Rediscovering inner healing, embracing transformation and experiencing the powers of Nature in a Naturopathy centre in Gujarat. This vlog is from my visit to Nimba Nature Cure where i tried Ayurveda and Naturopathy therapies and indulged in healthy food. I was hosted by the team and decided to share my experience with you as well.
Taking a break from the daily fast-paced routine, I decided to recharge and rejuvenate with nature and its traditional healing techniques. Practices like Ayurveda and Naturopathy revolve around a health first approach and prioritize optimal health. I experienced this transformative lifestyle, following a Dinacharya at one of the largest Naturopathy Centres in India, at Nimba Nature Cure. This place promotes natural healing through Ayurveda, Yoga, Reiki and aims to restore harmony between the body, mind, and the spirit. The 150 acres of these serene lands offer the perfect sanctuary to become one with nature. Rejuvenating therapies like hydrotherapy, mud therapy, bamboo massage, Dhara, etc use the elements of nature to improve circulation and immunity. Their carefully curated Dinacharya or the Daily routine helps to lead a balanced lifestyle. This aligns our body with the rhythms of nature and leads to enhanced well-being, balanced mind and inner harmony. I spent a day exploring these naturopathic wonders and I am sharing my experience of this holistic lifestyle in this video
So this is what a health holiday feels like.
Hi everyone and welcome to Sugar Spice Nice.
My name is Shweta and in this video, as you can see, I'm amidst a lot of greenery.
I'm at a place called Nimba Nature Cure.
This is one of the largest naturopathy centres in India.
It focuses on natural ways for healing and wellness.
And this is located very, very close to Ahmedabad.
It is actually barely an hour to an hour and a half away from the Ahmedabad airport
and the road to get here is also pretty smooth.
So I took a flight from Mumbai to Ahmedabad and then a taxi to get here.
The welcome that you get at this place is very, very special.
A beautiful tikka with some jaggery and a refreshing coconut water drink.
The minute you get here, you're handed over their daily schedule.
Dhinacharya is a very, very important aspect
of an Ayurvedic or a naturopathy-based healing centre.
And they claim that it is this daily routine that is the most important
in trying to maintain optimum health.
This is the daily routine schedule and it has everything
starting from a morning walk at 5am, to meal timings, to consultation timings,
to therapies, to even sleeping timings.
And this you're supposed to follow to the T to make the most of your time here.
When I entered the campus, I realised just how big this is.
I mean, it's a really good walk to go around the entire centre on foot
but I think everybody gets an orientation tour in a golf cart
where they can see the whole of the campus really quickly and really easily.
So this is actually the balcony of the room where I'm staying.
You guys have to come here and see the balcony.
This balcony area is literally surrounded by all kinds of bird sounds
and I totally see myself sitting and chilling here
probably over a nice healthy drink and enjoying the nature.
But come, let me show you the rest of the room.
So this is the bedroom, you can see it's quite nice and spacious.
This is the bed area and this here is like a little tea counter.
Now one thing that they told me when I was checking in
is that you don't get milk tea here and I was a little bit disappointed
but I'm really looking forward to all of their different masala teas
and green teas that they have here.
Here there's the washroom, there's one more balcony in the room.
I think this is the only room where I've stayed where there are like two balconies
and this one is one where I can literally see myself doing
probably a little bit of morning stretching and clicking a lot of pictures.
And here we have space for luggage and there's also a wardrobe
you can keep all of your stuff inside and there's a safe.
Now let me show you the room downstairs.
This is the lower room, it's a little bit more basic than the upper one
but still really cozy and comfortable.
The good thing is that this one has a huge bathroom.
So if you're coming here with somebody like a friend or a family member
then you can try and choose this type of accommodation
where you get one villa and the rooms up and down
both can be taken over by you and your accompanying person.
I think the very very different thing about this place
is that I literally feel like I'm enveloped by greenery on all sides.
Other places you know you can see the greenery
but it's a little farther away in the distance or at a you know much greater height
but here it's just like literally all around me.
Seeing so many trees I already feel like I'm refreshed internally
and I've not even yet gone for any therapy or treatment
so I think I'm off to a great start here.
I've been roaming around the entire campus and I don't think I've seen even 50% of it
and the good thing is that there's a lot of green cover on top when you're walking around
so the harsh sunlight doesn't feel all that harsh
and there are also this kind of earthen water spots all over
which ensure that you're hydrated all the time.
Matke ka paani hits different.
Let me know if you guys agree.
Entire campus is spread across 150 acres
and there's not a single part of it which is not green or not beautiful
like you can see this beautiful background of flowers that I have right here.
I think when you're entering this place you'll definitely come across
this magnificent Buddha statue.
Statue or a fountain I think it's a bit of both
and just the sheer vastness of it I don't even know if that's the right word
but that's what I'm feeling.
It's a huge statue and they've actually put on the fountain right now
and just listening to that water and looking at the serenity on Buddha's face
is an experience in itself.
In the night this is probably lit up and may look even better
but even this is so beautiful.
Right opposite the fountain is Annapurna.
Annapurna is their dining hall and I will take you guys inside in just a little while
but first let me show you more interesting places here.
So this is actually their consulting block.
They have two separate ones one for men and one for women
and this is also the place where all of the therapies happen.
They actually even have a small temple inside the campus.
Let me show you.
This is actually a small Shivji temple and there's also Ganeshji and Hanumanji.
The murti actually seems to be carved out of wood.
Probably the trunk of a tree.
Extremely unique.
It's probably the biggest wind chimes I've seen
but this whole area around me is like an outdoor gym.
They also have an indoor one
but having some kind of a workout facility in this kind of nature
I'm sure will be appreciated by so many.
So this is actually a nakshatra, a zodiac garden.
As per the zodiac signs there are different trees that are planted.
I think this is one of the most unique gardens that I've seen ever.
You can actually see the name of the zodiac sign
and the characteristics of that particular sign
along with the respective tree that's planted for it.
Pretty interesting.
This entire part is like such a huge massive walking area.
Walking is a very important part of the daily routine here
and they've actually made a place which is not just very conducive to walking
but also very very beautiful to look at.
Even the floor, there's like a whole bed of grass
and then there are different plants growing everywhere.
Like here there's a little pond of lotus.
So I think all in all this is a very recharging kind of an environment.
At Nimba they follow a health first approach.
Prevention, cure and promotion of health is their ideology
and they have doctors equipped in the field of naturopathy, ayurveda
to help their patients achieve their health goals.
They actually do this by following an extremely unique approach.
Basically they try and create the most perfect environment possible
for somebody while they are here
and they give you different aspects out of that perfect environment
to take home with you so that you can maintain your health goals.
So I'm just going to share with you
what it's like to stay for one night in this beautiful place.
It's quarter to 5 a.m
and I'm starting my day with a compulsory morning walk.
I don't remember the last time I woke up this early
to actually walk in the morning.
I probably have never done that but this feels so different.
The air is so different and it's just so fresh
and just hearing the sounds of those one or two birds, it's wow.
The next thing that we're doing is Shatkriya.
Shatkriya is basically morning rituals.
You get into this place which is dedicated for Shatkriya
and then they give you a bag.
This bag contains this kind of a lota or a pot
and two small eye wash cups
and first you're supposed to take the big lota
and rinse it with water
and then fill it with their slightly warm water.
This water is not just slightly warm but it's also slightly saline
and with this you're supposed to gargle about four or five times
and then you're supposed to Jal Nepi.
Jal Nepi is the procedure of putting water up from one nostril
and removing it out from the other
and this is the first time I've done Jal Nepi.
I was having a hard time grasping it
but probably I did it correctly for a couple of seconds.
Following that with the other side as well
and then what we're doing is
we're taking these two small eye wash cups
and filling it with this different water from the jug.
Now this is Trifala water
and this you're just supposed to wash your eyes with.
They kind of check if you have any other eye issues
or any other contraindications
then they'll tell you not to do it
but mostly everybody is able to do it.
This is just an eye rinse
and after this I definitely feel like
my throat feels slightly more open
and actually when I wash my eyes with the Trifala solution
the first couple of seconds it did burn
but now I think I'm okay.
I don't feel a vast difference as such
but I definitely feel more awake.
Now until it's time for the next activity
I'm supposed to be walking
so that's what I'm going to be doing.
The next activity for the day
is an hour-long yoga and pranayama session.
This morning has been filled with
all kinds of unique things for me.
This activity is actually known as a hydro reflex walk.
So there is like this whole ground of pebbles
and then they filled it up with water
and you're supposed to walk on it
and the pebbles kind of massage
just the right points of your foot.
It took me a while to get used to
the kind of pain and pressure that they give
but there's definitely something relaxing about this.
There's one part of the pebbles that has cold water
and then there's the other part
that gets filled up with warm water
so you can choose what suits you.
It's hot so I'm just walking in the cold water area.
It almost feels like foot reflexology
but probably the most powerful one
because it's constantly giving you pressure
on the right points in the foot.
The next activity for the day is breakfast
and for breakfast we're heading to Annapurna
which is their dining hall.
Now in breakfast you get to choose
between cooked and uncooked meals
based on the doctor's recommendation
and the treatment or therapy for which you're in.
So in cook today they have patra
and this is probably the most simplest
and the blandest version of patra
that I've had in my entire life.
Basically the flavor of taro leaves is extremely apparent.
They're just steamed
and the tadka on top is that of sesame seeds
and inside usually patra has this really yummy paste inside
which is gram flour or besan
and a bit of tamarind and some spices
but here that is not there.
This and chutney is today's breakfast.
In uncooked you actually get a bowl
of soaked nuts and dry fruits and seeds
so pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, almonds, walnuts, a few raisins
and you can remove the water and have them
and you also get a bowl of fruit.
They only mix fruits that go together
so today we have papaya, apple and pears.
Irrespective of whether you're eating
cooked or uncooked meals
you can enjoy some tea here
but mind you it is not the regular milk tea
it is herbal tea.
In fact that aspect of this tea
is probably the most difficult one for me
not being able to have access to tea
even like once a day.
It does take getting used to
so this here is lemon grass tea
that I'm enjoying right now.
After breakfast there is some time
that you get for freshening up, taking a walk
or basically just relaxing
and then there's time allotted for therapies.
Between 11 to 12.30 is a slot
that you can reserve for any kind of therapies
and treatments that are prescribed to you
So right now I'm actually going for
my first therapy session here.
Since I'm here just to experience the place
and I'm just familiarizing myself with the place
I'm going to be trying out something
which is a little bit more relaxing
but also has various other benefits
it is called the bamboo therapy.
Now in this it's basically a body massage
but it's done with the help of these bamboo sticks
so you can see there are different sizes of bamboo sticks here
the longer one is used on the legs, on the back
the smaller ones are used on the arms
and the therapy begins with first rubbing
a little bit of warm oil on the body
just to create an enough amount of slip
and then these bamboo sticks are rolled up and down
with pressure as needed.
Some areas need a little bit more pressure
and somehow this didn't feel like
the most relaxing massage for me
it kind of felt a little bit painful
in certain body parts like my back
I don't think I could handle it
but my calves, my feet, my arms
this felt okay.
So this bamboo therapy I tried in a particular room
which was meant for this kind of a therapy
and now I'm trying a therapy
which is a little bit more ayurveda based
this is the dhara treatment
in dhara basically there's a continuous flow
of certain kind of liquid
which happens on the body part
this of course starts with a little bit of a body massage
so that's what they're doing here
then you can see they fill it up in this container
which has a spout
and accordingly the portion is poured throughout the body
for me this continuous flow of liquid
is the most relaxing feeling ever
and this kind of a treatment
has to happen on a specific kind of bed
because the liquid that is poured
has to also smoothly flow out of that bed
so that is why we had to change the room for this
the next treatment that I tried is a portly treatment
now this is a little bit different
this portly contains mashed cooked red rice
and then it is dipped in milk
and then they actually pierce the portly
now I've had multiple portly massages
but I've never seen this piercing part
so this was the first for me
and what happens with this piercing
is that you can actually feel that rice on your skin
you can actually feel that milk on your skin a little bit more
it doesn't feel so much like a compress
it ends up feeling a little bit more like a scrub
but this is another detoxifying therapy that I tried here
a lot of kitchen and natural ingredients
are used in naturopathy therapies
and one such ingredient that they use here is coffee
now this is a scrub which is made with coffee granules
and probably some shea butter or almond butter or something
and this scrub is applied to the whole body
the scrub is grainy of course
so it does physically exfoliate the skin
the rubbing motion also adds to that exfoliation
so this is applied all through the body
and then they actually use a cling wrap to cover that part
so that kind of makes the scrub stick on longer
and it's of course less messy
and it also gives a little bit of a steam I feel to the skin
which kind of helps in purifying the skin further
so this you're supposed to keep on for maybe 30-40 minutes
and then the cling wrap is off
and then this is washed off
I think a very common thing with naturopathy and ayurveda
is to heal the body from within
and one way to do that is to be able to cleanse your body from within
there is one therapy, colon hydrotherapy
which I didn't end up trying but ended up learning about
and let me just tell you more about this
this is the room where colon hydrotherapy takes place
this treatment uses water to flush out unwanted waste from the body
these two pipes are attached to this machine here
the patient basically lies on this machine
and one of the pipes is directed at the rectum
with the continuous flow of water
the waste that comes out is disposed of by the machine itself
through the other pipe attachment
this procedure uses almost 40 litres of water to cleanse the body thoroughly
this treatment actually helps remove any kind of accumulated waste and toxins
and the screen in front of you shows what all has been cleansed out of the body
this goes on for about 40-50 minutes
and the trained professionals here assist you during the entire process
I think after this you have to follow a simple liquid or a lighter diet
and carry on as per the doctor's instructions
to go through this therapy the body needs some amount of preparation time
now there are different lines of therapy here
there are ayurveda based rituals
there are naturopathy based rituals
and right now I'm going to be taking you to one department
which is known as physiotherapy
which is a very very important department in kind of healing an area
which has been through trauma
adding agility to body and muscle
so let's just go inside and check it out
this is where the physiotherapist does the consultation and checking
and here are the therapy rooms
this here is the interferential therapy room
in this a minor electrical simulation is used on damaged tissues
to help them heal on their own
another therapy which uses electric simulation
this one is to heal tissue damage that is a bit more deep in the body
they also have ultrasound therapy
this thing here is rubbed onto the body to reduce pain
and improve circulation
this here is a more physical sort of therapy
a shoulder wheel
and you hold it and use it as per your doctor's instructions
to free up the muscles or reduce pain
then this here is a short wave diathermy
this part here is wrapped on a body part
and it provides heat to increase soft tissue healing
there is also a larger section for other physical exercises
there's a separate female therapy block
and there's a separate male therapy block
which i think is pretty good
and now it's time for lunch
and i have worked up an appetite
so that's where i'm going to be heading next
this is the thali meal here
i like that they serve in this thali sort of a format
every single day
every single meal
and today we have idlis
there's coconut chutney with them
there's a sprout salad
there's a sabzi
and i don't know whether this is sambar or dal
i'm really hoping this is sambar
without further ado
i think i'm straight going to be trying the idli first
idli and coconut chutney
their coconut chutney is very well done
it's a little bit more subtle on the tadka
still they've got the flavor perfect
now let's find out whether this is actually dal or sambar
it's dal
it's a little bit disappointing
but it's okay
i'm gonna have the idli with chutney
this here is a sabzi
it is seeming like bottle gourd or lauki
very simple
just some tomato
most days their food doesn't have any onion and garlic
i don't think this one has either
but this is like the lauki that i make at home
next i'm going to be trying the sprout salad
this i really like
it's got sprout, cucumbers, tomato, capsicum
not too much of a seasoning
i don't think it's even got salt and pepper
i also feel like the sprouts here are raw
and i personally prefer eating sprouts that are cooked
finally for the raita
cucumber raita on this hot day feels amazing
i told you guys before the food here is mostly without onion and garlic
but i think garlic does have medicinal properties
and sometimes the doctor recommends it for some patients
so they do have a little bit of like tossed garlic
it's not fried
it's garlic tossed with a little bit of oil
do keep it on the side
so in case you would like to have or add that flavor you can
during all meals you'll find some kind of herbal or infused waters here
and there was bhindi water which i saw last evening
and right now the one that i'm seeing is fennel seed water
fennel is soft and soft is the best thing that you can have to digest a meal more easily
and this just makes the whole power of soft i think a little bit more potent
this is something that i actually also have at home
but i also add a little bit of peppermint to boiling water and drink that
so here's some fennel seed water
in the afternoon you get plenty of time to relax and chill around here
and although the whole place is just so calm and serene
i especially enjoyed the pool area
you can lounge on the pool beds or take a swim if you can and feel fresh
you can also practice water exercises and aqua yoga
which are part of their daily routine and recreational activities as well
so every day between 4 and 4.30 there's a concept of post-lunch snack
where they give some healthy juices and probably a little bit of snack
i'm still waiting for my snack but let's just try this juice
i don't know what this is whether it's cucumber or it's ash gourd or what
it's got barely any flavor
absolutely no sugar, no sweetening agent, no flavoring agent
but i guess this is what health in a glass would feel like
so this is my snack here
these two khakhras and in between are chopped tomatoes and cucumber with a little bit of pepper
this is almost like a masala papad but not really
because of the cucumber
like i personally think a masala papad is incomplete without onion
but for a quick evening snack this feels good
one thing about having a dinnacharya is that you can make time for things that you like to do
things that are not like mandatory tasks but maybe some form of recreation
which energizes your mind
it could be anything like reading, some activity or maybe even a sport
for me a recreational activity is something that i rarely make time for
i'm being very honest here
for now let's try this
so this is dinner for the night
we have a mix with sabzi, it's kind of like a tomato gravy
then we have some roasted tomatoes
then we have another chutney, i think this is bell peppers
then there's some nachni roti
and we have stir-fried mixed veggies
after this dinner you get time for yourself
you can either read, walk around a little bit
and then go to bed early maximum by 10 to repeat this entire routine again
one part that i really didn't want to miss before leaving this place
is going and seeing their gaushala
it's in the campus but a little bit away from the accommodation facilities and all of that
so you actually have to sit in a cart and come until a certain point
and then there's a bit of a walk
so i'm heading to the gaushala next
this is as rustic as it gets
so the minute you enter inside it almost feels like you've come to a village in gujarat
because they've tried to maintain that feel
here you can see the olden style pots, the khatia seating
then we also saw a bigger plough
the one that used to be pulled by either donkeys or cows
this is heavy duty stuff
it's not like plain, there's something or the other going on on it
i think about once a week they also have a pottery session here
so here you can see this is something which probably has been made earlier
now i still haven't seen the gaushala yet
but this whole part is a very very different experience at nimba
i think this is the closest that i've been to a gaushala
and there are just so many cows
there are two or three little calves as well
i did go inside for a little bit
somehow it's very overwhelming for me to be inside
and also i get a little scared
but this site is just making me so happy
oh my god they're coming here
so this behind me are bajra fields
i'm really really enjoying
the air inside in nimba is fresh
but out here near the gaushala it's like a different level of freshness
and the land is huge
like there's no factory or anything nearby
there's no pollution
it's just the purest i have breathed in a while
i shouldn't have done this but fresh bajra
i actually happen to see fresh lemongrass plantations over here
no wonder you get lemongrass tea ever so often when you're at nimba
another unique thing about this place is this gufa or a cave
this is actually a cave shaped therapy room
and i have seen so many different ayurveda and wellness centers
i've never seen something like this
sure i've gone and meditated inside a gufa
having a therapy inside a gufa is probably a very very different experience
in terms of accommodation there are three different room categories
one is pramukha which is a deluxe room
this is what the deluxe room looks like
i'll try and mention the charges on the screen and in the description box below
essentially there are two twin beds
you can also get a king bed
and then there's this little dressing table
and the one thing that caught my eye in this room is that it has a foot massager
alleged foot massager in a hotel room
i've never seen that before
and then there's this little wardrobe area of sort
almost like a walk-in closet
and that's the bathroom
and then there's this door which opens straight back out into the yard
the second category is sumukha
this one is a villa with two bedrooms and a common living area
this is the one that i'm staying in right now
and i showed you guys how it looks earlier in the video
and the third category is amukha
which has a bit more simpler living arrangement
the accommodation here also includes all the meals and consultations
but some of the therapies and treatments are charged separately
so that was my health holiday experience here at nimba nature cure
i'm going to leave all of the details in the description box below
they do have some special packages which are there on their website
even their room tariff details are given on their website
so make sure you check the links given in the description box
and for me the greenery of this place
that aspect really really really stood out
just being able to come in such an environment
listen to the words
breathe that fresh air
and you know get back to feeling like
yes i got my health sorted
that's the feeling that i got in my short stay over here
now i was here just to experience the place
and decided to share it with you guys
they were very kind enough to host me here for two nights
the minimum stay that they recommend here is seven nights
and yeah all the other details you'll find in the description box
so make sure you give this video a big like
and share it with your friends and family
and subscribe to my channel for more
if you found this video helpful
then do let me know in the comments
and i'll film more such content for you
and that is really it
i'll see you in my next video
bye
