DAY SIX of our trip through San Francisco and Napa Valley, we head to the best brunch in Napa Valley, the brunch at Auberge du Soleil. It's a 3 course brunch with an epic view over the valley!
After the best brunch in Napa we headed to one of the top wineries in the area, Cliff Lede Winery. This winery is rock and roll inspired! Each row of the vineyard is named after one of the owners favorite rock and roll songs.
Lastly we head to Downtown Napa to have dinner at Taqueria Rosita to eat some CalMex. California has some of the best Mexican food outside of Mexico, so you need to try it at least once.
About Me: My name is David Hoffmann and for the last decade I have been traveling around the world in search of unique culture, food and history! Since starting Davidsbeenhere in 2008, I have traveled to 71 countries and over 1,000 destinations, which I welcome you to check out on my YouTube Channel, blog and social medias.
I focus a great deal on food and historic sites, as you probably have seen! I love to experience the different flavors that each destination has to offer, whether it’s casual Street food or gourmet restaurant dining. I’m also passionate about learning the local history and culture.
Hey mom, another beautiful day in Napa Valley.
This is like the perfect weather.
I need to smell the flowers.
Huele las flores.
Huele?
We are going to have Sunday brunch
at Auberg du Soleil.
Probably the best brunch here in Napa Valley.
I'm very excited, looking forward.
Love you guys.
Melina come, let's go.
Auberg du Soleil, Sunday brunch.
They have brunch Saturday and Sunday.
It's not a buffet brunch.
It's a three course brunch.
And the views here are insane.
Look at this.
Might have.
Last time was the accumulation
and last four days.
Next time in Sonoma.
Dad, what did you get?
Double confit.
We just had a great brunch
at Auberg du Soleil.
I think the food is amazing
but honestly the view is superb.
The view is the thing to come here
and the service, the atmosphere
is really outstanding.
I highly recommend this place.
I had the foie gras.
I don't know if this is good
but if you're an animal lover
I'm not sure you agree with me.
Once in a blue moon I'll have the foie gras
and then I had a pork chop.
I had a few espressos, mimosas
and a chocolate dessert
The chocolate dessert was incredible.
I had the oysters with Tabasco.
I had a duck confit
with a poached egg
and that was part of the best
duck confit I've had ever.
Ready for another winery?
Let's go.
It's like popping.
Patty, you excited?
Our last winery.
Winery number 15.
Nice.
Hey everybody, my name is Jason Leidy
and I work here at Cliff Leidy Vineyards.
I've been here for about 2 years full time
and my job has me on the road
a fair amount of time
as I do sales for the winery
but here at Cliff Leidy Vineyards
my family's been out here for about
15 years making Cabernet Sauvignon
based wines.
Really the inspiration for that comes from my dad's love for Bordeaux.
He was a Bordeaux collector
before he got into making wine.
He just developed such a passion for it
that when he came down
to Napa to look for land, that's what he wanted
to do. He sort of wanted to take that
recipe of the Bordeaux style
wines and then apply that here.
Luckily he came across this beautiful
property in Stag's Leaf District.
We have 60 acres here, all planted to red
varietals, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon
so the wine that comes out of here
very much reflects this site.
That said, our vineyard
does have a lot of diversity in it.
Right now we're on the valley floor where we have roughly
40 acres of vineyard.
You can see that it's a fairly low-lying
flat area
and what we have here is actually
a mix of soils. A lot of gravelly soils
down here and as we get closer to the Napa River
there's heavier soil, more clay-like
so that's where we can plant some of our other
sort of Bordeaux blending varietals
Merlot, Petit Verdot, things like that.
But if we look up down this
row on that hillside, that up there
we call the Poetry Vineyard and that's where our
best fruit of the vineyard is grown.
Mostly Cabernet on that site
but that's just a really intense, steep
growing area
so the fruit that comes off that site is
the highest quality we can get.
And then actually just above the Poetry
Vineyard is the Poetry Inn
which is a 5-bedroom bed and breakfast that we've
been operating since 2005.
So all together here
at Cliff Lady Vineyards, I mean, we have beautiful
combinations, great wines that
reflect the land very well
and I think all together it's just the ultimate
Napa Valley experience. So come and visit
us anytime, we'd love to have you.
So this is a Pinot Gris, which is the same
as Pinot Grigio, and it's called Fel, right?
Fel, exactly.
So how long have you guys been out here?
Fantastic. So the first three wines
we're trying are from Fel.
That's from the Anderson Valley
which is a 2.5 hour drive north
so they're not Napa wines, they're from
this area right here in Northern California
and they're really good.
What do you guys think?
I was waiting for cheers.
Cheers, cheers.
So this is called Backstage
and this is like the VIP room
VIP tasting room
and as you know, Cliff, Jason's father
he is a huge fan of rock and roll
so it's like the backstage
and this is where you'll try premium wines
tasting here costs $75
per person and it's super sick
they have guitars that are signed
they have all the covers
of different albums
you see here
and here's some of the wines
this is a Pinot Noir
of high quality
so this is the reason, this Pinot Noir is the reason
why Cliff bought this property
because of this one, okay?
It's a Pinot Noir
It's a Pinot Noir that's more like a cap
more body
Pinot Noir is usually
very watery
We're taking 10 cases
No, you got it
You're a part of the vlog
We're trying some Scarlet Love
Maybe they'll change the name for Scarlet Whip
like Marvel
This is as good as they get
I mean this is really really silky and powerful
This is the kind of stuff I really enjoy
This one's amazing
This one, we've been making this
since 2012
2012 it received 96 points
2013 and 2014
100% cop
I hate it
This place is really nice
I really enjoyed it
Very cool veranda there
What I'm going to do right now is quickly show you what this place looks like
from above
Droning, only way
Hunnits on my bed
Sexing with the bill
Roses in my wallet and I'm flexing it for real
Racks on racks on racks
I look like rookie all the year
Fronting with the cash
It's getting moody over here
Hunnits on my bed
Sexing with the bill
Roses in my wallet
Our adventure in Napa is almost over
It's been an incredible 5 days
Wineries, restaurants, tasting rooms
Every place has been so nice
And we really enjoyed it
Right now what we're going to do is go to downtown Napa
Take a stroll
Have some Mexican food
And just relax
And get ready because tomorrow is a very long day
We have to drive from here to the Myrtle Woods forest
Which is like the redwood forest
North of the Golden Gate Bridge
We're going to have lunch there
See the Golden Gate Bridge
And then we have to kill like 6 hours to get to the airport
And we have a 11pm flight back to Miami
So we have to red-eye out
I've got to thank Mazda for this CX-9
It is amazing
I love this vehicle
I think I'm going to buy it
I'm really thinking about it because it's a really awesome car
It drives very smoothly
I love the interior and it's a badass car
Alright let's go eat some Mexican food
Real spicy Mexican, California Mexican
Because California has so many good Mexican restaurants
We have to eat Mexican food at least once
Selena
Follow my mom
Uchi Hoffman
She's private but she still wants you to follow her
Seguidores
Todos bien
Super fresh
I wonder if they have avocados in this spot
We're here
We ate, we drank
Oh and more sleep
Thank you for watching
