Everything that you're doing is either moving you toward the things that you want to accomplish in
life, the person you want to be, the wealth you want to accumulate, or it's moving you away.
Everything counts. Three months, six months, a year, everyone wants results on their timeline,
but growth doesn't care what day you circle on your calendar. You don't plant a seed and dig it
up every week to check if it's working. You water it, you protect it, you let it take root before it
ever breaks the surface. This is the same. Some results don't show up in 90 days.
Some winds don't arrive in the first year. Some success stories, they simmer wildly,
then explode all at once. But here's the truth. Most people quit at month six,
not because it didn't work, but because it didn't show yet. Stay in the game.
Your only job is to make a very, very clear decision about the person you want to be,
the things that you want to have, the goals that you want to accomplish, and then make sure that
you feed your mind continuously, day by day, week by week, hour by hour, with words, pictures,
images, ideas, thoughts, and information consistent with your goals and your ideals.
Keep your mind on what you want, keep it off of what you don't want, and everything is possible
for you. Survived 100% of your worst days, and here you are still standing. Not one hurdle,
not one setback, not one trial, tribulation, nothing has held you back. Nothing has stopped
you from moving forward, and nothing has made you quit. Every difficult thing that you've been
through in life, physically, mentally, you overcame. You pushed it to one side, and that's
proof that you can do that again. There truly is nothing to fear in this life, bro. You can get
through whatever life throws at you. And again, right up until this very moment, you've done
exactly that. So the next time life throws you that curveball, the next time you feel like
everything's gone to ----, just remember that, and remind yourself of who you truly are. Because
as cliche as this sounds, bro, that's how winners are made. That is how you make it to the top. And
the last thing to remember, it was never supposed to be easy. If you move through life with that
mentality, how can anything stop you? How can there ever be a negative experience in life?
Keep going, my bro, because if God keeps waking you up in the morning, he still has a plan for you.
What's the point, man? Why am I doing all this? Is it really worth it? Because I've been working
so hard, man, and for so many years, let me just be real, I can't help but feel like I'm not
getting anywhere. I'm not getting the results that I should be. And everyone else, they've got what
they want. The money, the job, the life, they're traveling the world. They're getting what they
want. And I'm just like, here, no one sees what I'm meant to be. And I don't care what you think,
but the honest truth, the honest truth, what I really feel is, it's unfair, man. I deserve more.
Why am I not getting it? Is it something I didn't do? Is it me? Is it something I did wrong? Because
I put the hours of work in. I even put money into this, effort into this, and here I am.
The date has changed, but my life hasn't. I haven't. Why am I still here? I just, I don't get
it, man. What am I doing wrong? Maybe I'm not that talented. Maybe they're right, and this has all
been a waste of time. Because the dream I was sold, it's become a nightmare. You've got to stop
comparing yourself. Everything has its time. I know you're not where you want to be yet,
but that's okay. The damage that's been done, it's because we compare other people's highlight
reels to our behind the scenes. This world, it doesn't give you what you want. It gives you the
lesson you need. We want all the riches and glamour in the world using just a few small hacks. We want
to be seen only for our best bits while hiding our worst flaws. But not everything that glitters
is gold. What we need, what you need, is to compare where you are with what you were. To compare where
we are with what we already have. So just work with what you have. Be patient. Start wherever
you are and do the best with what you have. Because someone out there tonight is praying
for the things you take for granted every night. So just stop and write it out. Count what you have,
not what you don't. So don't worry if on this journey you're not where you were meant to be.
There's no hurry. After all, the fruit is the last part to grow on a tree. Good things don't
just fall into your lap. The opportunity comes to those who are always on the attack. So attack.
Live what you dream. Work for what you dream. And do your best always. Just keep on keeping on.
And remember, there's no such thing as a life that's better than yours. Peace.
Self-mastery. Power begins from within. If you're aware of who you are, if you're aware of what
you're good at, what you're not good at, if you're able to see how emotions kind of govern your life,
if you can learn what your weaknesses are and how to control them, you can't ever get complete
control, but awareness is almost enough. Slowly through this process of knowing who you are
and understanding other people and how they operate so you don't make stupid mistakes in life,
you can increase that little tiny margin more and more and more and you will be a person of power.
We try so hard in our lives to fit in. We try to fit into certain groups, certain frats,
certain sororities, you know, among certain friends, yet the people we idolize are most
are the ones that stand out. But when you're prepared, there is no fear. There is no fear
of failure. Because even if you've walked out of something and you feel like you failed at it,
your preparation is so strong that you're going to take that failure and turn it into the outcome
you desire. And most people stop at failure. We've all failed at things. I'm going to continue
to fail at stuff. It's the most powerful tool you can use, but it all depends on how you use it.
A scalpel in the hands of an individual, it can do unbelievable damage. In the hands of a
professional, of a doctor, it saves lives. So it's the same thing with failure. It's how you use it.
It's that drive inside of you. It's what we talk about the dark side. The dark side is filled with
failure, but it's the fuel that burns you like something that's never burned inside you before.
And on some days, you got to just listen to your soul and you got to say, I'm a leap. I'm going to
get to the edge. Most people are at the edge and you're standing at the edge and you're watching
everyone else fly. That's pimp my ride, watch my crib, all this stuff, you know, watching people's
lives on Facebook. You're at the edge, watching someone else live, wondering what it's going to be
like when you jump without ever jumping. And I'm just here to tell you jump because only three
things can happen. You're either going to jump and fly or you're going to jump and fall on something
soft or you're going to fall down hard. Either way, you're going to get back up. You already know you
got what it takes to get back up. Your greatest fear is not that you will fall. Your greatest
fear is that you will live a full life and never fly, that you never leaped. You're not afraid of
dying. You're afraid of dying before the world sees who you really are, before they really get
your fingerprint, before they really get your contribution, before they really feel you. That's
what you don't want to happen. You don't want to leave this place without us knowing you were here.
There's a process. The process begins by first knowing what you really love. And believe me,
a lot of people have no self-awareness. They don't even really know what it is that they were meant
to do in life. They loved music when they were a kid but then they got into law or whatever because
of their parents and then they don't know who they are anymore. Well, do I really like music?
You got to go through that process first of figuring out what it is that really connects
to you in a deep visceral way, what you loved when you were a kid, what still excites you.
Once you go through that and you understand it and you've got some clarity about it, okay,
how do I incorporate that in my life? I know it's hard sometimes. I know you feel lost, confused
and hurt sometimes. But what if you tried to be nothing more than to be beautifully broken,
to fall again and again in your imperfect, flawed, lost confusion as you try to find your way?
When I first saw Avicii on stage, I would have done anything to be him. He must be the happiest
man on earth, I said. He had it all. The travel, the lifestyle, performing to thousands, the success.
But things aren't always what they seem. Success, money, travel and even a smile doesn't mean
happiness. And the face we show the world is often just the best mask that we could find
to get through the day. We're following some sad news from the music world. EDM star Avicii
has died. He was found dead in the city of Muscat, Oman. You've got to keep going. You have
to keep moving. You have to keep evolving. You have to keep loving. Because all the darkness
in the world isn't enough to distinguish one small, tiny speck of light. But one tiny speck
is enough to make everything else around you more bright. When I first saw Robin Williams,
I thought he was the funniest person on earth. He made me laugh hysterically. The type of person
that must always be joking, laughing and happy. The characters, the movies, the stand-up comedy.
He was the best. A mental illness doesn't care how successful you are. And being funny isn't the
same as being happy. For Robin Williams, comedy was the wall he built to hide his darkness.
The mask he wore to make everybody else's day. So, I hate to have to report this.
Every idea of who you are, let go of it. There's nothing fixed about who or what you can be.
Like I said, they're all just stories thread together by the inaccurate dead memories of the
past. You are a real force of nature. A force of nature. Think about what that means. You have a
power innate to you that can't be bought, taught or replicated. Only remembered. Like a planet
brings satellites into orbit. Have faith in your force of nature. It's magnetic, effortless and it
can't be turned on or off. People have survived slavery. People have survived concentration camps
and still found meaning. People have survived heartbreak, loss, death, grief, sadness, betrayal,
confusion. All these things for years. When we see a sign on a car that says baby on board or
handicapped driver, naturally we're more patient with the driver. We slow down and give them space
to drive because we know there's a vulnerable person inside. Would we be so considerate if
the sign wasn't there? I can almost definitely say no. The truth is we don't know what people
are going through. Because people don't wear signs to illustrate their struggles. You don't
see a sign attached to somebody saying I'm going through a divorce or I've lost a child or I'm
feeling depressed or I've been diagnosed with cancer. If we could visually see what those
around us were going through we would definitely be kinder. We're all connected. We're all together
in this. At the reduction of our identities of self lies real unity. So trust me, you will find a
way. They can't ever stop you. You will seep through every crack, grow around every obstacle,
rise to every challenge because you are that and that is you. Pain is relative and everybody around
you is going through their own pain and it's a pain we know nothing about. A pain that's often
masked with a smile to protect the vulnerable person inside. Whether we know what's going on
or not we have to treat everybody as if they're wearing a sign that we can't see. Mental health
issues are invisible illnesses that don't always look the same from the outside. You can have
everything in the world but still be unhappy and that's not because you're hard to please or you're
just never satisfied it's because pain, sadness and depression do not discriminate. We often make
the mistake of thinking the answer to our happiness lies in having the life of somebody else without
realizing that many of the people we wish we were are going through struggles so painful that they
wish they were someone else too. So another year has come and gone and a lot of us are the same
place we were last year. What the f*** are you waiting on? We sleep one third of our f***ing lives
and we think we can take f***ing days off. We think we have the right to sit back
and give ourselves f***ing options on which way we're gonna go in life.
Am I gonna run today? Am I gonna work out today while it's Christmas?
It's New Year's. It's my birthday. You think time gives a f*** that it's Christmas?
That it's New Year's? That it's your birthday? You're giving yourself too many f***ing options.
Let me tell you one thing. Time is running out. You keep on sitting around wondering what the f***
you want to do. You're just gonna run out of time. So make sure you do one thing. Stop f***ing
crying. That may take time off but you can't afford to. When you face something real, something
genuine, something challenging, you find out what you're made of. And everything that you face must
also face you. And in you, you have a toolkit. You have your will. You have your determination.
You have your faith. You have your past experiences to build from. When we encounter adversity in
opposition, you keep it pushing. A lot of people done sacrificed for you to be in this moment.
Knowing that a cat's mother had worked for them to be in that situation. Knowing that a coach
has sacrificed to put them in that situation. Teachers believed in them, put them in that
situation. And cats came in every single day and treated it like it was nothing. I'm talking about
what will you do with the vehicle that you've been blessed with every single day to become a better
That's it. Never give up. You should never quit because there is never going to be something that
comes up against you that you are not personally prepared to face. Because this is your arena
and God never puts you in an arena that he doesn't accompany you into. Here's what I discovered that
happens to your life. That you will go through things and while you're going through them,
you can't understand why it's happening to you. But after you go through it, you get back and
you look at it and you say, oh, now I understand why I needed that lesson. If you want to know
something about yourself, sit on your bed one night and say, what's one thing I'm doing wrong
that I know I'm doing wrong, that I could fix, that I would fix. You meditate on that, you'll
get an answer and it won't be one you want, but it'll be the necessary one. It's hard. Easy
is not an option. It's hard living. Life is hard. It's hard when you are 49 years old, been working
on a job for 17 years and they come in and tell you you're finished and give you one week severance
and you have to start all over again. It's hard when you are married and raising children and
your children are crawling and your husband dies unexpectedly. It's hard handling just
the tragedies of life. It's hard. To those of us who are living, we have an obligation to live
our lives to the absolute fullest. Life is one big tug of war and you don't win that tug of war
by pushing the road. You have to pull that mother and a lot of times you have to pull yourself
through life. This morning, I did not want to get up, so I had to pull my ass out of bed, but guess
what? The more and more I got into that run, each step into that run, I started gaining more and
more confidence, but to gain that confidence, you have to be willing to pull yourself out of bed,
pull yourself out of a funk, pull yourself out of whatever the life is throwing at you
to gain that confidence. When you're working at your dream, somebody said the harder the battle,
the sweeter the victory. All is sweet to you. It's good to you. Why? See, when it's hard,
there's a struggle. See, what you become in the process is more important than the dream.
That's far more important. The kind of person you become, the character that you build,
the courage that you develop, the faith that you're manifesting. You know it was hard,
but you did it hard. Your mind has to be stronger than your feelings.
The feelings keep you in bed. Your mind tells you, get up. You may not feel qualified. You don't
think you have the talent. The odds are against you. You wouldn't have that opportunity if you
weren't already equipped. It's in you, but you have to call it out. You have to start blessing
yourself. You'll be tempted to talk about all the reasons why you're not able. It's too big.
You don't have the resources. You come from the wrong family, or don't curse yourself.
Great act. There's lots of hierarchies to attempt to climb, and if you fail in one,
go try in another. But the point is you're still trying to aim for the top, and what the hell are
you going to do if you don't try to aim for the top? You know, flap about uselessly and whine
about your life. It's not helpful. It'll just make you miserable. You're not reliable to anyone. You
can't help out in a crisis. I don't care what you're going to do, but go out there make something
of yourself for God's sake. Be an honest person, and work, and get to the top of whatever it is
that you want to get to the top of. Stand up for yourself like a respectable human being, and be a
bit of a light on the world instead of a blight. There's nothing people can say, nothing they can do
that can keep you from your purpose. Yes, there may be seasons of disrespect, where it looks like
they're getting the upper hand, but your time is coming. The meal is being prepared. You can trust
the faithfulness of God. Decide to live your fantasy. See, in life, you can go through life, you can
come up with reasons, or you can come up with results. You can come up with excuses, or you can
come up with achievements. You can go through life blaming, or you can come up with solutions.
The choice is in your hands, satisfaction or despair. We can choose that. I will try 100 times to get
up, and if I fail 100 times, if I fail and I give up, do you think that I'm ever going to get up?
No. But if I fail, I try again, and again, and again. For as long as I try, there's always that
chance of getting up. Now ladies and gentlemen, that's what most people miss out of life.
You've got to be willing to risk. If you're not willing to risk, you can't grow in life. Have a
vision of the person you could become, and to reach the pearly gates as it were. See who you could have
been, contrast it with who you actually are, and be disappointed by the gap between them.
And I love chasing that. I think it's a beautiful chase. But what I hope you guys will do, if you
ever find yourself at the pearly gates disappointed in how much farther you could have gone,
to simply ask one question of yourself every day, did I give it my all today? If you took on all
the responsibility you could take on, and you faced everything that you needed to face,
who would you be? And how would the world transform around you? Wondering why other
people are successful is the refuge of losers. It's a loser mentality. It's a loser occupation.
It's a loser practice. Because you're wondering why other people are successful.
You can say you think it sucks, but to spend time wondering why someone is successful,
and hating on someone for being successful, it doesn't do any good.
In your life is a series of, yes, I did. You've won. You've won. Guys, the struggle is guaranteed.
The struggle is guaranteed. The struggle is guaranteed. The success is not. And the thing
that I beg you guys is to have the guts to fail at something that you love. And when you are on
the mud, on your face, and people are laughing, that I told you so's are coming out, that you
remember one simple fact, you loved what you were doing, and you left it out on the field.
What the else is there? What the else is there? What more can you ask of yourself than to really
try? To really say, I give a ---- about this. That's the life to live. That's the life. Like
to say, I care about this. It matters. It gives me purpose. I'm going to fight for this. This
is a group of people I want to serve. And it turns out that if you face things,
it turns out that if you face things that you can put up with a lot more than you think you
can put up with, and you can do it without becoming corrupted. You can also find every
excuse as to why you won't make it. You can find every reason if you look for it as to why you
won't make it. But at the end of the day, there's going to be two groups of people. And one group
is going to be a lot bigger than the other. The one group is going to get told that they can't
do it. And instead of fighting, and instead of working, and instead of saying, well, I'm not
willing to accept that, those people are going to just take it. And that's what society is counting
on. Society is counting on you giving up. Then there's going to be a smaller group. And the
smaller group is going to be the group that says, hey, you know what? I hear what you're saying,
but I'm not willing to accept that. I'm not willing to just roll over and take what I'm given. I'm not
willing to stop trying because you say that I can't ******* do it. That's what you say. That
doesn't mean it's the truth. And I'm going to go all the way out every day. And look, you're not
going to hit it every day. There's going to be days where you're off. There's going to be days where
you're weak. But if that day, instead of bullshitting yourself, instead of saying I wasn't weak today,
what are you talking about? If that day you've known it, and you say, yeah, I was weak today,
and I'm not going to be weak tomorrow, but I'm not afraid to face that. I'm not afraid to look in the
mirror and say today was a bad day, that I didn't make myself proud today. But that shouldn't
diminish who you are. And I'm saying that if you know anybody that had some goals, some dreams,
something they wanted to do, and they did it, denied saying that you know in your heart that
if someone has done it, then you can do it. It's possible. Not what might be, not what could be,
not what should be, what is. Okay? And we have to make decisions based upon what is,
not what we wish it was. I want to tell you this. We're waiting for somebody to show up for our
life. We're waiting for somebody to do something for our life. We're waiting for the perfect time.
We're waiting for the sun to come in the middle of our storm. We're waiting for the perfect
conditions to start. And I want to tell you right now, when you're serious about change,
I want to tell you right now, when you're serious about growth, I want to tell you right now,
when you have to make something happen for your life, you got to stop waiting, you got to start
creating. Till I win. Not over till I get through. It's not over till I get over. Not over till I get
what I want. Door can't open today, look out. I'm going to come back and take the hinges off.
You've got to have that kind of courage, that type of determination. If you want to make it happen,
it's you. That you've got to take personal responsibility to make it happen.
You can't wait for the storm to end. You can't wait for the opportunity to come.
You can't wait for the forgiveness to show up. You can't wait for the closure.
How many of us, we have spent our whole entire life waiting,
waiting on something that we can create ourselves. Obedience is better than sacrifice,
right? But the first thing we do as people, we judge the level of sacrifice without first being
obedient. The Bible says a man is as he thinks. So how you are, the energy that you project from
your mind is what you get. And so that's why the law of attraction works that way. It's because
whatever you project, that signal, the return has to come that way. See, and the difference
between successful people and non-successful people is what goes on in between here.
That's it. They're not smarter than you. God don't love them more than he loved you.
It's just that they thought themselves into a different position. But mastery comes
through deep focus, patience, and persistency. One of the real reasons we don't do the things
that frighten us is because we are afraid of being judged. And so to become fearless,
why not find some time every day to practice becoming fearless? When you make a commitment,
when you make it important, when you decide I'm going to do it no matter what,
life changes for you. See, most people don't keep their commitments to their commitments.
That's why they lead lives of poverty, lives of misery, lives of unhappiness.
Socrates said the uncommitted life isn't worth living. So part of what you must do,
whatever commitment or whatever covenant you make with God while you're here, okay?
You understand what it's like to have people tell you that you can't do it. And I'm going to tell
you something. This is the ******* truth. This is the reality. And if you don't like it, I don't
give a ****. The truth is this. If you're willing to pay the price, and you're willing to do the
work, and you're willing to take the time, and you're willing to consistently get up when you
are knocked down over and over and over again, which is going to happen to you if you're pursuing
anything outside of the norm, you can make it here. Fight. Go down swinging. And I'll tell you,
if you fight with all you have, more often than not, you won't go down at all.
Everybody wants to judge themselves through the lens of a moment.
They want to be cool right now, today. And they're asking themselves,
what's the least I need to do to feel cool? What's the least I need to do to be successful?
But once I stopped asking that question, and I started thinking about really who I could become,
and really harnessing the human ability to adapt, what people need to understand,
humans have become the apex predator, not by being the strongest, not even by being
the most intelligent, but rather by being the most adaptive to change. And when you realize
all of us are born with nothing, no skills, no knowledge, nothing. We're a lump of flesh that
can hardly hold our own head up. We can't take care of ourselves. We ---- in our own pants.
And our job isn't to be great today. Our job is to build ourselves brick by brick. And that
is what separates the truly greats from everyone else. They're willing to put in that hard work.
They're willing to reframe the question from what's the least I can do to what's the most
I can bear. And when you're looking at yourself on that long timeline, and you're saying,
what can I accomplish over the next 10 years? What is the amount of suffering and backbreaking
work that I'm willing to put in and endure in order to become something extraordinary?
That's the key is you actually have to perform. It's not about convincing someone else that you're
cool or looking good on paper. It's about actually delivering a result. It's about
actually becoming capable of the extraordinary. But you have to understand the way the mechanisms,
the very anatomy of the human works. And it works by building things up brick by brick. It works by
starting out terrible at something, incapable of something, and being willing to put in the work,
to grind it out, to become that. And when people can move beyond the words, when they can move
beyond that bullshit, trite stuff that people say, and they can transcend that and see what
it means to actually put in work, to actually get good at something, to really think about
improvement. Everybody just wants to see this ---- come back to them. They want the *******
heavyweight of the ring. They want the jewels. They want the riches. They want the house, the cars.
**** all of that. Want the performance. Want to be great. Want to look at yourself
and believe in who you've become. And even more importantly, if there's no one around to look,
if there's no one around to impress, do I still push? And if at that point, I'm still willing to
push. If at that point, in that circumstance, I still want to be something and I still want to
bring the potential out of myself. And I want to actualize that potential. I want to actuate it.
I want to actually do something with it. Even when nobody's watching, then I'll be proud of myself.
Then I know I'll accomplish something because that's real. That's beyond the bullshit. And
that's where people have to get. If you really want to do something, stop worrying about the
echo and start worrying about the shout. Believe in who you can become tomorrow and let every day
until the day you drop. Be about wringing that potential out of yourself.
Be about building something and becoming something brick by brick.
Putting in that day-to-day work of building something, of becoming capable of something
today that you weren't capable of yesterday, of asking yourself how far you can go,
of becoming obsessed with that process and no longer thinking about the end.
And when you understand the difference between no longer focusing on being a champion
and instead of delivering a championship performance, everything will change.
Because it's the people who build themselves into someone who can give a championship performance
the win. Certainly the most destructive vice, if you like, that a person can have,
more than pride, is self-pity. I think self-pity is the worst possible emotion anyone can have,
and the most destructive. It destroys everything around it except itself.
Self-pity will destroy relationships. It'll destroy anything that's good. It will
fulfill all the prophecies it makes and leave only itself. It's so simple to imagine
that one is hard done by and that things are unfair and that one is underappreciated,
that if only one had had a chance at this or only one had had a chance at that,
things would have gone better. You would be happier if only this, that one is unlucky,
all those things. And some of them may well even be true. But to pity oneself as a result of them
is to do oneself enormous disservice. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and you will be happy.
You don't have to scratch very far beneath the surface of most people's lives
before you find something truly tragic. The only way that change is going to take place is if you
see the evidence of the collapse right in front of you. I think the challenge is that people have
to wake up. And the question is, how uncomfortable do you have to become? And as I've said in the
past, you know, you don't try to fix this. We just figure out a way to create something better.
You don't have to. You're necessarily 65, 75, 85. And none of us know when that moment's going to
come. And I believe we don't necessarily have time. All we have to make an impact is this moment
right now. Tomorrow is not some guarantee that we have. It's not a right that we have. It's a
privilege. Repatterning. It's a process of rewiring. It's a process of reconditioning.
It's a process of self-reflection and awareness and changing those beliefs. When you begin to
realize then, well, I can't respond to the same conditions in my life with the same emotions and
the same thoughts. Because if I believe that the way I feel and the way I think creates reality,
if I'm reacting to the same thoughts and feelings equal to the conditions in my life
in the same way, then I keep reaffirming the same life. The attachment and the identification
of this conditioned sense of self that we have learned to be based on our past, based on our
experiences, based on our childhood. We identify with these thought forms and we identify with
these belief systems and then we hold tightly onto this sense of identification as a sense of
me is who you are, who you really are. Sometimes when you find your purpose,
the real challenges just begin. You're alone. You're alone. You may have a shrink you're going
to. You may have a best thing you're going to, but there's 24 hours in the day where you're alone
in this brain. And your brain is talking to you in all kinds of ways and it wants to control you,
pull you in these different pockets. You got to tell your brain where you want to go and how you
want to go and how you want to get there. You got to control. Life begins to flow these challenges
and tests. Life's way of rewarding you is life believing in you. It knows, okay, you're on this
path so you must be ready. And so to me, the challenges and the hardships and the ups and
the downs and the divorce and the breakups and the difficulties are just life's way of preparing
your soul. You're going to adapt and overcome now. The power to do whatever it is you say
you're going to do, to live with personal integrity, that is a superpower. Most people,
they major in minor things. They focus on stuff that doesn't matter. You look at your body,
where you're starting. Without that, everything else is out the door. You don't want to be
richest man in the graveyard. That's not going to do it. If there's energy, if there's vitality,
if there's strength, it's going to show up in your relationship. It's going to show up in your
business, show up in your life. That's what you got to master. You can't dabble. It's too important.
Emotions are everything. I mean, you got a ton of money, you got everybody loves you,
and your primary emotions are pissed off and frustrated, then your life's pissed off and
frustrated. It doesn't matter if you got a billion dollars or a million people loving you.
Your life is not great. Relationships, intimate relationships especially, it's where the most
juice in life comes from, it's where the most pain comes from, most people. It's worth mastering
instead of dabbling. You know, really looking at what are you going to do with your time
and mastering your time. Instead of having a checklist, you cross it all off, you can mistake
movement for achievement. I want to squeeze out of that time what matters, that creates value for me
and for everyone I care about love. We have the world's information at our fingertips. We don't
have the excuse of not knowing what to do anymore. Who doesn't know basically how to lose weight?
Who doesn't know that if you want to have better relationships with people, you have to be fully
present with them? Who doesn't know that if you want to do better at your job, you have to do the
work, especially the hard stuff that other people don't want to do. We know these things. So there's
no excuse anymore to say, well, I just didn't know how. Most people focus on being significant.
You live in a Facebook world where people fake their life, put new filters, make it look different
than it really is. Tell stories that, you know, are totally full of it to make themselves look good.
Because we live in this kind of false world where significance is more important than love and it
separates us. And the other one that we see most often is certainty. People want to be certain
before they can do something. We're lacking the ability to avoid distraction. Getting ahead in life
is not just about doing the right things. It's about avoiding not doing the wrong things.
That the root cause of why we become distracted is because we feel these internal triggers,
these uncomfortable emotional states that we seek to escape. Well, in the psychological realm,
everyone's going to measure themselves differently because everyone values things differently.
Some people value success or significance. Some people value love more. Some value just
basic levels of certainty. We all have a need for certainty that we can avoid pain and we can
have some pleasure, some comfort. We all need uncertainty. We need variety or we feel dead
inside. If you're totally certain, you're bored. If you have total variety, you're like freak out.
And it's not a balance. It's learning which of these you need more as a person. Everyone's
developed a different set of values in that area. The need for significance to feel unique, special,
important. The need to feel loved. The need to grow and the need to contribute. What would happen
if I turned my whole life around? What would happen if all of a sudden I went and learned
some things that could change it all? Most people's lives, they fail primarily because
they don't open up the possibility. So they never take the actions that could change their life.
And because I asked, how can I turn my life around? Now, what can I do to make things work?
I started getting new answers. You know, they say, ask and you shall receive.
