Brian, thanks. A seminar today focused on educating veterans on what benefits are available to them.
22 News reporter Aretha Odayo joining us live in studio with the details.
At the West Springfield American Legion post from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.,
disabled American veterans hosted an information seminar program free of charge.
DAV is a non-profit charity that provides a lifetime of support for millions of veterans.
They get to learn what benefits are available to them and how to handle claim issues,
filings, and appeals with the V-A. It can also help their families pay college tuition,
find the right school or training program, and get career counseling.
After the seminar, attendees worked one-on-one with staff to ask any questions.
Anything that we deal with is compensation for disability, education benefits.
A lot of times the benefits out there are disabilities that people wouldn't associate with their time in service but actually are.
DAV travels around the country to provide job fairs, clinics, and conventions to communities.
