This video is from my solo motorcycle ride in Zambia. As I crossed the Zambian border, I found myself on a very remote road from Chipata to Lusaka. Due to lack of fuel stations, the traffic on the road was minor so it really felt like I had the whole road for myself. Ok, not completely to myself – I had to share it with the goats ;)

Thank you
And I'm on
Zambian side now
Hello
Sure
Rain jacket
And probably
It's that
It will start raining soon
Wow, that's a nice bridge
All right
Bridge camp
I'm inside
Hello
What's going on guys?
How's the grass?
Yeah, to the left
I'll go to this camp I think
It's open
Jesus, what a driveway
Hello
How are you?
I got to this place finally
After searching and searching and going further and further and further
So this is my little house
Pretty cool, hey?
It's just like
A camp
Well, it's called campground
Of course you can camp but
No, I'm not gonna camp in the wet
But this little house is so, so awesome
I mean there's lots of
Like there's
There's like
Three beds there
One large here
I got my own
Bathroom as well
Pretty flash I reckon
Because guys are out of stock
I give them my tuna
And pasta
Oh, pasta is ready
Al dente
Let me try
Perfect
And now we're frying tuna
And then we're gonna
Eat it
This is what I eat on the road, you know?
That's it, this is what I normally eat on the road
Yeah, that's it
Spoon is coming
Thank you
So do you cook normally?
At home?
Yeah
For your wife?
Yeah
Oh, your wife normally cooks at home?
Normally my wife cooks at home but I do the cooking here
As well?
Oh, here for the guests
And I've done a lot of cooking here
Have you done this before?
Yeah, the pasta
Pasta and tuna?
From the camp?
Yeah
That's good
It's ready
Look at that
Professional
You've done this before?
Yeah
Thank you so much
You're welcome
I start it again
Okay, okay start again
Okay
I'm ready
Okay
So professional
It's like you know being five-star restaurant
There you go
Thank you so much, sir
Thank you
A bit of sauce
Yes, please
I must say this is the first time someone cooked
My masterpiece for me
Let's try
I couldn't have done
I couldn't have done it better
Thank you so much
Thank you
My shower is getting ready
My hot, my hot shower
It goes up
Okay
So the water goes
From the tank the water comes in here
You warm it up there and then it goes to the house
Right
Simple technology
Pretty much
Just based on gravity
And pressure
It's too, too wet
Is it?
Does it want to light up?
Too wet?
And this lodge is on the river
So the river you see here
Yeah, it's quite large river
What's the name of the river?
Okay
Luangwa
Luangwa River
Luangwa
Luangwa River
Luangwa
That's the one
Okay
So this lodge
This lodge is on the river
Luangwa River
That's the one
And on the other side of the river you can see Mozambique
So
Again Mozambique
So close but it's so far
Okay
Time to go
Last stretch
230 kilometers to Lusaka
And then
I'll be there for a few days stationary
Okay
I think you're ready Chillie, let's go
On the other side is Mozambique
As I mentioned yesterday
And
There's lots of crocs
In the river
And apparently a lot of people get killed
A lot of locals
Who go fishing
What's going on guys?
Why are you chilling on the side of the road like this?
Someone's gonna run you over
Seriously
There's so many goats on the roads this morning
It's 9 a.m
And they just
Even if you try to
Ride in between them
It's just like yeah whatever
Pick
Pick your route
They're so relaxed and especially this
This little close shop full of goats
I reckon that's pretty cool
Spot
I'm so lucky I stopped
Actually I'm going wrong way
All right
I went
Wrong way for around 15 kilometers
So I have to
Turn around
And go back
This is not the road
I mean it's a nice road
But it's not going to Lusaka
Yes, this is the road to Lusaka
Yes, okay
Right
I've done 455 kilometers since last
Fuel station
Wow
So now I'm really watching my speed because
On the setup I have
Main tank plus camel tank
I can go up to 500
And I have still 50 k's to go so
I need to like yeah
I'm going like 80, 90 k's per hour
So I don't run out of fuel
Wow, I think this is like the longest stretch I've ever done
Even Sudan
I think was less than that
I think in Sudan we're like 400 kilometers
Stretches
Between the fuel stations but
Here is like wow
400, 500 and there's still no petrol station
So no wonder I felt so alone on the road
I mean now I'm getting closer to Lusaka
So we see the cars coming from opposite direction
But before that it was like no one
Just me and the trucks
And even not so many trucks either
No wonder locals don't own cars or motorcycles
Literally there's no fuel
Oh, dear
I think I see a fuel station
Wow, it's so crowded suddenly
No fuel?
Huh?
No petrol?
Thank you
It was too good to be true
Let's see if we're lucky today
Oh, that's a good sign
Do you have fuel?
Yes, here
Yes
There you go, full please
How many does it take?
Around
It will fit probably now 14
Something like that
I'm very well, thank you
How are you?
Thank you
I like it too
How far have you traveled?
Oh my god, way too far
This is like my first petrol station
Since 480 kilometers
I'm coming you know from Malawi border
That's crazy
There was like nothing
Absolutely nothing there
No fuel
No petrol stations
No nothing
People don't have cars
Don't have motorcycles
Because they can't fill up, hey?
Can I pay with a card?
Brilliant, thank you
And even there is a petrol station
Maybe 10k in this little town
No fuel
I've got two tanks
Lucky, if I didn't have two I would never make it here
So I can go 500k with these two tanks
But now I'm gonna be around the city
So one is enough
That's enough
That's all right
Thank you
Have a good day
See ya
What a great feeling to have fuel again
It's just stressless
From all the sudden
So that's it
I'm in Lusaka
Made it
Hello
How are you?
That looks good
This is gonna be my little office for another week
So I'm staying here in this lodge
With super fast internet
And I desperately need to work on my videos
And backup stuff
And yeah
Malawi is definitely not a country for digital nomads
Was spending like 15 dollars every two days for internet
It was crazy, crazy expensive
But this it's got free fast Wi-Fi
So yeah
I think it's gonna be productive week
I'm at the Troy Lodge
Do you know where that is?
What?
Troy
Is there a road here?
Can I pass or no?
No, there is no road
The Google's just take me through like roads that don't exist
All right, I'll turn around
Thank you
