Boondocking at the lake, making fresh bread on dutch oven/ Solo female off grid living
Good morning everyone. I didn't really want to get up this morning that early but
beautiful. It was worth it. So the forest pretty much started. I didn't tell you what I'm gonna
make today. I decided to, oh you probably know from the title anyway, but I decided to go make a
a bread. Just a bread this morning. A fresh bread. I didn't have my cup of tea yet. Sorry.
So yeah we're gonna do that. I need to make the dough because the dough I think you need to rise
for a good hour or something like this if I remember correctly. So I've never done like bread
in the oven or anywhere so it's really like we're gonna try that out. See what I can do.
So first thing that I decided to do because I need it. I'm making a cup of tea and I also need
some warm water. I think I remember the recipes on my laptop but I think I need a one cup of
warm water but not boiling water. So I'm just gonna put a little bit of water on the side for that
and yeah if you worry about where is the fire, if everything is okay, it's right there. I see
it from here. Everything is good. So that's boiling and oh yeah I need to, I don't have any
cell reception here so I have my little Garmin which is charging. So I showed this on one of
my videos, the Garmin enrich. So this is a little GPS and I can text someone. I have five texts
that I can do. After that I get charged. It's just that the what I decide to use. So I'm just gonna
text Chrome, my boyfriend, to tell him no he tried to reach me and I don't call you back.
That's the reason. So I put a little bit of warm water. It's not that hot. It should be good.
I think I have just one bar. I think I'm gonna be fine. Oh it worked! Yay! One bar. One bar right here.
I tried a couple times everywhere. It didn't work. Alright leave that there. Alright I just put a
little bit more branch on the fire and I'm gonna make that dough. So I'm gonna put the recipe that
I found online, nothing special, in the description and it's just flour, salt and water and yeast.
So I'm gonna make half because I think that makes two big loaves and I'm not someone who eats
that much bread. I love fresh bread but I'm just gonna make half I think. Yeah did I? Yeah.
We're just gonna have one attempt though on a campfire. It should work. So I use those package
focus on those package which is active dry yeast. I made a couple things in the past. I made my
pizza dough with this with the same principle if you want and I made as well my cinnamon bun
last year. So if you like those type of videos where I'm just trying to cook on a dutch oven
beautiful place or any other recipe on the on the campfire, I do have a playlist called
campfire dutch oven. It's in the playlist section so you can go watch that. All of them.
Alright this is the dough. I just put a little plastic so this is gonna rise for an hour,
an hour and a half. This is the mess. Every time that I have flour in the recipe I put flour
everywhere. It's probably not so bad on the floor. Sometimes I just have like explosion of flour.
So that has to stay somewhere warm in the vent. It's a little bit hard. If it was sunny I would
have put on the front. I've done that in the past but it's not sunny yet so I think I'm just gonna
leave the heater on a little bit. It was a little bit chilly this morning so I need to warm up the
vent a little bit. So I'm gonna put that close to the heater and clean everything and
we have to go take care of a fire too. So I probably should have started this earlier.
Probably should start with the bread first instead of starting with the flour
because they need to rest for an hour, an hour and a half. I have a feeling it's probably going to be
an hour and a half because I mean it's not that warm inside the vent and all this. So the dough
can rise and after that have to play a little bit with it. Let it sit for another 20 minutes
before we can cook on it. So I don't know if we're gonna have breakfast or lunch around the fire but
whatever. It's a nice beautiful morning. It's all good. I'm gonna take care of the fire because yeah
we need to have a warm fire for another hour, hour and a half. It's gorgeous this morning.
I can't believe that I found this. Nice little spot. It's super clean like people took care of it
like little bench they made and you know I like that. It's sad when you come to a place and it's
beautiful nature. It's beautiful and you come it's full of trash and full of you know people
didn't take care of it. At least here people took care of it which I love it. Still waiting for that
sun to come right here, warm me up a little bit. It's not, it's chilly but not too too bad.
I wish they had a little trail along the lake. Well I think I'm asking for a little bit too much
right now. Look at the background. It's perfect. No wind, not too cold. I love it. I love that
everything in this province is bilingual. Reg de bas is rule. Enjoy, clean, live. Profiter,
nettoyer, partager. There you go. Everywhere I go it's just like both languages, French and English.
All right this has been more than one hour. Looking good and yes I put the bread on the floor.
That was the only way to get it warm, quite warm.
Look good and smells good inside the van already. So I think I need to get it out of that
punch a couple you know remove the air apparently and I'm gonna put in the Dutch oven
that I put a little bit of oil just to just lightly and I'm gonna have to let that thing
rise for another um 20 minutes I think. Oops I should wash my hand. The Dutch oven is a little bit
dirty sometimes
and I let the fire go down a little bit so we can cook on it pretty soon.
So I think I'm not supposed to do it too much. Just remove the air, make a little dough,
put that here. That's gonna rise another 20 minutes and after that we're gonna be
ready to cook. I'm getting hungry. Let's put a timer. Kitty that's our bread. You're not gonna
eat the bread. You're curious. What's that? Smells good huh? I know you like bread so hey come on
we need to wait kitty. It's not ready. So it's been 20 minutes so we're gonna be ready to cook.
I'm not sure though if it was supposed to rise more than that. Hopefully it's gonna you know
rise and be a nice big bread when it's gonna cook but I followed the recipe so hopefully it'll work.
So what I did I put two little rocks here to raise a little bit my Dutch oven today
because my fire is still pretty warm. It's been like a good three hours probably it's been on.
So yeah I'm gonna do that and this is gonna cook for 30 to 40 minutes. So I just look.
My only mini problem it's looking very good. I think it's close to 30 minutes then the alarm
didn't turn on right away but the only problem is my handle for the Dutch oven. I put it on a
need because I like to put all the the charc on top there and the handle is going down and it's
warm so it kind of mini burned there. So the top of the bread because it rise so much it's gonna
be a little bit burned just where the handle is but the rest looking very good right now.
It need I think a little bit more time though it's pretty beige looking little tiny bit more
gold looking and I can't wait to try. All right I decided to turn the lid in this regular position
if you want. The only reason why I don't do that's because like I don't really have so much like
place to put the the char on top and they fall sometimes but yeah the handle was getting uh
making a little burn mark and I didn't want to make it even worse but it's looking very good guys.
All right guys are you ready? Let's grab this. Oh it's golden. I mean come on guys.
Okay a little bit of burn okay but I'm sure it's gonna be good. So the hardest part
waiting to cool down a little bit. I hate that. So the bottom is on the dark side
so the bottom was too hot even if I raise the um on top of the stone I probably should have
really like remove all the char on the need. Leave and learn but I'm pretty sure I have a feeling
that's still gonna be good really good really good. I hope so because I'm hungry. Okay guys
the moment of truth. Oh maybe it's still too warm. Oh no I'm not patient. I want a piece of bread.
I mean it's okay. It looks okay. It looks a little bit dense. Probably didn't raise enough.
A little. Let's see. Let's try it. To go with that I have some peanut butter and some butter.
Let's try with the butter. Tastes really good but I think I didn't let the dough rise enough.
I think that's the problem because it's a little bit on the like um dense instead of really fluffy
if you want. Unless it's the recipe but I think it's mostly because I didn't let the dough rise.
You know the van was not like super warm even if I put it close to the um the heater you know.
Even the crunchy part is good. It's not too burnt. We'll give it 7 out of 10.
Need improvement from my part obviously. A bit more careful with the heat. A little bit more
careful raising the bread but I have to admit gorgeous view of the lake all by myself. I didn't
hear anybody. Didn't hear any car coming or anything. All by myself eating fresh bread first
thing in the morning. That's a winner. That's a 10 out of 10. Oh my god. I just look at this.
This is on the badge. YouTube channel Mancini Van Life roaming through reality. Tell them Spencer
and Jen sent you. 2021. I don't know the rest. That's so funny. I'm gonna take a picture and
try to send him the message. So his reaction. Jen and Spencer and Jen. Sorry. It is awesome.
That's so cool.
Advertisement in the middle of nowhere I guess.
All right guys. I ate half of the bread. I'm gonna put that inside the van
and definitely gonna eat the rest probably today. So Catty wants to walk. She wants to go play with
the birds. I don't know if she wants to play with it or chase them. Chasing time. Oh yeah.
I think the geese want some bread. I ate it all. Almost. All right guys. I'm gonna have
unfortunately to move from this place. I have to edit a video and I have zero cell reception.
Nothing past here. So I'm gonna move down the road, edit a video and try to enjoy the rest
of this beautiful day somewhere. All right guys. Thank you for joining me and if you're not already
subscribed, maybe take care of subscribing. That would be great to join the big family and I will
see you in the next video guys. Bye.
