I teach hooded eyes how to avoid bad winged liner. Then Doja Cat wore one to the Met Gala
on a fully visible lid on purpose. The shape we were told is a compromise for difficult eye shape
just became the most dramatic liner of the night. So tell me again how our eye shape is the problem?
It's not about our eye shape. The problem is that actually every makeup tutorial, every book,
every counter service is built for mannequin eyes. Wide open visible lid symmetrical socket.
So when we sit down in front of a mirror no one ever told us what to actually do. We were told
the wrong things. Only black smokey. Oh no shimmer. This will emphasize. Oh no light colors.
Don't do this. Don't do that. And on top of that the market is oversaturated with products.
Not only it's confusing but also only a tiny percent of them actually make sense for our
geometry. The problem is never you my darling. The problem is the approach hasn't been studied
deeply enough. So I did it. Always start with the under eye. Neutralize any pigmentation or
discoloration first. Please do not slap a light concealer on darkness because you will get an
ashy gray cast. Neutralize first. I'm mixing my shadow base by Happy Eyelids. It's my own brand
and with 02 Warm Pink and a tiny drop of Lumi Glow. Apply with Apex Midi. Blend the edges with
Apex Maxi and the way these brushes distribute and blend the product gives me maximum satisfaction
every single time. The only product that goes onto my eyelid is leftovers. I'm just sweeping
them across the lid. That's it. I am very proud of my Apex Signature Collection because it's what
these techniques were designed for. Apex Maxi is our smart version of tapered brush built for our
brushes. Quick honest note. I'm doing the harder eye on camera on purpose. The first eye I did it
took me 10 minutes. No mistakes. Everything laid down perfectly. The second eye more mistakes,
more adjustments because the second eye is always harder. Symmetry, matching the cot,
matching the wing. Plus I have very bumpy uneven negative space. The area between my crease and
rough skin. I hate putting eye shadow there. I want beginners watching to see this. Even
professionals navigate this. You are not clumsy. You are not bad at this. It's a process. The skill
isn't avoiding mistakes. It's knowing how to fix them fast. With Apex Mini I distributed
above the crease, mostly under the brow and yes it's okay if it gets messy. You'll refine it with
clean Apex Mini. So spread wide. So when you clean and align the edges, edges can look you
know super sharp and even. Apex Mini with concealer and color corrector leftovers will help me
throughout the makeup. Now the cut crease. Grab a matte concealer or foundation. I'm using my
eyeshadow base and flat definer. When doing this step don't hold your mirror too close. Step away
so you can see your whole face. That's how you find the right placement. And the crease usually
sits between your brow and your natural crease right in the middle of that gap. That's kind of
like a sweet spot. You know I learned all of this because I was told my eyes were horrible. Like
every time I sat in a makeup chair I left feeling worse than when I came in. But I knew I wasn't
ugly. My eyes have been the most complimented part of my face my entire life. So I knew the problem
wasn't me. It was the technique and I'm so happy that I didn't give up. So yeah Apex Mini or Mini
for adjustments and softening throughout the makeup. Keep them next to you the best way if you
have a few of each of the brush that you need. So you don't need 12 different brushes. You need a
core brush so that every single brush does the job of a few brushes and have a few of each one.
Oh my god! I hope I didn't confuse you even more. So but yeah that's the best formula. I don't know
how I got that round shape at the outer corner. I didn't have that with my first makeup application.
Anyways I know I have my flat definer and I'm aligning the outer corner to the ascending
direction of my lower waterline. Nothing and I mean nothing goes below that guiding mark.
Now my black eyeshadow base can be used as gel liner. It grips but don't fully dry so it stays
flexible while you're building the shape and that's on purpose. And when you're ready to lock
it down drop it a tiny bit of Duraline or there's a vegan dupe I tested from TikTok shop for a few
dollars. Not as great as high-end stuff but seriously amazing for the price and it does the
work. And see where your wrinkles fall then place the wing. And the whole golden rule of extending
from the lower waterline exists because when you smile your wrinkles sit lower so the wing won't
distort. How great that that wing forms naturally when you do this. You are not forcing it. You are
following your own geometry. Thank you Doja Cat! As always with my detailed brushes like flat definer
and eyeshadow base and you see Apex mini I'm just adjusting and perfecting my shape. Then when the
mapping is ready I like to intensify the liner with whatever black eyeshadow I have or I reline
it with Inglot gel liner. And on my brush I have you know the leftovers from that Duraline dupe
so with that leftover product I dip into black eyeshadows and it works as like a gel liner as
well. Inner corner of course angled eyeliner and with eyeshadow base plus a drop of Duraline dupe
and Doja Cat has dramatic inner corners so great because I can mess up and still make it work
step by step. I like uh when you know it feels like it doesn't work oh my god she's not going
to pull it off ah and then boom. How this could even work? However I'm sure I will get some hateful
comments like oh my god this was horrible. That's the whole point of social media no matter what are
you doing how you're doing you will always get hateful comments but also you'll find people
that will support you like you are relatives. Actually no better than relatives or how relatives
actually supposed to support you right? Back to the technique um all you can see is actually still
adjustments with my angled eyeliner brush and Apex mini. These are seriously best friends and
this is how makeup looks without lashes. I'm always so mesmerized by this difference. For mascara I'm
always using my favorite Tarte tubing mascara and never skipping lower lash enhancement. Then of
course Wispy natural lashes perfect for hooded eyes. I have them in my bio I'm going to leave
a separate link in the description. Two clusters and look at the difference. When I'm doing makeup
like eyeshadows, eyeliner, I always put clusters on top. It works better and when the eyes are bare
then I can do it underneath. Mission failed. Yeah please wait long enough for the lashes to set
and I knew it and I rushed it anyway and they came off of course so learn from my impatience. Okay
so shop the brushes I designed specifically for our eyes. Link in the description. This is a one
person brand, no corporation behind me, just me serving my community and being so grateful for
every single one of you. And please share this tutorial with anyone you think would benefit.
Anyone with hooded eyes, deep set, anyone who's been told their eye shape is hard. They need to
know that I exist.
