Subscribe! It's FREE! http://www.youtube.com/user/withoutthesnowdogs?sub_confirmation=1 Say hello to Spikey the Husky! Spikey has spent the last few months in a Shelter in Michigan, and with the help of one of the shelter employee's Spikey is now on a new journey in life! Spikey is now at a Foster home to get some behavioral help, in hopes that he will eventually be adopted into a Furever home! For more information on Spikey, and all of the huskies available through Hairy Houdini Siberian Husky Rescue, visit http://www.hhshr.com/ and while you are there, if you can, make a donation to help save other dogs! We spent the day driving across state to help save Spikey, and then we decided to hit some back road on the way home!
It's raining.
But it doesn't matter because we're ready. We got
kennel. Why do we have a kennel? People are gonna be so confused.
Well, depending on what the title of the video ends up being. Right. What's the title of the video gonna be? I don't know.
So we stopped at a roadside park so we can video. So we can potty.
Yeah, so we can go to the bathroom.
Look at that camper that just pulled up behind us.
There's the kennel, but it's empty, but apparently we're gonna go fill it.
We've already been in the car for like
three hours or so and
we're gonna pick up a dog.
Yeah, in the rain. What was his name?
Spiky. I don't remember. I think it's spiky.
So we had to drive. We're 41 miles away still, but we had to drive what?
Four hours. Yeah, four hours to get here. I'm pretty sure it's spiky. I can't find the pictures now.
But we're ready in case he needs a kennel. If he doesn't need a kennel, we'll just fold it up and uh,
I don't want to drag it behind us or something. We were told he's high bite risk. That's why we have the kennel.
Hopefully we don't get bit.
So part of the reason that we're doing this, that we're driving four hours all the way across Michigan to pick this dog up to
drive it like two hours north to drive three hours back home. It's because there was nobody else that could do it.
So, you know what you guys? Even if you can't adopt a dog,
there's always ways to help because somebody else could have done this.
But we were the last resort and we told him if nobody else would do it,
we'll do it because the dog was on the... they were gonna kill him.
Because he's... he's not... He might be high bite risk with food. Yeah, he's a great...
He's food aggressive and toy aggressive is what the shelter said.
So... So we're getting him a lift from I don't even know where he's coming up from. Mount Olive? Mount Olive.
And he's going to...
He's going to Ballula or something.
He's gonna be... there's gonna be links down in the video description if you guys want to make donations to Harry Houdini Husky Rescue.
That's the rescue that's actually pulling the dog and helping rehabilitate him so that he'll be able to go into
a new home.
So we made it to Ludington State Park and we're checking out the campground.
Because we might have to actually come over here camping.
So we're kind of like looking at the sites and checking things out. We like these sites on the edge.
See this? The middle here. There's not really much like shade and stuff.
I like these... That! I want one of those. That right there.
That's what I want. Might be one too long, but it's still pretty nice. I don't think so. I think that'd be perfect.
We're checking out your RV you guys.
Yeah, so we're checking out this campground. Yeah, it's in the sand dunes kind of. Yeah, we'll show you that in a second.
So there's a big dam over there and there's water rushing over it. See that lady's braving it. I forgot umbrellas.
Yeah, umbrellas are way closer. They're in the camper.
So I think we're gonna... and look, there's a boardwalk on the other side of the dam too.
I think we're gonna come camping at Ludington State Park you guys. Yeah, there's really nice paths on both sides of the river.
Yeah, and then there's a path that goes out to the big lake.
Sand dunes. We're just gonna do it on a day when it's not raining. Look guys, they found us in the future.
There's the RV. There's the Jeep. RV. Jeep. I don't see any Huskies though. I think they're missing their dogs.
You forgot your dogs you guys. Oh, and they're up on the river here too.
See, I knew there was a reason why this campground went up here. I love their tire cover. Yeah, that's nice.
And we found Lake Michigan. I don't know what that building is.
But you can see some of the sand dunes and stuff. Indoor pavilion?
There's a lighthouse that way if you want to go hike. Yeah, I don't think we're gonna hike today.
No, I don't think we're gonna do that. But I definitely think we're gonna come back here and go camping.
Yeah, that's gonna happen. We'll do that.
Yeah, because you can see like the sand dunes in front of us. I'll video more as we drive back out.
Even though it's raining, you can kind of see the dunes going this way. There's the lake over there.
All right you guys, so even though he has his back to us, we have the dog.
Spiky! What are you doing? This is Spiky. Look at his pretty colors. He's like, I'm not looking at you.
I'm just going to ride here.
We're getting him pretty good.
The guy we just picked him up from apparently worked with him for quite a few months at the Humane Society down there and
he was still on the euthanasia list because he's kind of mouthy, so
he wanted to get him out of there and get him to where he needed to be.
So we're taking him to his foster home or hopefully they'll be able to work with him and get him to be adaptable.
So now we have another 68 miles to drive to get him to his new foster home.
Spiky!
So Spiky apparently has some issues with being mouthy. He's a little bitey sometimes.
He's also a typical stubborn husky.
Are you stubborn? Yes, you are.
How you doing Spiky?
All right, dude, we're here. This is where you're going to get some help. What do you think?
Oh, he's going to make noise? Oh yeah! You do make noise!
Yeah, you do make noise?
Oh my!
Find some place to eat. That's a good idea. Get lunch.
This is a little late.
I've been surviving off of York Pieces.
You've been surviving off of Reese's Pieces. Yeah, I tried your York Pieces and they're very pepperminty.
See, I didn't think they were pepperminty enough.
Yeah, see I'm not a peppermint fan, so they were very pepperminty.
There's a little food truck we could eat there. Yeah, Mary's Asian Cuisine.
I don't think that... It's right outside of a grocery store.
I don't want a food truck in the middle of nowhere.
All right, this way. This way!
We didn't win at the casino. Not at this one. Not at this one. Maybe we'll go to the next one.
Now we have to go home.
At least it was a pretty ride. We won a pretty ride.
That was fun. We drove along the water to get here. Maybe I'll try to video some on the way back.
We'll see. I'm tired. I'm tired.
Good thing I'm not. Yeah, right?
I drove all the way here. Jamie's driving all the way home.
It's only fair.
Now we have to find our car. Oh wait, I found it!
Good luck, Jamie.
Only the one full of garbage. Yeah, look at this car, you guys.
Seriously.
This is what you call...
A hoarder.
They even have a shovel to dig themselves out.
The key has left the vehicle.
This is the...
Bay... Sutton's Bay?
Grand Drivers Bay? I don't know what it's called.
Something like that.
We followed. The casino we went to was like way over here on this point.
We're actually in a big bay out on a peninsula.
I just wanted to show you guys the pretty water.
While we can still see it.
Look! We found some flowers.
My favorite kind.
We found a seasonal road.
We're gonna try not to die or fall off the road.
That's a massive hole right there.
They even put tires in it.
I don't know if this is such a good idea anymore.
Right? It's definitely a rough entrance though.
Oh goodness.
Oh man.
Here we go.
Luckily we got the Jeep.
No turning back now.
Alright. I guess we're going this way.
We'll see.
So apparently we're gonna go down this hill.
Which...
I don't know how to show you that this is a really big hill.
But I'm kinda looking down here.
That's holding the camera.
Completely looking out straight.
You can kinda see that the hill goes way down and back up.
Kinda rutted a little bit.
Then there's a big hill up on the other side.
But we're gonna see what happens.
Yay!
We got a Jeep.
We can do this.
Here's maybe a way to tell.
Here goes a stick.
Wow!
Now it's in a hole.
We're gonna probably drive over top of it.
Ok. We're slowly going down this hill.
I forgot my GoPro.
Oh my goodness!
That was a big hole.
That's because somebody was trying to go up.
I think we managed to keep all the tires
halfway on the ground.
I think we did it.
Let me get in the Jeep
before you go up this hill.
I don't think I wanna sit here while you go up.
I don't know.
If you're gonna go slow, I'll sit here.
Ok. Just go slow.
I'll let you put it in first gear.
Just go slow.
Go slow.
Watch me.
You can feel the angle of it.
Right?
Don't do it.
A little bump ahead.
Yay!
Here's a dog crate in the back.
Tree!
You're supposed to warn me.
I'm trying to look through the camera.
Oh gosh!
Oh wait. There's a big rut right there.
Is there a big rut?
I don't know. Hold on.
There's a massive rut.
Two big ruts.
There's some massive ruts.
The normal trail is pretty rutted.
You should be able to make it down though.
Should I back up a little?
I would definitely back up a little.
And then just go straight up it?
I might want to
get out and look.
I was just in a big rut though.
So...
Yeah.
I guess we're going this way.
Yay!
We're going to try to climb up that other side.
Hey, I see you down there.
That's the one that's not so bad.
This is the hill that
your Jeep went up.
Over here.
It's not rutted. It's just a long incline.
Oh my lord. Can you guys see that?
It's got to be a hundred...
Can you see that hill?
Look at that hill. It goes way up there.
Yeah, but if you're going to do that,
I have to sit down.
Oh no!
A little bit of slipping.
Not too bad.
I think we rutted it up too much.
I don't think so either.
You can't even see down the hill
when I stand up and look back.
Now you can kind of
see down. So that's the giant hill
we just came up.
I really wish you guys could
experience that. That's a big hill.
Way too much fun.
We found another trail!
Yeah, we did.
Trying to look for the sunset.
We're trying to find the sunset.
I can see the sun on top of the tree there.
Maybe there's a good look out here.
Maybe. So for those of you asking
Greg's watching our dogs.
Clearing right here.
And there's an oil pump!
Look at the tops of the trees.
How pretty they are.
They're definitely lit up.
Keep going.
Go, go, go!
Maybe there's another look out.
We have no idea where we're going.
We just saw the sunset and saw this road
and we're like, we'll go this way.
I'm sure some of you have figured out
by now that we've been gone all day.
Greg's watching our dogs, so don't worry about the dogs.
Yeah, he spent quite a bit of time.
We miss them.
We want to get home, but we're like,
we should take the time to go do these things
and see stuff.
Trying to find a hill. We don't know where we're going.
I don't know. We're looking.
Maybe. Maybe we'll get lucky.
We found the sunset!
We had to drive all the way to the other side of the lake.
Check that.
There we go.
There's the sunset.
Over at Sego Lake.
That looks really cool.
That's pretty.
We almost missed it.
Almost. That's a good spot for a camper.
Yeah, it is.
That's pretty cool.
We found a more pretty sunset area,
so we stopped again to get more video of the sunset.
It's definitely pretty.
Very pretty. Good jump.
Look! Mike and Brittany!
Because of you guys, I got
a tennis racket bug zapper for camping.
Yay! We made it!
Look! You girls did good?
Did you have fun hanging out with Greg?
Was it fun? Yeah?
We're tired. We're going to bed.
Did you have fun hanging out with Greg?
We went and saved a husky.
Is that okay?
Memphis is like, no you didn't bring him home.
Oh silly thing!
I love you!
I love you too!
Say goodnight Pawdience!
