The French Riviera was created in 2015 by Tom Byrne at Charlotte's W4 in London. The sweet combination of honey, lemon and apricot work seamlessly with the cognac and gold rum. Whilst a little on the sweet side, it makes for a delicious citrusy, fruity drink to sip on.

Hi guys, welcome back to the Cocktail Blog.
I'm Steve the Bartender,
and today I'm gonna show you how to make a French Riviera.
So this cocktail was first made back in 2015
by Tom Byrne in London at a place called Charlotte's.
I believe it may be a chain bar or a chain restaurant,
I'm not sure.
Yet again, should have researched
before I actually started the video.
So today's cocktail calls for a cognac and a gold rum.
I'm actually using a brandy.
It is a French brandy, so close enough.
I do get a lot of people requesting videos
and specific cocktails.
My list at the moment is like 200, 250 cocktails long.
So there's a couple of ways
that you could essentially jump the queue
if you really want me to feature a cocktail on the blog.
So first of all, to the Patreon members.
They kinda get first preference
because they're financially supporting the channel.
So if you do wanna support the channel on Patreon,
then you can check out the link here.
Otherwise, I've also started a buy a bottle,
or buy the back bar,
and essentially you can buy one of the bottles
and you'll get your name tag on that bottle
and I'll give you a shout out throughout the video
and make the cocktail of your choice.
So there's a couple of ways.
Otherwise, feel free to leave a comment below
with a cocktail that you might like.
I can add it to the list, but please keep in mind,
the list is massive.
So again, enough waffling.
Let's get onto the cocktail and measure out 40 mil.
So one and a third ounce of your chosen brandy or cognac.
Add that straight into your cocktail shaker
and follow that with 15 mil, half an ounce of your gold rum.
Nice, easy cocktail to remember.
The rest of the ingredients are all 15 mil,
half an ounce too.
So fresh lemon juice, straight in.
Honey syrup, so this is a three to one honey syrup.
Three parts honey to put one part water.
So it's still gonna have that intense honey flavor,
but that little bit of dilution
makes it easy to mix into the drink
and when it goes cold, it won't go solid.
And simple syrup, one to one.
To me, this does sound a little bit sweet, this cocktail.
Honey syrup, simple syrup,
and then a bar spoon of apricot jam
from this tiny, cute little jar.
So fill your cocktail shaker with ice and give it a shake.
And then strain it over ice
into a double old-fashioned glass.
Then garnish with a twist of orange and a sprig of mint.
And there you have a French Riviera, cheers.
Really tasty, but I think you could probably
drop the honey syrup a little bit
or use two to one instead.
The honey flavor is kind of dominant
and that overshadows a lot of the other ingredients.
And it is quite sweet with the honey, simple,
and the apricot jam, but it is really tasty.
So some people have been asking about the shooters video.
I did one at 100K, one at 125K,
so some people assumed that I was gonna do it one at 150,
but I'm not, I'm gonna save that for 200,000.
Thanks for watching, make sure you like and subscribe,
hit that bell button, and I'll see you soon
for another cocktail video, cheers.
This one was first created in London at Charlotte's
by Tom Byrne back in 2015,
so it's a relatively young cocktail.
I didn't think that far ahead.
Ha ha ha.
