good afternoon so the next log entry that I will be telling you about is the
log entry at anchor so the first thing you have to write down is vessel is
maintaining a continuous anchor watch you cannot say vessel is maintaining an
anchor watch it should be a continuous anchor watch then the vessel position
checked at regular intervals of time using the type of fix it should be the
radar fix GPS fix then the vessel swing the vessel swing helps you in
determining two things the way the current is going in near your vessel and
also if the vessel is aground so if the vessel has touched the bottom the vessel
is not going to swing so the heading won't change also where the ship's head
is at that moment that is the direction of the current so if there is no appreciable
swing that is during the watch or during the period of your watch it is slack
waters just write no appreciable swing also write if there are any signs of
anger dragging that are observed or not then the next line should be constant
listening watch on channel 16 slash 70 should always be there
GMDC frequency MFHF and the port pilot and VTMS frequencies this is basically a
normal line in every log entry then the safety and security rounds made on deck
or accommodation and the intervals if you are in a high security area it should
be up to you where you write it cannot be constant can be constant hourly or
regular next thing the fire rounds made on deck and accommodation at the time
you are going to take the fire rounds this also has to be done during every
watch of darkness so during dark hours that is a night watch this has to be
made then the master standing and night orders this also has to be written the
night orders he will be writing in the night night order book and the standing
orders it will always be pasted on the bridge then the port and company rules
and regulations complied with the port and company rules and regulations should
be the local regulations and the company's SMS policies so the also the
next thing is the reason the vessel is awaiting at anchor to adjust ETA to the
next port as per port instruction repair whatever it is then if your ship is
carrying out cargo operations the cargo operation details like you write in the
port log so if you are not maintaining a port log all the details will be
maintained on the maids book that's a deck log book so please watch the video
on port log login reset port so that you will get an idea of how to write the
cargo operation details then any one hour notice to engine room standby
information to engine room during the times of watch then again at the end of
the watch you should write the position heading and the weather there is no
cold so it should be the GPS position heading and the weather then the next
thing you have to write is handing over the watch to the next OOW so I will show
you how all these entries are made on the log book so this is my log book the
entries I will be writing at the first column of hourly watches the course
wind all this I will not be writing I will be writing vessel riding to her
dash anchor with how many cycles on where at the place so I'll be making a
general entry here and the anchor position should always be written that is
the position the ship had dropped anchor this is not an hourly position again the
SMS remark it's up to the company which all they will be giving then again on
the log book vessel maintaining a constant watch vessel position checked
at what times using what fix the type of fix I used the anchor dragging if
observed or not again the port and company rules and regulations I had
complied with masters orders then the channels which the watch had been
maintained on then at what time fire rounds were made again why the ship was
at anchor next comes the vessels weather that was experienced during the wars and
I am a second mate so four o'clock the lat long heading and watch had a door to
the next world of you this is how an entry will be made at anchor so since we
are a container vessel there won't be any cargo operations happening at anchor
so I won't be able to show you what I will write a tanker this I will make up
for in the entries at port you can watch that video and find out how to write the
port logs I hope you understood thank you
