We’re hitting the trails in Moab, Utah for the 2nd Annual ZR2 Red Rock Rally, where Chevrolet ZR2 trucks from across the country come together for an unforgettable off-road adventure.
Day 4 of our Moab wheeling takes us to Poison Spider. Already known as a difficult and technical trail, Poison Spider becomes an entirely different level of intensity as heavy rain moves in. Slick rock, muddy climbs, and unpredictable traction turn every obstacle into a true test of skill, line choice, and vehicle capability. Thanks for watching, and subscribe to see more!
What's going on guys? We are back with another video. My name is Armando and I'm Nicole and in
today's video it is the fourth and final day of the 2025 Red Rock Rally and the final trail we're
doing is Poison Spider. So we are currently in our run group. We have six ZR2s with us
so we are going to go see what kind of fun we can get into. The first major obstacle comes up
less than a mile into the trail with a few different line choices to pick from.
Our main challenge here was this larger rock. Right as you start climbing the wall
it pushes the rear bumper straight into it. Slow, slow, slow. He's gonna hit. He's gonna hit.
To get around that we stacked a few rocks on the back side
to help lift the rear and keep the bumper from making contact.
Yeah it should. Just nice and slow. Yep. Oh just missed it. Barely. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
We're clear. That's a diff. Okay. Oh so we just added a little tiny rock which we will put back
after we get everybody up. But that tire was up there spinning so just needed a little.
As you can see the rain has already started. What was supposed to be an overcast day with rain
later in the afternoon quickly turned into conditions that were only going to get worse
the further we went along the trail. It's a shock skid on my side. I just saw the rock be chipped.
After conquering the first major obstacle we continued down the trail as the rain kept coming
down taking this optional smaller downhill obstacle along the way. If you missed out on the
fun of the 2025 Red Rock Rally you won't want to miss this year's event happening October 16th
through the 19th. You can find out more information on our Facebook page
under the events tab. The link will be in the description below.
We made it to the next optional hard obstacle and of course the rain wasn't about to stop us
from having some fun. You can see right behind me that's the bypass line for this section.
There you go. There it is. The whole butt end slid this way. Yeah.
This next obstacle is another optional one but it's a fun one. I know it doesn't look like much
on camera but if I remember right this climb puts you close to a 30 degree pitch and all you can see
is the sky on the way up. If you aren't subscribed make sure to hit that subscribe button and the
notification bell that way you don't miss out on any more future videos. This next obstacle is a
non-optional one known as the waterfall. It climbs uphill while curving which puts the truck in a
pretty off camper position. Normally it's not too difficult but with the rain coming down harder
you'll see a few of the trucks start to slide sideways on the way up.
If you didn't catch it I was asking if he was locked and he wasn't. We gave it another shot
fully locked but as you can see with the weight of the truck and the current conditions he just
kept sliding further and further down making the climb impossible. So we decided to back him down
and reposition for another attempt. As you can see the exact same situation happened again with
this CR2. We did the exact same process backed him down repositioned so we can give it another shot.
So we just all conquered the waterfall obstacle in the rain and the waterfall obstacle
legit has a waterfall running down it right now. So this is Poison Spider on another level with it
all being wet. We've got our next little climb here you can see how wet these rocks are it just
makes it that much more difficult of a trail. It is actively raining really hard right now.
We are still making our way up slick those those also those territory MTs do not like grabbing
wet rock man. All right we have arrived at kind of the last major mandatory obstacle before making
it to the top of the mesa of Poison Spider. So it should be interesting to see how the water
plays a factor in this next obstacle. I'm trying something new this video keeping the music minimal
and letting the natural sounds of the rain tires and engines take over. Let me know what you guys
think down in the comments if you like this change or you prefer some background music.
This optional obstacle has several different lines with the hardest being the one we decided
to take. We went for it without a spotter and with the rain already soaking the trail
it didn't take long to see how this was going to play out. With the multiple failed attempts
I decided to hop out of the truck to help spot so that way we can conquer this obstacle.
As I say in all my videos the camera never does these obstacles justice. They're way bigger than
they look and once you add wet rock into the mix it makes getting up them that much harder.
He cannot back up much look.
Got a little trail repair going. There's a rock stuck somewhere along the shield
that we gotta somehow pop it off. Put it in neutral. I don't think there's anything else
in there. It sounds way better though. I think it's just that little rock.
We got the wedge rock cleared and continued down the trail. We reached the loop section
of Poison Spider. Running it clockwise takes you up the sand hill adding a fun challenge
and let's just say our first 0-2 up got a little too excited in the sand.
If you watch his wheels closely you can see them start to lose rotation.
That's the traction control picking in and reacting to the loss of traction.
In soft sand like this momentum is everything and you can see the traction control was killing his
speed and preventing him from making it up the hill. We reached the back half of the loop
which takes you up and down petrified sand dunes. It's a more relaxed section of the trail
but it rewards you with some incredible views of the surrounding area.
After a quick lunch stop we continued on finishing the last section of the loop
and coming up on an unexpected amount of water. We had to do this water crossing and it is proper
deep guys. You're just going to see how deep his bumper gets momentarily. Look at that bow wave.
Got some wheel lift there and he's through. Oh got a wheel lift.
Hell yeah. With the loop complete it was time to hit the mandatory obstacles again
this time in reverse coming back down the trail. He's going in the hole.
Okay.
As we worked our way down the trail the rain let up for a short moment
but as you can see it started right back up again. Use that terrain mode.
Terrain.
Got it. Okay. Oh boy. That back wheel. After a long day of wheeling
we had finally reached the last major obstacle standing between us and the exit.
With the final ZR2 conquering the final obstacle along Poison Spider
I want to say a big thank you for watching this video in its entirety. Thank you all for those
