Needle in Your Eye? Cutting Trails! 10/15-10/20 2011

You ever get one of those phone calls that just makes you kind of go wow. I just got one of those phone calls that made me go wow and it made me go ow ow. Made me go ooh. Oh yeah. So you're ready for the story? No. It's about my brother. Uh oh. My little brother. Is he fixing his brakes? My little brother. No, it's better than that. My little brother just called me to tell me a story. First thing he says is, I'm okay. Don't you love phone calls that start like that? I'm okay. I'm fine. But. But. And if mom calls you, make sure you tell her I'm okay. Okay. My brother was working on his truck yesterday and he got a piece of metal stuck in his eye. He tried to dig it out all day yesterday and he couldn't get it out. So at 1.30 last night when he tried to go to bed and he closed his eye it hurt really bad so he had to go to the hospital and he has to actually go to the eye doctor tomorrow and they have to continue to try to get it out I guess. If it's stuck in his eye, oh man. He said it hurts really bad. My poor little brother. That's one of the hardest things to have like done. It's irritating. He said they stuck a needle in his eye and they like drilled in it. He's like they put iodine in my eye. Yeah that was nice. I'm like oh I love you. I can't stand people touching my eyes. So that's that's how that phone call went. Anyway we got a quad and we got helmets and we've got chainsaw and some other stuff and we are heading out to the Sportsman's Club to help cut back trails for the sled dog races that happen here in January or whenever they are. I don't think they're in January. I think they're in February. Well whenever they are. The Alpena Sportsman's Club. The Thunder Bay Classic mush race. Search Thunder Bay Classic on YouTube and you'll find my video from last year. But we're going to help cut back trails because it's a lot easier to trim trees when there's no snow than to try to go out there when there is snow. So that's where we're going. He's got a big knife. Oh cool. That's when you know you're having a good time. When you got I know and I've been walking. Yeah. No. We've been pulling the smaller four wheelers through all this brush. There's actually a trail here. Well in the winter time there's a trail here. Yeah it's more noticeable in the winter. Yeah it's kind of hard to tell where it is now. We've been looking for the pink uh the pink thingies. I see you have all your fingers and toes. Oh I got a little cut. Did you? How did you do that? Tell me again. The blade on the chainsaw came off and I'm trying to put the chainsaw back or the blade back on. I had it all open and I'm pulling the chain through like that and it got snagged up and it just I mean that it's a new blade. It don't hurt though. I knew he would cut himself. I told him that. I'm like he's gonna cut himself. And I oiled it. All right they're leaving us behind and it's still nice outside. Oh I almost dropped the camera. Dropped the audience. I know my fingers are kind of cold from driving the quad. I have cold fingers. You're supposed to wear gloves. I had gloves on. Wow. I told you. Anyway um we just got done cutting quite a few miles of trails. We got out here at like 10 o'clock and it's like what three now? Yeah. So we've been out here for a while. It was a lot of fun though. We got a lot of trails cut. Got a lot of work done. It looks like the trails will be nice and wide for the sleds and the teams this winter. Um and now we're gonna go have lunch with everybody that came and helped. Yay. And then back home to finish painting. Fun. Yay. There's some pollution for you. For some reason that just doesn't seem right. Look at all that fire coming out of that machine. More fire. So we got that done and then we decided to paint the wall black and I'm gonna go get red paint to match the cabinet and the backsplash and we're gonna do all the lines in between the bricks red. Look. Gray over white. I'm only painting that. Leaving it unfinished. What do you think Jamie? That's the way I would do it. Jamie's doing this fun work. Between the lines. This is the what second coat between the lines? Uh yes. Second coat between. Watch me stepping gray paint. Second coat between the lines. I don't know if we'll end up having to do another coat or not. My camera doesn't like the lighting down here. Oh it's kind of dark down here. It likes to go from focus to unfocused to macro to auto to sunshine. That's it. It's kind of dark in this corner. We need we need we need the Halloween tree. Yeah. My mom's got a Halloween tree she's gonna give us. Stop. Oh boy. I got all the paint around the edges except for where Jamie's standing done. Now I get to roll her the rest of it and it'll be the first coat and hopefully it will only take one coat of the floor paint. I did two there because that was where that big stain was and then I put the primer on and I thought an extra coat there wasn't gonna hurt anything. So yeah. Yeah. Back to painting. Back to painting. Oh come on you're having loads of fun. Second coat of paint is on the ribs. This is still the first coat of paint on the floor so I gotta do the second coat of paint on the floor which is what I'm doing right now. Well not right now. Right now I'm talking to you guys. I'm gonna put the second coat of paint on the floor. You can see where I primer the floor still. And finally the final stage in this process. You can see it cracks better now that it's dried more. Now I have to top coat these with a clear coat. Floor's all done. Added second coat. Now I gotta top coat all these with a clear coat and let them dry so we can hang them up. Just got home from work. I'm tired. I'm gonna get this done. Gonna get this done. Yay. And I guess I'll just... It says it should happen like immediately.
