Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has officially introduced a new state-drawn congressional
redistricting map that could net the Republican Party as many as four additional seats in the
U.S. House of Representatives. Our new map for 2026 makes good on my promise to conduct
mid-decade redistricting, and it more fairly represents the makeup of Florida today,
DeSantis said in a statement to Fox News Digital. State lawmakers are set to return to the Capitol
on Tuesday for a special legislative session convened by Governor DeSantis, mostly for
redistricting. The Republican Party and Democratic Party are in a fiery gerrymandering war,
starting from Texas and California. Florida's redistricted map proposal comes after Virginia
recently approved a constitutional amendment that would allow the state to redraw Virginia's
and flip four GOP seats to the Democratic side.
