U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had agreed on a 10-day ceasefire between these two countries.
These two leaders have agreed that in order to achieve peace between their countries,
they will formally begin a 10-day ceasefire at 5 p.m. EST, he wrote in a social media post.
I have directed Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Rubio,
together with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff,
Dan Raison Kane, to work with Israel and Lebanon to achieve a lasting peace.
The two country leaders met in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, the first time in 34 years,
Trump added. Israel continued to bomb Lebanon after the U.S.,
Israel and Iran reached a two-week ceasefire. It makes the U.S.-Israel-Iran truce fragile.
Iran insisted that Lebanon is part of the ceasefire,
while Israel and the White House hold different views.
