Oh! You can tell there's treats in there, can't you?
Alright! A lot of you guys have been asking me this, so today I'm going to show you guys
how I train my dogs to speak. What you need to remember is I am not a professional trainer.
These are just the methods that I use that work for me. So you can try them and see if they will
work with your dog. The first thing you're going to need is some treats. Some people use a clicker.
I use treats. They're hidden in my pocket. I like to use these little tiny treats. They're
called zoop treats. Memphis, sit! Good girl! Okay, there's a few different ways you can go
about teaching your dog to speak. The way that I always use, which has always worked with my girls,
good girl for paw, I know, basically you tease them. You tease them until they make noise.
I know it sounds mean, but trust me, it works. Some people like to use a door knocking method.
If your dog barks when people knock on the door, knock at the door, you can try that method,
but I'm going to show you this one instead. I usually like to make her sit first and then
usually I'll dangle a treat up in front of her face. I usually do it standing and the dog will
get really excited because they're really going to want the treat and you got to do it until they
make noise and they usually go speak. Come on! Memphis, sit! Sit! Speak! Come on! Speak! Speak!
Oh, there he goes! Good girl! See how she made just that little bit of a noise? You want to
reward every time they make any type of a noise because eventually they're going to figure out
you want them to make noise. Sit! Sit! It's also really good to train your dogs when they're tired.
Memphis isn't very tired. Sit! Good girl! Good job! Good girl! You got lots of praise for that one!
That was a good speak! Want to try again? Memphis! Speak! Speak! Come on! Speak! Speak! Good girl!
Good job! Sometimes it can be a little bit of a harder command to... It's time you can't get
them out of my pocket! To teach a dog, like I said, when they're tired it works a little bit better.
We're of course doing this while you're not tired! While you're not tired! Memphis! Memphis! Speak! Speak!
Good girl! Is that good? Yeah! It is one of those commands that, you know, it can take a little bit
more time than others to train. I know! Hi! I love your hugs too! It can take a little bit more time
than others to train your dog how to speak. Some dogs catch on really fast and then some dogs
like you, take a little bit longer to figure it out. Thank you for the hugs! Thanks! There's a
Memphis hug! There's a Memphis hug! The next thing I'm going to show you, is how to teach your dog to
sing. The problem with that is, your dog has to know how to howl. I can't tell you how to teach
your dog to howl. Some dogs do it, some dogs don't. But if you can figure out something that makes
your dog howl, you can teach them to howl or as I call it, sing on command. Are you chewing on my
arm? You want to play, don't you? You're like, I just want to play! All you want to do is play!
I love you! I have to go get your sister now, because you can't howl on command yet.
Okay? Kisses! Oh kisses! Oh Memphis kisses! Okay, I have to go get your sister. Okay, Shelby's a little
bit older than Memphis, so she knows these things a little bit better than Memphis does. Right here
Shelby! Right here Shelby! Sit! Good girl! I know! Can you wave? Try again! Can you wave?
I didn't say lay down! I didn't say lay down! I didn't! Okay! Say anything! See Shelby knows when
you hold a treat up above her head, she wants... You want her to speak, don't you? Speak! That was...
That was horrible! That was horrible speaking! That's snorting! Try again! No! Ready? I know!
High five? Wait! Wait till I'm ready! High five! Good girl! We're not teaching high five, we're
just snorting! Speak! That was pretty good speak! Can I try again? Sit! Speak! Okay, Shelby knows how to speak
on command. I don't know if I'll be able to get her to do it, but Shelby does know how to sing on
command. But I have food, so we'll see if it works. Shelby! Hi! Can you sing for everybody? Do you want to
sing for everybody? Sing Shelby! Good girl! Shelby sing! Good girl! Sing Shelby! Sing! Good girl! That's a good job!
Now the way I taught her that, was Shelby will sing with the harmonica. So you'll blow the harmonica
and she'll make those same noises. And as soon as she would start making those noises, I would say
Yes! A good girl! And because she could do it with the harmonica, because I found something that made
her sing, and then was telling her to sing and rewarding her, she figured out how to sing on
command. Didn't you? Sing! Sing! Sing! Kiss the camera! Good job! Good job! Good job Shelby! Come here!
Right here! Sit! High five! Yeah! Oh I missed! Sorry! That's my bad! Now Oakley here is a little more timid.
She does like food. Thank you! Come here! She's having a little bit harder to train to do certain
things. Oakley sit! Sit! Sit! Good girl! Speak! Speak! Speak! So there's one way you can try and teach
your dogs to speak on command and possibly sing on command. Let us know if it works for you or
if you have any tips, training tips or anything on how you taught your dogs to speak. Good job
Shelby! Good job! Good job! Memphis sit! Sit down! Good girl! Oakley sit! Oh you're on slippery
floor. Oakley look pretty! Good job! Oh you almost lost it! Oh you lost it! I have to get you another
one. I think my pocket's empty. All right well I gotta go get Oakley another treat. Thanks for
