Good morning guys, welcome back to today's video.
Recently a friend asked me, hey like, you're going to put your cats outside, can cats actually
go outside?
And the answer is yes.
Not only can they go outside, oh I missed it.
Not only can they go outside, but they love being outside.
Oh, I'll show you.
Today I just happened to hear a noise, looked over, oh shoot, and what did I see?
I saw our little girl, Teddy, all the way up there, climbing up the tree, hunting, wow
that thing's got some horns, some thorns, wow, I'm going to cut that off today, ow.
Anyway, yep, they love being outside, that's for sure, haha babe, in fact, I was going
into the house and I realized that the cats didn't come to me today.
It's the first day they didn't just walk up to me and I was like, oh my gosh, then I heard
a sound and I looked over and she was way up that tree.
So it's true, cats can be outside and they love it and they thrive.
The biggest problem with cats being outside, of course, is cars, but you guys can see she
is loving life.
We bought them in October, moved them out of the house in April, and to say that that
little girl, Teddy, hated it is an understatement.
She hated being outside.
Now look at her, it's only been like a week, maybe two weeks, not even two weeks, it's
only been like a week and she is living life out there prowling around.
I'm so proud of her.
That's always what I want for my animals and for my kids, I want them to explore their
world and live their best life, but anyways, it is freezing right now, kind of cold right
now, maybe like six degrees, which I don't know what that is, but it's going to be hot
today.
I just spent all morning sitting in the goat field, just sitting there.
Why you ask?
I can't get away from them.
They just make me so happy.
But now I'm going to have some breakfast and then head back out because today is actually
going to be warm enough that I can get some work done around this property.
Also if you saw yesterday's video, you'll know that I woke up with a huge infection
in my cheek yesterday, so I wanted to give you guys an update, I don't know if you can
see.
When I do that you can see, it's still there, way smaller, way less, yesterday when I woke
up and I opened my mouth there was so much tightness and stuff, today I can hardly even
feel that it's there.
So the antibiotics are definitely working, I just don't know how long it's going to take
for this thing to go completely away, maybe to here, and yesterday it was like here, so
it's gone down a lot.
Thank goodness.
The other thing that I did besides antibiotics was I put peppermint oil on it, because peppermint
oil will clear up any kind of abscess, any kind of infection, and that stuff works really
good.
Anyway, I want to show you guys what I bought yesterday at a yard sale for one dollar!
This is it, it might not look very exciting to you, and we've had these before, not this
particular one, but what I want it for is every year, this is like the fourth or fifth
annual party, maybe the fourth, fourth annual, so every year we have a big party in our barn,
we have a big barn party, and this year I want to make a nice big drink and put it out
there for whoever wants to have a drink.
I like it, it's super cute, big, that's what I wanted, nice and big.
I actually have so many updates about our party this year, like we got a band, we got
a band.
We're getting a port-a-potty, I have to order that, but the band is already ordered, we
got a band, we're going to try and invite more people, it's going to be like, last year
was a happening party, a bash, it was so much fun last year, and this year, last year we
did karaoke, this year we're going to have a band, it's going to be in the barn, we're
going to hang up way more lights, we're going to, um, we're going to just make it so much
better.
We're, we have like a party committee this year.
Do you guys see it, she's, she's in the chicken coop, she was in the chicken coop, hi, I just
came out, go waste time, hi baby, I didn't see you all day, you're so cute, yeah, hi,
you guys don't know how much these kittens meant to us all winter, yeah, to see them
thriving and doing so good outside makes my heart happy.
There's honestly so much to do, I want to rake out all this, and then Sam put these
water things here last year, which is fine, but it has a crack in it, so we can't even
use it, or at least not for water, and he put it right on top of our garden, so all
the flowers that are here are stuck underneath a skid there, so I want to kind of clean this
all out, so our garden will be beautiful, I want to work on that garden, I want to clean
the horse pasture, this afternoon I plan to clean the boys' stall, I mean there's just
so much, but what am I going to do, I'm going to take some pictures of my goats, it's my
favorite thing to do, listen to that, do you guys hear it, that's Toph, I don't know why
she, she's always screaming, and it's not because she's sick, or she's hurt, or there's
a birth issue, it's because she wants to go in and eat, she's hungry, she's hungry,
but she doesn't want hay, she wants grain, and I already gave her some grain, because
she doesn't eat in the morning before I let her out, who's between my legs, posy, anyways,
you guys know that I bought this, these things yesterday, you want some, here, look how friendly
she kind of is now, wow, so we bought these hay cubes, and nobody ate it, so then I ended
up putting water on them, this morning, and I didn't make them like wet and soupy, I just
put a little bit of water, so they're like, so they're like this, until he loves it, so
Sam so kindly hung up some more feeders for us, thanks to my friend who gave us some for
free, and Sophie wanted me to put this hay in it, this hay is alfalfa hay, still kind
of hard and dry, and it's actually the kind of hay that goats need, but it's really hard
to get in our area, spring happens, and everybody's cutting their fields, I might be able to find
a source and get some, because in past years I've had some, hey, you want some, you want
some little guy, yeah, I put a lot of water in here, and it's not even perfect, it could
have been a little bit more wet, they actually eat it a little bit like this, like Tilly
loves it, so the reason that alfalfa is so good for them, is because it's got way more
calcium than grass hay, way more protein than grass hay, so important for them, especially
like when they're nursing babies, or when they're growing, it might help her if she eats some
of that to fill up, because she's hungry, remember how big she was, and now she's like,
she still looks good, oh Posy likes it, but it's not for piggies, she's like I'll take
it all, she's eating a lot of it, that's really good for her, I'm trying to take pictures
of them, this little guy, I got a cute picture of him just laying against the wood, but look,
this is what I noticed, I noticed her laying in a tire, but also, there's our little goat
chicken, do you guys see her, yep, she just lays with the goats, she thinks she's a goat,
acts like a goat, might as well just be a goat, look at how high this, how deep this
hay is, can you guys see, how deep it is, how high up it is, I spy with my little eye,
a little Gemma, oh, she is such a Gem, isn't she so cute, the newest babies, this is where
they lay and hide out, if they, if their mom is not around, she'd just be walking around
screaming for grain, and they hide under there, because the big goats, nobody else can get
under there, just the babies, it's been a busy day, I'll tell you guys about it, before
we end the video, when we put everybody to bed, I'll tell you guys what happened, but
right now, Sam is brave, right now, I have one huge job, like I feel like I was running
around going from one thing to the next all day, but now, I have to actually finish one
huge job, the job that I want to get done, is I want to clean out this stall, I want
to get some shavings in the morning, but I want to get almost all the hay out, let me
show you, I've done it already before, look at this, it goes halfway up the wall, it's
so full, and what happens is that he comes in, and he makes a bed, and then we can't
even get in any door, so that's my job for today, I'm going to get it completely cleaned
out, I really love this boy, he is just so gorgeous, it's not going to be warm here until
through May, so it's not going to be warm here in April, it hasn't hardly been warm,
it's not going to be warm in May, by the end of May, we should start to get summer weather,
so to this week, we have two warm days, today and tomorrow, and then it should get cold
again, so I really need to get this done, and it is annoying to get it done, like, take
a look you guys, the pig laughed, he's like, I know what she's going to do, like, it's
so deep, anyway I'm going to do it right now, I'm going to get that door all the way open,
get this door all the way open, two hours later, two dump trucks full, like, I mean
full, you guys, we took so much out, and it's still full, it's still completely full, yep,
but we're done for today, we're done for today, so basically I took everything all the way
down to the ground on this side, and then moved all the hay, the clean stuff, from here
over to here, so tomorrow, when we come back to finish, it'll be so easy, this stuff is
just all, like, the stuff on top, easy stuff to just brush out, broom out, sweep out, it
was so hard, like, so hard, it was so hard, unless you've mucked a stall that's been like
this for three months or more, a deep litter method, especially with goats who waste hay,
like, all this bedding is stuff that they should have been eating, but they didn't eat,
they just messed with it, how it works here though, is that when it's cold out, all this
hay keeps them warm, like, it really keeps them warm, you can feel the heat, and then
once it gets hot though, it's like an oven, so it's, they can't, they can't have it, so,
poor boy, Sam says we need to put out his pool, he dumped his water bucket and then
laid in the puddle, I'll get you some water, it's not even that hot yet, but I guess, because
he can't be in the shade, like, usually he just goes in the shelter, because I was working
in there, alright, let's see if I can get you guys out, there you go, out you go, welcome
to your new home, make a bed, I'll give you guys some fresh water, come on, he's like,
I'm going, nice and cool in here for him, get out, get over here, oh my gosh, how did
you get in, you're the one that opened the door, alright, I'm just going to run up to
the house, watch, have a drink, and then we'll be down to do chores, and I'll bring
Sophie with me, and I will tell you guys what we've been up to this afternoon, which was
insane actually, today Sophie and I had like a little open house, where people came and
picked up their goats, and I think you guys will be shocked at who we have left, so that's
what I wanted to show you guys, so we're going to put them in to bed for the night, but you
guys come and meet next year's herd, I mean honestly, we sold everybody, just joking,
but I bet you they're sad, so yesterday Tilly's babies left, and I wanted to sell her with
a baby, it just didn't work out that way, come on Posy, get in there, Posy, in, it just
didn't end up that way, and it sucked so much, today she was so upset that her babies were
gone, so this stall is now completely empty, we are moving everyone around, literally it
was so hot all day, and now it's freezing, and I don't know where those little babies
are, oh they're both in there, you can tell it's cold when the babies disappear, come
here babies, let's put your sweaters on, come here, oh you're warm, alright, so we're going
to put, alright, there's one, and if I bend down here, this little white boy jumps on
my back, come here sweetie, oh you're warm and cozy, Toffee is moving over here with
her babies, and she's going to share a stall with Winnie and her babies, it literally got
so cold, I can't even believe it, I'm out here with short sleeves, I'm allergic to cold,
I'm frozen, I'm missing it, but that's it, that's all the goats we have left, wow, we
sold all of our goats, I actually didn't even believe, I didn't know it would look like
this, alright, so let me show you our going into winter hurt, so we've got these two girls,
Winnie and Toffee, Winnie's two, boy and girl, Toffee's boy and girl, I'll get you guys some
fresh water, but yep, this is their stall, they're going to live in here, we still have
to find a home for this little guy, and this little guy is going to his new home next week,
so he already has a home, and he's leaving, but he hasn't left yet, so there will be two
less goats, eventually there will only be, whoa, Sylvie this may not work out, no, they
have to settle themselves down, they're not just going to be happy together on first day,
alright, so there will only be four goats, two mamas and two girls in this stall, so
we still have two boys that are leaving, over in this stall we only have two girls, that's
six goats so far, over here we used to have four goats, we sold our Millie, one of Blossom's
babies, Millie went to a new home today, so we only have three girls over here instead
of four, so that's nine, nine goats, and then over here, you guys probably noticed
that Tilly is gone, and that one almost broke my heart, she, people came to pick her up,
and she was looking at me like, she was looking, she, that goat can speak to you, and she was
looking in my eyes and asking me like, why are they here, what's happening, she hated
it so much, but she went willingly, and she, I cut her toes, like her nails before she
left, and she was the best she's ever been, like, I just feel bad for her, she's gonna
be in, she's gonna be in a little herd, and yeah, I don't know, oh, it killed me, and
even Sam said, if she didn't have horns, I would have kept her, but she's, she, goats
with horns know they have horns, and they use those horns, and because nobody else has
horns, it's just not fair, it just, it's just been a nightmare with her, with all of them
with the horns. Three boys are going to a friend of mine, they all are going to the
same home, so those guys will be in the same home, and Lola will be over here, Lola will
be over here, with the girl, with her daughter, and with these two, so there will be four
over here, four over there, and three over there, so is that eleven? Four, eight, nine,
ten, eleven, yeah, eleven, wait a minute, we're missing a goat, oh yeah, okay, so, alright,
this is so confusing, so this boy, this boy, and this boy are all going to my friend, so
she's taking three boys, they're gonna be weathers, this is not gonna work, Sophie,
no, you can't kill, and she, this mom doesn't protect them, so it's not like, yeah, this
is not gonna work, let's switch it up, Lola with them, but then, no, Sophie, chill sister,
we can't, we can't leave this, alright, so we're gonna make some changes, I also wanted
to say that we made choices for our goats that would be in the best interest of them,
so the little, so Tilly's daughter, and one of the little baby black girls went to the
same home, Zoe, our brown girl, and another one of her babies, one of her black babies,
and Millie all went to the same home, so we tried to place people, we tried to place goats
in homes where they had a friend with them, and or a baby, so we placed most of our babies
from this year, the ones that we weren't keeping, in homes together, the only one who went separately
was Tilly's boy, and then our bottle babies, two of our bottle babies went together, one
bottle baby went alone, so yeah, we did our best to make sure, to make the best decisions
for our herd, but selling Tilly killed me, like I was the only time I almost cried selling
our goats, okay, they were like, are we going back to our old stall, nope, no you're not,
you're gonna try and go in with, with Winnie, we wanna try and keep all of our goats on
this side of the barn, if we can, come on Lola, her babies just go wherever she says
Pippa, alright, we're gonna watch for a few minutes, just to make sure, she's like, yeah,
I remember, I've been in every stall now, what, yeah, she, yeah, this used to be her
stall, remember this used to be your stall when you had your babies last year, now the
chicken is chasing them, alright, we're just gonna watch and make sure that these two are
good together, Lola's the boss, so, Lola's chill with babies though, we should've actually
put Lola with, with, with, with Toffee, because she'll keep her in line, yeah, but Toffee
was beating up the babies, yeah, that's, Toffee's extra protective, and Millie, no, Winnie doesn't
care about anything, uh-oh, she's already bossing her around, uh-oh, okay, they're not
gonna be chill together the first day then, yeah, that's true, but I don't want anybody
so stressed out, I do not know how many we had last year, I do not know how many we had
before we sold all of our goats, or, or rehomed some of them, all I know is that we have a
lot of, that we pared down a lot, we pared down a lot, I sold all of the babies from
last year that we kept, except for Oakley, and except for Winnie, no, so we have 11,
and then we have 12, 13, 14 with the boys, and we have another boy on the way, so we'll
have 15 goats going into winter, unless, unless Oakley has a girl that we absolutely have
to keep, but everybody's been having twins this year, boy, girl, twins, so, chances are
at the most we'll keep one more baby, we had 24, like today, but for everybody that's
left, before any of them left, before any of them left, we had 24 goats from all these
babies, and now we're down to 11 goats, some of them are leaving next week, anyway, it
feels good, other than Tilly, it feels great to not have any, not to have so many goats,
it'll be easier, Lola, you can be the boss of the herd now, yep, Lola's gonna be the
boss of the herd now, she doesn't know it yet, yeah, seems so, like, so low, what do
you think, Lola, she's like, wow, she actually feeds her babies, they're gonna take over
that, uh-oh, uh-oh, I feel safer with this pair, though, no matter what, like, at least
Lola doesn't go after the babies, yeah, Lola doesn't go after the babies, and she doesn't
really go after anybody, unless they go after her babies, alright, I'm gonna get everybody
some water, confusing, I know, but we sold, like, half of our herd, we got rid of half
of our herd, most of them were babies, I don't have, like, a heat lamp in here for these
guys tonight, so hopefully they stay warm, and this is a much bigger stall, I'll get
you some fresh water, too, selling babies and selling goats, and raising them up and
trying to see which ones are fit, how you want your herd to be is a really hard thing,
especially for me, and I'm proud of us, we did it, and everything feels so much more
manageable now, and it's one of the reasons that I like to breed early in the season,
because babies are ready to go earlier, and it just sets us up for a really easy summer,
it seems like everybody's really melancholy, they're like, what's happening, I don't understand,
like, she misses her sister, I don't know, this is depressing for me, but it has to happen.
Lola's like, why do I always get stuck sharing a stall, alright, just kidding, we put Lola
back over here, because she tried to kill Winnie, by kill you mean headbutt once, she
like chased her in a rage, chased her to headbutt her once, it doesn't matter, I don't want
any goats being damaged, they can't get away in a stall, outside is different, so these
guys are here until next weekend, next weekend we'll change it all around again.
