heard the gentle meditation music from the temple.
The quiet space
Add the sound of crashing waves
The sea breezes are very cool.
All comes together in harmony.
Excellent, nothing can be described anymore
I'm absolutely crazy about this temple complex.
Now let's continue together
Now, everyone, please follow me through the Buddha statue area.
Buddha and Guanyin statues, 25 meters tall
Here's the table, guys
Facing the statue of Guanyin
It's like a hall here.
Like the auditorium
Wide open
7 hectares wide, everyone
At the base of the statue is placed a
Bodhisattva Guanyin of Donghai Sacred Image
There is a dragon below.
A pool and a dragon facing upward
What a beautiful day!
It's against the light, too bad it's against the light
Coming from afar, drawing nearer
This is a 25-meter-tall statue of Guanyin.
Cao Nhất Trà Vinh
Right here at Trúc Lam Trà Vinh Zen Monastery, everyone
Wow, very high
I'm currently experiencing backlighting.
But it also has its merits—it's very imaginative, everyone agrees.
I advise everyone
When arriving at Trúc Lam Trà Vinh Zen Monastery
It should be visited in the morning
Because at that time, the light will shine directly onto the statue.
Here's the Quan Yin, and call directly to avoid electricity
Very beautiful
Now I'm heading into the afternoon
This Trúc Lam Zen Monastery has two main areas.
That's the place with the 25-meter-tall Guanyin statue.
And the nearby electrical shelter here
Right at the main gate is where you go to avoid electricity
If you go to the right, you will get through.
The Kuan Yin area
Now I'll find my way.
Can it really be built, a 25-meter-tall statue of Guanyin?
And I'll go around to the back; I'll take a look at the back area.
I've looked at it quite carefully already.
There is no path leading up to this statue of Guanyin.
Everyone just stood below.
Everyone, please stop bowing.
Now I will move over to the side to avoid the electricity
Let's take a little more tour
About those Zen monastery sects, guys
Then it won't have many small scenic details.
For everyone to visit and take photos here
Only the later environments, that's all.
They will build just a few small landscape features, that's all.
As for this meditation hall, it usually has a lightning rod.
And some very small landscape features here and there, everyone
So it is very quiet.
Tranquility
I see a staircase leading up here at this entrance, everyone.
Let me go up and see for myself.
It's not a beautiful view, you know.
Everyone is currently at the entrance gate.
Looking down at Ba Dong Sea here
Oh my gosh, it's absolutely beautiful, everyone
Wow
A beautiful past
Inside here is the electric hazard area.
The campus has a large number of trees.
Endless green trees always
A place so amazing—why did I only find out about it now?
That's too neglectful of everyone.
I just took you all on a tour of Trúc Lâm Trại Vinh Zen Monastery.
A very unique Zen monastery
It's unlike any monastery you've ever seen, isn't it?
What is that?
A meditation monastery next to the sea, you know
This is Ba Dong Beach.
After finishing the tour, you will be taken to view the wind turbines.
Oh my goodness
It's very beautiful, everyone
So many shops, the sea
Just visited the quiet, serene temple, everyone
Still get to hear the sound of the waves crashing, though
Hearing the sound of the wind
The sea breeze blows in
The rows of trees are very tall and cool.
Wow
Next to the sea always
Those几十 meters there, guys
A very unique meditation monastery
I really like Truc Lam Tram Vinh Zen Monastery.
Now let's go to the beach and play together.
