The Marlins have a chance to do
something they haven't done here
since 2018.
That would be win a series.
Well in terms of pitching they
save the best starting pitching
matchup for last in this one.
You have a former Cy Young award
a winner in Sandy Alcantara for
Miami and a potential Cy Young
award winner for the Dodgers and
Tyler Glass.
Now last time out Tyler Glass
now eight shutout innings to
give up just one hit struck out
nine walked only one.
The Dodgers are 15 and 0 and
Glass now his last 15 starts
going back to last September.
Yes he did.
Couldn't check up on the curve
ball.
To start the day for Glass now
three to to Kyle and that's
inside ball for just the eighth
walk of the season issued by
Tyler Glass now on one ground
ball towards short.
Kim's got it he's got one play
it's on the first base in time
to get Lopez Stowers advances.
And now the Marlins have a man
in scoring position with two
outs for Xavier Edwards ground
ball right side.
Freddie Freeman's got it with a
backhand long toss to the long
legged Tyler Glass now who gets
there before the speedy Xavier
Edwards and the sign is retired.
There is no sugar coating it
Sandy's not going to do it but
he's had an awful time in his
career against the Dodgers
sporting a nine fifty seven
yardage which balloons to fourteen
point four six here at Dodger
Stadium.
Ohtani swings and misses.
That was a slider bearing in
and Ohtani strikes out to open
Sandy's afternoon.
There's one man going leaping
throw off the bag and that'll be
a base hit for Andy to a single
for the Dodgers center fielder
Kyle Tucker batting cleanup
left-handed batter hitting two
thirty nine hits a fly ball to
Ruiz and left Sandy works around
the two outs single here in the
first pitch from Tyler Glass
now to Liam Hicks.
He turns on and hammers high in
the air up to right Liam Hicks
leaves no doubt.
This is the Liam Hicks coming out
of the party to homers this week
in L.A. that's number seven on
the year and he opens scoring on
the first pitch of the second.
It's one nothing fish to his
seventh home run of the season a
new career high just the second
run that Glass now is allowed in
just his fourth hit in his last
sixteen innings of work.
It is off the glove of a diving
center fielder Jacob Marci around
first and then the second with
the leadoff double is Max Muncy
in his fourth double of the
season.
Dave Roberts disappointment with
the offense last night that they
were not good point blank period
with situational hitting.
If you're not going to slug the
ball then you have to be good in
these types of spots.
And last night they fumbled two
great opportunities.
So it's going to be up to Alex
call one for one off the bench in
the series opener.
His first start of the series
Paul pops it up on the infield
at short base.
Lopez can't see it in the sun
and it drops.
Here comes Muncy and the Dodgers
have tied it.
Otto Lopez is having an awful
time at shortstop these last two
games.
The throws last night sun ball
today first years his glove and
his hand he's got the
sunglasses on it appears and at
some point in time he yelled
Mayday and it was too late to
get help.
So new ball game tied at one
every week spent last year in a
Dodgers uniform.
Yes he did.
The three straight strikeouts for
Tyler Glass now one on the third
second time up for the top of
the order.
Jacob Marcy the center fielder.
And did he go around Pele the
third base umpire Clint
Bondrake.
He said he did.
That's another curveball
strikeout five in the game.
Total four on the curve ball for
Glasner swinging him his strike
three slider down and in Glasner
strikes out the side.
He has six punch outs in the
games inside ball for an Ohtani
starts the inning with a lead
off walk Ohtani aboard for
Freddie Freeman.
There goes Ohtani for second
base pitches a strike throw is
too high.
So he's got a steal at his
stolen base.
Number four for Shohei Ohtani.
And once again just like last
inning the Dodgers have the
leadoff man in scoring position
right away Muncie double Ohtani
the walk in a stolen base and
they can't get him over to third
Kyle Tucker's turn.
It's inside ball for Tucker will
take a two on one Max Muncie one
for one with a double first
extra base hit for the ninth
inning in this series for the
Dodgers.
Here's a drive in the air to
just missed the Alcantara
strands of hair.
Tyler Glass now back on the bump
after striking out the side in
the third he's got five
consecutive case down on three
pitches six in a row.
Tyler Glass now the way that he
shows this breaking ball the way
it looks like a strike until
it's not.
I think that's where it's
another level of impressiveness
struck him out looking with a
curveball strikeout number eight
for Tyler Glass.
Tyler Glass now he is two away
from one thousand career
strikeouts and the Alcantara
ventures into his fourth inning
to work.
He's a lot of run on three hits
O2 is in there for a called
third strike a fastball at ninety
nine miles an hour.
And there's one man gone at
Sandy's third punch up.
Here's Kim that's picked out a
hop by Lopez long throw to
first got him.
What a play by Otto probably
still a little ripe after that
pop up at the second and he just
made up for it a little bit
right there.
Three two is in there for a
called third a cutter on the
outside edge freezes call and
Sandy with his first one two
three inning of the afternoon.
The Marlins have been doing this
all series.
They've been getting that early
jump.
This time Glass now does throw
over the Grand Valley is out
two down a Sterling Ruiz hits a
high fly ball the left field
calls going back on the warning
track for a Sterling Ruiz gives
the Marlins the lead here in the
S.T.A.U.R.I. Ruiz in his fourth
at bat as a Marlin homers
against his former team.
Glass now is in disbelief.
Backoff came at the right times
it would have been a two run
blast instead of a solo home
run.
Marlins back in front two to one
here in the fifth.
Glass now has faced twenty
batters just more than seven
balls in play eight strikeouts
five walks to one that went in
on his hands.
He flares it into center field
that drops in for a base hit.
So Otto Lopez is a board and
believe it or not that is the
first non home run base hit for
the Marlins today and it comes
to open the top of the six.
Otto Lopez takes off here's a
throw to second from rushing not
nearly in time stolen base for
Otto Lopez good for his fifth of
the year.
Now the Marlins have a man in
scoring position with nobody
out.
You've got the guy at the plate
that you want.
Edwards the ground ball hit
softly to second but that'll get
the job done.
Edwards does his part as Lopez
goes to third after his single
stolen base.
They're going to intentionally
walk Liam Hicks set up a double
play.
Marlins on the corners one out
Marlins obviously could use some
insurance and Connor Norby will
have that opportunity with first
and third and one away.
Swung on a miss strike three
another slider nine strikeouts
and career strikeout nine hundred
ninety nine for Tyler Glass.
Now he won't have a chance to
get one thousand here at home
today.
The first time he hasn't made it
to the sixth in a strike this
season.
And Alex Vecchia is coming on to
pitch.
He is not going to face Owen
Casey.
Here comes Mark Pryor to chat
with Vecchia because Javier
Sanoja is going to pinch hit
here for the Marlins.
So here is Javier Sanoja a
three seventeen hitter for the
Marlins this year.
Swung on popped up middle of the
infield calling for it has son
Kim.
He's got his sunglasses on
reaches up makes the catch and
the Marlins come up empty.
No runs Tucker with a lead off
double time running scoring
position to start the six.
Has it not been like clockwork
in this spot over the last week
or so.
But a chance to tie the game at
least here and that advances
Tucker 90 feet down to third.
So less than two outs you get
two shots now to get him in and
tie the game.
Dalton Rushing coming to the
plate.
Sixteen runs batted in Rushing
Flakes it to right field bottom
of six to to a flare to right by
Dalton Rushing and an O-two
pitch.
Finally Dodgers break through
the runner in scoring position
by this game up.
Son Kim has grounded the short
twice one out go ahead runs at
first middle infield backs up to
play for two and he walks it in
the left center.
That's a base hit.
That's some Kim just reached for
it.
And it is the second to strike
hit allowed this inning by Sandy
Alcantara.
Maybe the end is near for Sandy
with Alex Paul coming to the
plate activity in the Marlins
bullpen.
This is a critical juncture in
this game.
The bouncing ball towards third
Pauly quick triggered a second
for one for the first time in
time.
Dodgers have the go ahead run at
third with two out now with
Freeland come to the plate.
This is probably Sandy's last
hitter with a tiny coming up
big old bounce or the second
should get Sandy out of the
inning and it will a quality
start for Sandy Alcantara who
gives up a run in the six.
But that's all the good news is
Marlins stay out of the double
play and Edwards pushes into
scoring position.
And now Klein is on the verge of
working around the lead off
single.
The Marlins need a huge two out
hit from Javier Sanoja and
Harvey lifts one into shallow
right field trouble base hit
Javier Sanoja and the Marlins
lead three to it does not have
to be hard hit.
Sanoja reaches for a pitch low
and away and he just got enough
barrel on it to flick it in a
shallow right and the Marlins up
on the Dodgers three to the top
of the eight.
Well the Dodgers have not lost
consecutive games at home all
season in the Miami Marlins have
not won a series in Los Angeles
since two thousand and eighteen.
And something's got to give here
in the bottom of the ninth and
it'll be up to Calvin Fossey to
save this game something he has
not done in the major leagues
since September 20th of two
thousand and twenty five.
Outside ball for back to back
walks and now the winning run is
at first first and second no
outs.
Corners ready to crash Freeland
at the plate puts it down the
third base side nicely done.
Go on to first the sacrifice
works and now the Dodgers have
a tying run at third and the
winning run in scoring position
and show hey Ohtani coming up.
Ohtani doesn't even take a bat
to home plate and they will walk
in.
Time run 90 feet away winning
run on second one out Freddy
Freeman.
What do you got Freeman over for
today with a double play.
He tagged the runner and stepped
on first.
But one of the umpires saying
here there is chaos and
confusion on the field.
They're calling it a double
play.
If he initially tagged the
runner then stepped on the bat
in the games and this game is
going to be over Ohtani out of
the baseline.
So he's automatically out even
though he tags him and then at
the foot you see there it's the
shoe and then he drags the foot
as a double play just an insane
double play.
I've never seen a double play
like that.
I've never seen one like that
either.
They're just a crazy crazy
double play.
This game is over.
This game is over and the
Marlins are going to win their
first series in Los Angeles for
the first time since 2018.
