This orchid is blooming very beautifully, but just because the medium is too wet,
it has started to rot gradually. I had to cut off the entire flower spike, disinfect the entire
plant with methylene blue, and use this natural formula to stimulate root growth. After just one
month, this happened. Do you see this orchid? It is blooming, but its leaves are rotting.
The main cause is that the medium retains water for too long. The roots cannot breathe
and begin to deteriorate. Have you ever encountered this situation? Comment, rot, nah.
I cut off the entire flower spike, but did not throw it away, keeping the unopened dormant nodes.
This is where new plants can grow. Then gently peel off this layer to stimulate the bud to
develop. Next, I removed all the old medium, cut off the rotten, soft, and damaged roots,
and kept only the healthy ones. Don't regret removing the damaged roots,
because they will cause the orchid to die faster if not removed.
After pruning, I washed the entire plant thoroughly to remove any remaining bacteria and
debris. Help the plant become completely clean before entering the recovery stage.
Next, I mixed half liter of water with a few drops of methylene blue.
Methylene blue contains antibacterial and antifungal agents that help eliminate bacteria,
limit fungal diseases, and protect the cuts on the orchid from infection.
After mixing, I submerged the orchid and the two dormant nodes for about 15 minutes
to disinfect effectively. Now I prepare a natural nutrient mixture to stimulate the plant's recovery.
I use three tablespoons of white rice mixed with one liter of water.
White rice contains starch and mild nutrients, helping orchid roots recover very quickly.
Let the mixture sit overnight. I take the orchid out after soaking in methylene blue and dry it
completely, especially the cut areas to avoid water accumulation that can cause rot.
Then apply cinnamon powder to the cut areas to help them dry faster,
limit fungal infection, and support better recovery.
The orchid base is then replanted with airy pine bark,
helping the roots always have enough oxygen to develop.
Add moss on top of the medium to help retain moisture better. As for the dormant nodes,
I place them on a piece of foam and keep it moist to maintain stable humidity.
Then place them in a cup and close it with a lid that has ventilation holes.
The rice mixture that was left overnight is then filtered to remove the residue.
Then I add fresh aloe vera gel, mix well to create a natural nutrient solution that helps
stimulate stronger root and bud growth. Stir well and use this mixture to water the base
of the recovering orchid, because this is a simple formula that delivers high effectiveness
in stimulating root growth. After that, I place the plant in a spot with gentle light,
avoid strong sunlight, and maintain moderate moisture without letting it become waterlogged.
After just one month, you can see that the orchid has started to change noticeably.
At the base, a small orchid shoot appears and green roots begin to emerge and grow strongly.
I continue caring for it by watering the rice and aloe vera mixture onto the medium. Now the
dormant nodes have also started to produce their first baby orchids. The emerging green shoots and
young roots are clear evidence of the effectiveness of this method. I continue adding water so the two
baby orchids maintain moisture, spray water weekly, and place them in a spot with gentle light.
After three months, the results are impressive. The baby orchids have fully developed with glossy
thick green leaves and strong roots extending longer. From an orchid that was almost completely
damaged, you can now propagate it into many healthy new orchids. What do you think about this result?
