We have to make this famous logo multiple times, since it is for a big order. But the last batch we made was not up to our standards. So we decided to remake it, and give you an insight in our design- and creative process.
Can you recognize the logo? Have you ever played this game?
This is a custom order, so the client choose the color scheme and flavor, this means these won’t be sold in our shop.
We do ship our handcrafted candy WORLDWIDE, so if you want to check out the availability for your country check our webshop here: https://rocksrollscandy.nl
Make sure to select the correct country and currency on the bottom of the screen, and we’ll take care of you!
Hello everybody, welcome to another live stream. Today we are going to make a logo.
Flavor will be apple and cinnamon. Reminds me of the Christmas tree, that one was also apple and
cinnamon. So at the moment we're awaiting the batch to be boiled and ready. We need 155 degrees
Celsius to be able to make our hard candy and we're at 141. So that's just a couple of more
degrees. Hi everyone, we can follow the comments in the chat on our big screen television
in our shop. So if you have any questions or remarks, please ask them and we're happy to
answer them. Hi brother, hi, didn't know I had a brother, but hi brother, welcome back.
We're at 44 degrees now, so almost ready, about five more minutes.
Good morning from Sugarland, Texas. Well, that's an interesting place.
Sugarland, this is also kind of a Sugarland. Which candy will you make today brother? Well
brother, we will be making a logo. A logo for a game actually. Just to be
clear, this stream is not sponsored or paid. We just got an order from a specific gaming company
to make a logo and maybe some of you will recognize the logo once we're at it.
48, that's about three minutes away the pot.
Where are we located? We're in the Netherlands.
Hello from Florida. Hi Cathy. So we're up for a Monday afternoon live stream.
I guess for most of you it's only morning now. We're at 150 degrees,
so give us two more minutes and then we will be at it.
151.
I'm going to give you a look into the pot. Hello from Michigan, hello from Brazil.
Anywhere near Eindhoven, that's still a while from where we're at here.
We're in Sluis, that's actually quite a while. I love you, wow thanks.
I don't know you but I love you too. I'm gonna take you to our kitchen.
And this pot is ready. So we have sugar, water, glucose all boiled up to 155 degrees
Celsius. That's 310, 320 for our non-metric followers and viewers.
So that's basically only the United States I guess. Who else is using Fahrenheit?
I'm not sure, that's a genuine question. Who else is using Fahrenheit? Anyone is using Kelvin?
Kelvin, yeah. Are there others? So just added the apple and cinnamon flavor, so everything goes
together in the big pot or big. It's actually a medium pot for us. This is about
seven and a half kilos worth of Kemi. We do make them smaller but we also make them larger.
Yeah, this is genuinely mid-size, medium size. This is medium size, yeah. This is
not our average size. So we're going to make for those just checking in, we're going to make a
logo, a video game logo. The stream is not sponsored to be clear but we thought it would
be cool to share this with you live. Well especially since we had a little hiccup
with the previous version we made. Exactly, so we're not going to tell you what the
logo is or for what video game it's for.
You'll probably see some hints throughout the live stream because we have our
drawing ready and you can take guesses. The color scheme might give it away.
This is actually supposed to be part two of a three-part batch mix.
We made this one previously but we're not quite satisfied with how the previous version turned
out. And this morning we decided to give it a retake. The first batch was actually pretty awesome.
Yeah, that was a bang on. And that's why the difference between the first one and the second
one was, to us at least, so big. And that's why we decided to make it a third time in this case
to make sure that it matches the previous first good run. And now where is the failed
between brackets batch will go in our special mix so we won't throw it away.
It just goes into our happy little accidents mix and that one is at a reduced price actually.
It's available on our webshop as a special mix for those who are...
Because they are very special. Every candy is special. Just a quick question. Can anyone,
can anybody hear us loud and clear? We're doing something different than last time
and I'm trying to figure out if the quality of the audio is on point. So I'll check into the
comments. Yes, yes. I have one yes. Loud and clear. All right. Hello. I have some people in
the shop stopping by. Yeah, so we have a lot of yeses. Loud and clear from Houston, Texas.
All right. Sounds good. Hear you fine. Thanks a lot. Yes. All right. Then that helps us.
All right. So we have our colors ready. Now we just need to wait to add our citric acid and
some white coloring. Just a pinch of citric acid will balance the flavor.
All right.
Claudia.
Thank you, Claudia.
And Mark.
Rob, thanks. Chase, thanks. Brazil.
Good business. Yes, yes, yes. You work. You all make a really good. Thanks a little bit.
That's the French part of Canada or?
Yeah, it's. I'm not sure if Canadians can confirm that in the chat, but
is there an actual French speaking part of Canada or do you speak French all over Canada?
Just not everyone. We do have the same in our neighboring country in Belgium.
So, Bienvenue.
How much time it takes to get candy ready? Depends on the design. Depends on the size of the badge.
This one, well, we already made this one. This is the third time. So we quite know what to do.
I'd say 45 minutes, something like that. Manuela, greetings from the Netherlands.
All right. Cutty cut, choppy chop.
So we have our burgundy color. The snip and the drip. Colors looking good. Happy with that.
And then our beige. It's maybe not really a beige. It also includes
just a couple of drops of black coloring. That's that. And then this is the color that we'll be
using for the image for the logo. And that is a darker brownish black color.
You can't make the mistake that we made last time. And that is that we wanted to make the image
a bit larger. So I think I'm going to stick with this size because we need to pull
about half of this with some white. And that is because we will make an image that will have
shadows in it. And so for the shadow parts, we're going to use the
transparent parts. Yeah. And for the other pieces, we're going to use the same color,
but stretched with white. So we're pretty sure that the color is right, or at least the tint
is the same. It's just a much lighter version of the same color. That's how you want to obtain that
3D-like appearance. Oh, and some of you might know, some of you might not know, but we actually
ship worldwide. So if you're American, for example, you can now check our webshop and see
the products that we have available for you guys. We still have our Christmas box,
but we will end that one on Thursday or Friday latest because we need some time to
ship it to the USA. On average, it takes about 12 days, but it could go up to three weeks.
So just to make sure that everyone in the States receives, or further, or in Canada,
receives their Christmas box, we're going to cut off the Christmas box by Friday. And as usual,
if we see your order coming in in the, or during the live stream, you'll get a huge
shout out. You can put something in the comments if you want us to, or want me to give you a shout
out, or send over a message while streaming. Be happy to do that. All right. So this is a
custom order and it won't be available for sales,
but we are more than happy to show you how it's done.
How much batches do you make a day? It depends, but on average, I'd say
five to six, or between four and eight. Anywhere in between. Depends on the size,
depends on the complexity, the staff available. And sometimes we make small batches of
just very simple candy, and then we can make up to eight batches a day.
Sometimes we make only lollipop, and then we make, yeah, and we make a gazillion.
Oh yeah, French is Canada's second official language, but it's mostly spoken in Quebec.
Sorry, but Spanish is to the USA. Well, we have about the same, or we. I'm going to speak for the
Belgian part of the staff here. I don't think Dutch gets French in school?
Later, we start with English first. English, yeah.
French is only in high school. Okay, yeah.
Yeah.
Where are we located in Belgium? We are actually not located in Belgium,
but just across the border in the city of Sluis in the Netherlands. Most of us are Belgians,
but we actually only live in Belgium, and we work in the Netherlands.
Can you send it to China? Oh yes, we can. We actually have a lot of stuff set up for you guys.
Karim Dore, hello, from Blankenberge.
Hello. We recognize that name. Yes, just a little bit surprised that
that name came from Blankenberge, but I realized.
Where do we source our sugar from? Well, our sugar is sourced locally,
and it's grown and processed in the southern part of Belgium. It's about 80 kilometers away,
and our sugar beets are grown in the southern part of Belgium and processed over there as well.
So we work with pure beet sugar and grown locally and made locally as well.
Yeah, so we'll start off with the top part. We do ship to South Africa, yes.
These sites. Can we send to Texas? Yes, we do. Hello, from Tabasco, Mexico. Oh, cool.
My children love your videos, and so do I. Well, Geron, just so you know, you can also order now.
What's your hardest design? I think I'll recall the Mario again. Mario was a...
Oh yeah, the Transformer. Oh yeah, yeah. Have you ever made coffee candy? Yeah, we do.
We just made yesterday. We made some yesterday. That was the day before, yeah.
But they were Monday. Okay, yeah. Our previous working day. It's been a while since I've caught
a live. Well, welcome, Larry. A special shout out to Elsa. I understand, well, her name actually is
Elsa, but I understand the misconception. It's not a name that you hear anywhere in the world.
I think it's... Is it the Dutch name? Or a German name? Dutch? This is the... Yeah.
Who's your favorite football player? I'm not actually into football.
So I... Mark Amers. Don't even know who that is. Mark Amers was a
football player back in the 80s that adorned my glasses. I had a glass that actually had his image
on it. And he was the pinnacle of masculinity with the blonde porno mustache. A bit like
Jean-Marie Poff? Yeah, it was that era. I think there was a... What is the name? Mark Buckets?
Mark Buckets. Give me proper spelling, please. Is that the one... Are you the one referring to
her name? That would be I-L-S-E, and then you pronounce it as Ilse. It's quite a common name
over here, but it's perhaps not as common. Do we make candy for diabetics? Yes, we do.
We make candy for everyone, but we do have a range of sugar-free candy as well.
You can find a sugar-free mystery box in our
webshop. There should be a link available in the description.
So this is the first part of our image together with that one.
De bovenkant. De bovenkant, yeah. First part. All right, and we have our first order of this
live stream. It's also fun for us to see orders coming in during the live stream.
That person, Karen from Spain, just ordered and didn't leave a special request,
but thanks, Karen, for ordering. Well, as a special treat for Karen, I can say that
just by coincidence, I happened to see where this order has to be shipped to,
and I'm not spilling any beans if I can say that it's supposed to go to Ondón de las Nieves,
and it's actually a city I was in multiple times before in Spain, so I know the region.
What were you doing there in the world? I was on a holiday. I had some friends that actually
lived in the adjacent city, town, in Masiswenda. I've spent some holidays, a couple of holidays,
actually, over there. Okay. A lovely neighborhood with a wonderful view on the mountains.
Did anyone order from South Africa? Just asking. Not yet.
Hello from Queensland, Australia. Manja from Wijchen in Nederland.
Thanks for ordering. No requests or shout-outs. Are you allowed to taste your candies at work?
Yeah, we do, of course. $100, Adil Ahmad. Okay, thank you.
It's been a long time since I've seen you guys live. Yeah, we actually did a live
on Saturday, but it seems to me that at least the engagement is higher when we're doing live
streams on weekdays and on weekends. Yes, and I would say perhaps it has to do with the
time of the day, but for us, it's now 3.30 in the afternoon,
but I can see people checking in from Queensland, Australia, all the way to South Africa and to
Mexico, so time wouldn't be a big issue here. Looks like a rock sample. Well, it actually
is supposed to be rock color. Okay, so you're right about that. The logo that we actually are
recreating today is set in stone. It resembles a 3D image of a stone logo.
Oh, bending the rules.
Have you all ever made a mistake in any design before? Sure. Mistake is a big word,
but sometimes it doesn't turn out the way we expect it to be or that we hoped it to be,
and this is an example. So we made this one two times before. First time turned out great,
the second time not so great, and there was a big difference between the two since we need to mix
them. Both need to be, well, fairly the same. So this morning, we decided to remake this one.
It's quite a big order, and we want to make sure that the customer gets what they ordered,
and we decided to make a live stream out of it to show you that, A, we are only human.
We can make mistakes, but it's how you handle your mistakes, and we try to
deliver as good as candy as possible.
We make regional sweets here in Tabasco. They are served with pozole. The sweets we make are
made with fruit and mixed with sugar. They are delicious. Those sweets you make look even more
delicious. Well, thank you. Gracias. Could you send me a greeting? Yes, I can. Sure, I am
sending all my greetings for my son, Gibran Zahil, who loves watching your videos. She dreams
of trying your sweets. Ah, we love you. And also a hug from afar. Well, thank you.
Hi to Chicago, Sally. Sally Wiener. Next time I visit Holland, I have to come here. Usually,
I just come to chill in a coffee shop. If you get me a lull, I have to come here. We get you.
We don't have any coffee shops in Sluis. No, we like a good coffee. Sure. Everyone likes a good
coffee. And here in the Netherlands, you can find decent coffee in multiple cities. Yep. We have a...
