Well, well, well... this is a very adventurous episode from Panama! The stars didn't align for me, I think, on these days. I got lost, Chillie was down, and the hike to the waterfalls didn't exactly go as planned. It can't always be smooth sailing, otherwise life would be too boring, right? Watch as I try to turn things around and still enjoy this perfect campsite.
And now I'm going to do quick shopping and we're going camping and hopefully maybe swimming
maybe, maybe, chilly maybe. That's the plan for today.
So as you can see 20, oh that's 20 gallons, no 20 litros, 20 litros. 20 liters cost 19 dollars
so the fuel here it's quite cheap. So basically I get way more mileage in Central America
on their fuel here and Chile doesn't take much oil so I find fuel here is actually excellent
way better than the one in the States or Canada, Australia or Europe because I don't think it's
ethanol and if it does a very little amount so Chile loves it. Right, let's keep going.
Okay now I'm going to show you my truly very favorite supermarket in Central America.
Centro Comercial es muy grande. This is a very large shopping center. Look at this.
I'm impressed and my favorite supermarket in Central America. It's right here around the corner.
Where are you? Where are you? Oh, whoa, whoa, come on, you don't do that.
Ah, I see it, I see it. Outdoor Adventure. I've got it all.
So hot, you guys have no idea. I'm really stressed. It's hot and humid. Okay, here we are. Hooray, this is my
favorite shop of all time. Do you think you can park Chile there? No, we're not going to be one
of these. We're just gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna do it properly. Okay, Chile, that's enough.
Reverse union. The reason I love the supermarket so much is because it's got a big range of organic
stuff and vegan stuff and that sort of product in Costa Rica cost three times more so here it's
very affordable in Panama. So I eat very, I mean, I always eat very healthy, but even healthier.
Let's see what they have. I go a little bit crazy every time I'm here. Be safe, Chile, I'll be back soon.
Every time I go shopping, I feel like a human. I feel like I'm a part of society. I love it.
Rain makes me happy. All right, let's go with
this one. My favorite thing ever. Very nice. I don't know, but these are very, very nice. I like
these ones. Whoa, what's with my hair? All right, well, it is what it is. Oh, this coconut thingy,
it's just the best thing ever. It's just pure coconut water, I believe. 100%. No sugar added.
It's the best isotonic electrolyte. Electrolyte. The best one. Okay, let's keep going. End of shopping.
So I've got fuel. I've got food for two days in case we decide to stay at the campground
for two days and knowing me, we will. So yes, let's keep going. Campground is only 30 minutes
away from here. I really, really want to swim. I'm so smelly and sticky. I had no idea this road
is unpaved. This looks like fun. This is getting more muddy. Where the hell am I? I thought
someone told me it's pavement all the way. Maybe I took a different turn. Am I going the right way?
Yeah, I think so. So there was a road. We turned too early. I see we got, we're taking the long way
because there was a paved road here that we could go through, but now we're doing this mud.
This looks like slippery, slippery and uneven. Let me, actually let me investigate this
because maybe we're gonna turn around because it looks this road just gets more muddy and more narrow.
Yeah, that's just very uneven and slippery, but totally doable. It's just, I don't know what's here.
Oh, a river crossing. What? Totally, I took the wrong turn. Oh, this is bad. Oh, I don't like that.
And this is end of the road. Oh, this is like really heavy. Yeah, no, I'm not gonna do this
road on a fully loaded bike along the river. No, it's just too muddy and then it's sandy
and who knows what's ahead of us. Yeah, nah, I'm not doing it. I'm gonna turn around somehow,
but look at the color of this river. So cool. The green. Yeah, listen around. It's just too muddy
for me. We're fully loaded, Chillie. All right, Chillie, I'm back. You have to turn around, mate.
This is gonna be interesting. I'm not turning, mate. I'm gonna turn around.
I have to work out which way we should go.
We are really close. Literally, we're in the mountains. Well, we're next to the mountains,
so we are very close to the mountains. Apparently there's a waterfall there.
I'm planning to check it out tomorrow, but our campground is this way.
Oh, my God. I just walked across hard property because we had to see our options.
Basically, this campground is like you leave the cars here and then you walk, but we're not
gonna be camping at the main camping area. We're gonna be camping on the side. Therefore,
I can take Chillie in. There's only me and the lady owner, and this place is amazing.
And there's river. We're swimming today. Chillie, I am very happy about that. Okay, let's go.
Gracias. I picked this spot for us amongst these banana trees. How's that?
This is pretty, right? We'll be sleeping next to banana trees. Hi. Oh, you can see banana flower.
I've eaten that flower. Where was I eating it? Ah, in Costa Rica. Yeah. If you wonder how it
looked like, this is how it looked like. Chillie, what happened? Why did you do that?
Clearly, the ground is too soft, and she just fell down as I was setting up my tent. Well,
mate, I guess I have to lift you up now, hey? Okay, honey, I'll pick you up now. Here we go.
Let's see if we still have it. Oh, you are so heavy. What happened? Oh, no. It's like down.
You know what I mean? Oh, nice. It's like, she's like down that way. The worst case scenario.
I think I'm gonna have to ask this lady for help because she's like, she's just too close to the
ground. Here we have a little embankment, so I can't really get into here. I have no leverage.
I can't even. Well, she's just too close to the ground.
Thank you. Sorry, I forgot to turn on the camera. We managed to pick her up. There was a massive
hole, and she really found it. Now, she's got rock. She's okay, but yeah, it would be hard to leave.
Welcome back. Okay, everything is under control. Chillie is standing, tent is ready,
and now let's go for a swim. I really struggle these days. I think I'm in the tropics for too
long. It's like 32, 35, high humidity. It's just so hot and humid, and you sweat so much,
and your gear stings, and you have to wash it, and then it's like two days later, it stings again.
Four more weeks to my break. I think I'm running low on my energy lately.
Anyhow, let's go for a swim. I'll feel better, I think. I must say, this is a very big property,
and it's in a beautiful location. I'll show you in a sec. So, this is the official
campground, but you can't get here with your car, so basically, you have to walk with all your gear,
and this is the area to camp. You have a little shelter there. So, there is a famous
Cascada waterfall just there. I think I'm going to go there tomorrow. It's apparently a 30-minute
walk, but I think I can do this tomorrow, but tomorrow not today. Are you ready for the river?
River is just below. Look at this river! Oh, so cool, right? Oh, yes, yes.
Let's do it. This river is so beautiful. Look at the color.
Cool me down, river. I feel like I'm a salmon going up the stream. Someone is knocking in the morning.
Anyhow, good morning. How's my hair? It's a bit flat because it's raining. Well,
there's a lot of moisture in there after the rain at night. It's 7 30, and we gotta go. We gotta go
to see the waterfall, which is 30 minutes from here. Walking. Imagine this, I'm walking. Actually,
I prefer walking than riding in this humidity. It's so hot and humid, and it's already 7 30,
and it's going to be worse. So we gotta go now. Here we go. We have two kilometers one way. This
is Bob. He's my companion. He's coming with me. My guide dog. And we are on pavement. It's a very
quiet road, I must say. Hi. Oh, maybe he's Bob's friend. Bob, come on, mate. You're going to say
hello? Don't cause trouble. Come on, Bob. Good dog. Come on. We got better stuff to do. We have
a new companion. Hello. Hello. You're coming with us? Come on, mate. Come on. Our new companion.
Yeah, he's very excited. Where's Bob? Bob, don't cause trouble. Where's Bob? Oh, Bob is here. Okay,
this way. There's three of us now. Maybe more. Hello. Hello. Hi. Oh, wow. There's so many dogs.
Wow. One household, at least three dogs. But look, they're so civilized. They don't...
They just greet. They don't fight. So cool. So this is like your... Hi. Hi, hi, hi.
Bob, so this is like your... Every time you go for a walk like this, you just see all your friends,
aren't you? Good boy. Let's go. Yeah, everyone's coming now. I've got five dogs with me. Sorry,
six. Come on. Are we there yet? Not long to go. I can see the waterfall between the trees.
This is very steep. And you definitely need the proper shoes for this because
this is just soft soil and rocks. Are we there yet? This is steep.
Oh, there's no end to this hill. Well, let's do a little stop to film
this waterfall because I can see it very clearly now. What a workout. All right, here we go. Here's
the flight. Now we know everything about this waterfall, but I don't know where am I going with
this road because the waterfall is here and the road goes that way. Do you think there's another
one? I don't know. I'm lost. I think there is a road that you can get closer to the waterfall,
but I just can't find it. Now I detoured from the main road, hoping maybe this is the path,
but this road goes completely different direction. It goes that way, and our waterfall is just like
here behind the bush. Bob doesn't know what he's doing. Yeah, I think I'm gonna head back.
No swimming today. It's been a while. The book's closed now. We don't have the cover laid.
