This week Pastor Anastacia and Niko remind us why it is so important to be humble while serving God. The story is taken from John 13:1-17.

Hi boys and girls. Back to Graceville where God's love is everywhere. It's me,
Pastor Anastasia and I'm so super duper excited that you've joined me today as we learn more
about our best friend Jesus. Today's special feature comes to us all the way from the
where my friends Carl, Gabriel and their baby brother Camuel have prepared a beautiful song
just for us. Let's listen in.
My faith is only a little flame. But my faith keeps growing stronger. It won't be long till it starts to flame.
Set my faith on fire. That's my one desire. Make my life upon your holy name.
Can't see, there's a fire in me. Turning bright, the power of your name.
Set of flames. Set my faith. Safe on fire.
That was so awesome. Boys and girls, remember if you want to share the cool
things that you're doing to have fun, please ask your parents or guardians to inbox me and I'd be
happy to share it with our friends. This summer I've been on some amazing graceful adventures
and the last adventure that I went on led me all the way to the Maryland Zoo.
And I took some beautiful pictures and videos. Here to share more about our adventure at the zoo
is my friend Ryan from Canada. Let's see which animal we're going to learn about today.
Hello boys and girls and welcome again to nature time at Graceville.
Today we're going to be talking about porcupines. The North American porcupine can be found in North
America and Canada. They can live just about anywhere in dens, grasslands, deserts, tree
branches, forests, or logs. These large but slow rodents can be found on any continent except
Antarctica. They're nocturnal, which means they prefer to be active at night. Now if there's one
thing anyone knows about porcupines is how they defend themselves. Some species have up to 30,000
quills on their bodies. Although they are loosely attached, the quills are not thrown onto the
enemies. Some have scales that make them difficult to remove. When they feel threatened, their spines
or quills stand up and they can shake them, causing the quills to make a rattling sound.
If their predators continue to threaten, they will then charge them backwards. This reminds me of a
word called impulsive. When you're impulsive, it means that you act without thinking. In Proverbs
chapter 14 verse 29 it says, whoever is patient has great understanding,
but one who is quick-tempered displays folly. Let's pray for grace so we can have the time to
think before we act. Better safe than sorry. Bye boys and girls. Thanks for tuning in. See you next time.
Oh there you are. I was just about to check in on Nico. I heard he's up to something pretty cool
with his church. Let's find out more. Hey Pastor, I'm so excited. My church is having community outreach
and I get to help, but my friend Bob thinks he's too cool to help the people in need.
How can I explain to him that this can be a perfect opportunity for us to be a blessing?
Right on track Nico. When we humbly give of ourselves to help others, it honors God.
As good Christians, we should always be willing to help those less fortunate,
just as Jesus gave of himself to help others. Wait up! That reminds me of our theme for this week,
which simply says, serve God with humility. Let me hear my friend Sue say it. The theme is
serve God with humility. And our memory verse is found in Philippians 2 verse 3 and it simply says
in humility, value others above yourself. Let me hear my little friend say it. In humility,
value others above yourself. Great job everyone. So by serving the community, we're actually
following Jesus' example? Exactly. That's why today's story is about someone who taught his
disciples the true meaning of humility by washing their feet. Can you guess who today's story is
about? Who on earth can forget this one? He's the best example of what true humility is all about.
It's Jesus of course. That's right. Today's story is about Jesus.
Since the time of Moses, the Jewish people celebrated a festival called the Passover
every year. It was a reminder that their great God rescued his people from slavery in Egypt.
Jesus and his 12 disciples went to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover together. He wanted them
to have one last meal together before he went to the cross. Everything was going well until
Jesus got up from the table and took his robe off and began to wash the disciples' feet.
But Peter thought Jesus was too important to wash their feet. Jesus explained that
it was necessary for his feet to be washed as a follower of Christ. Finally, Peter understood
that Jesus was washing their feet as an example for all of the disciples to humbly love and serve
others just as Jesus did. Whoa! It's hard to imagine somebody as powerful as Jesus washing
the disciples' feet. Yes, it is. That's exactly why he did it. As our example,
Jesus wants all of us to choose a life of humility and service. So what are you waiting on?
Be a blessing today!
