Hi boys and girls and welcome back to Graceful where God's love is everywhere. It's me
Pastor Anastasia and I'm so super duper excited that you've joined me today as we learn more
about our best friend Jesus. Today's special feature comes to us all the way from Canada.
Where my friends Gabriel, Kara and Naomi have prepared a beautiful song just for us. Let's
listen in. Thanks guys that was amazing. Boys and girls remember if you want to share your gifts
and talents for Jesus please ask your parents or guardians to inbox me and I'll be happy to share
it with our friends. That's one of my favorite sounds because it reminds me that it's nature
time and it's always such an extra special treat. You never know who or what we're going to be
learning about with our friend Ryan from Canada. So if you want to learn some more about God's
creation you'll just have to come along with me. Hello boys and girls and welcome again to nature
time at Graceville. Today we're going to be talking a bit about gills. Let's tune in. One year
my dad and I went on a school trip to see some amazing sea creatures. There were jellyfish,
horseshoe crabs, sharks and a whole lot more. As I admired how they moved I thought about how
breathing underwater works. Land creatures have lungs that allow them to breathe in oxygen and
breathe out carbon dioxide. Well gills help sea creatures to do the same thing. The gills on fish
are located in two cavities of the size of their heads. Small vessels called capillaries collect
oxygen and carry it throughout their bodies. Some sea creatures like sea slugs carry their gills on
the outside. They collect oxygen as they move through the water. Job chapter 33 verse 4 says
the spirit of God has made me and the breath of the almighty gives me life. Isn't it wonderful to
know that God gave humans lungs and fish gills to keep his breath moving through our bodies?
His breath is life. Bye boys and girls. Thanks for tuning in. See you next time.
Thanks Ryan. That was great. I wonder what Melissa is up to. Well I think we should check in on her.
Let's go. Hey Pastor Nastasia. I'm so excited. My baby cousin is going to the church for the first
time today. Sounds like it's gonna be a big day. For sure. Everyone will be there for the dedication.
We're even bringing gifts too. I love it. Children are a very special gift from God. Did you know
that the greatest gift of all came to us in the form of a baby? Yes, I'm talking about Jesus.
And when he was very young, his parents dedicated him to God too. Wait a minute. That reminds me of
our theme for this week, which simply says we belong to God. Let me hear Zay say it. We belong
to God. And our memory verse is found in Psalm 127 verse 3 and it simply says children are a gift
from God. Let me hear my friend say it. Children are a gift from God. Psalm 127 verse 3.
Great job everyone. Wait, I know Jesus was God's son but he was dedicated to God
like my cousin will be too? Most definitely and so was I. When parents dedicate their children
to God, it's a special sign that they welcome his guidance and entrust the child's future
into his care. It's also another way that we can follow Jesus' example. That's why today's story
is about an old man and woman who were able to hold baby Jesus our Savior in their arms the day
that he was dedicated to the Lord. Can you guess who today's story is about? Let's put the pieces
together. An old man and an old woman who were both there when Jesus was dedicated to God.
I know this story is about Simeon and Anna.
That's right my friends. Today's story is about Anna and Simeon.
For hundreds of years God promised his people a rescuer and king. Excitedly everyone waited for
him. Some people even waited their entire lives. Finally one night in the little town of Bethlehem
Jesus was born. Simeon a faithful servant of God was amongst those waiting too. God had promised
him that he would see the Messiah before he died. Years and years passed until that faithful day
Marian Joseph brought Jesus to the temple to be dedicated to God. Joyfully Simeon held Jesus in
his arms and blessed him. Not long after an old lady named Anna joined him in blessing baby Jesus
too. Wowzers! So that's how it happened. I'm so glad that my parents followed God's examples and
dedicated me to God too. Me too. So let's remain committed and dedicated for the rest of our lives
because we belong to God.
