AI GeneratedThe video documents the rebuild of Woburn Bike Park, featuring a comprehensive test of its new tracks by riders of varying skill levels. From beginner-friendly green runs to professional-grade black lines and dirt jumps, the park is evaluated on its progression, flow, and technical challenges, receiving an overall positive average rating of 8.33/10.
I've spent the last six months entirely rebuilding my local bike park and adding sick new tracks
for all abilities. So let's see what a beginner, an intermediate and a pro rider think of Woburn
Bike Park and more importantly what they rate it out of 10. I grew up right here building and
riding Woburn Bike Park building bigger and gnarlier jumps to progress my riding career
but the last few months have been spent building beginner tracks for beginner riders. The problem
is we haven't actually invited any beginners to test them. So let's find out what an amateur
mountain bike rider rates this bike park out of 10 and what better person than my stepdaughter
Tallulah. I'm Tallulah and I've never ridden a bike park before. So if we have a look at the
trail map we've got a green run, two blue runs, the loam tracks up the top and a technique area
which should all be perfect for beginners. So let's start off with Tallulah on the green run.
Right just follow me, I'll take it steady, keep your feet level and just go really easy on the
brakes. That's perfect, look out the corner, look where you're going, that's it,
and get some speed to roll over this. That's it, look at the end of the berm,
look at the end, look at the end. I'm gonna crash! Yeah,
all right you're on the home straight now, over the roller, easy on the brakes down here.
Catching me? Yeah I got some air!
Does it feel like a green run? Red, what's the highest?
Let's do it again. Look at the end of these berms while you're going round them.
Uh-huh, turn. Oh! Yes!
Do you like it? Yeah it was really good. Do you find it hard? No because I'm a pro. Yeah right,
Tallulah literally doesn't have a bike, she's good on a horse but that's her first time ever
riding a bike park on a bike so well done. I'm gonna do some technique area now. Right Tallulah
this is the technique area, it's got one big roll in for everyone. You've seen Cove ride these ones
they're all rollable into a berm so we can do them, then all this stuff's new and actually we
haven't ridden this since the winter when it was frozen. Everything's rollable, this is aimed at
absolute beginners, I don't think you'll find it easy but I think it's like a really good way of
you getting a feel for jumps on a bike. Can we hear the cherry from there? Fanboys and girls,
don't freak out down here, just point straight. That is a very big hill. It's actually not,
Cove does it, he did it when he was one actually. Ready? Follow me.
Go on, let's see it.
Fair play. That was good.
So they're essentially the same because you can roll over everything,
just keep your feet level so your pedals don't clip. It's quite big. No it's the same,
so just control your speed. What's at the end of it? It just goes down like some humps,
it's like a road. You ready? Yeah. Right, follow me, yeah? You got this, just let the bike roll.
These are quite big. You got it. They're a lot bigger than the other ones, Matt. That's the
whole point, progression. Now you'll learn them and you'll feel good. Definitely harder than I
thought. You got it? They are quite big. The bike will do all the work, just point it at the end.
I'm going to wait on the last one to pull you up if you need it and then we'll roll down the other
side. Ready? Get it. Oh god. Keep going, keep going. Yeah. Right, now down here, we've done it.
Get it. Where are we going? Yeah, just down here. What do you think? It's quite cool, isn't it?
Yeah. Do you think you could get up there if you really had to or not? Like if I asked you to try
and go up there now, would you do it? Run? Ride. Not run, ride. From the top where we just came
down. Because the line is those two rollers and then I think a lot of people will get enough
speed to go up there. I've just started putting a berm in for people that can't. So realistically,
would you take that route? You would actually? Yeah. Fair play. Good riding, by the way. So sick.
That was actually so cool and helpful for me to see a beginner ride some of these tracks,
like we haven't had that in the whole six months of building this place. So Tallulah,
rate this bike park out of 10. I rate it an 8. An 8? Yeah. Why? Because I thought it was really fun.
Initially, you thought you wouldn't be able to do anything, did you? Yeah. Sick. 8 out of 10. Right,
on to the next one. So next up is the intermediate category, which is probably the sort of ability
level we're going to get the most here at the bike park. And I'm buzzing that Cara Beale has
come up to Woburn today to test the bike park out and ultimately rank it as an intermediate rider.
Hi, I'm Cara. I've been riding for about six years now. I'm sponsored by Haibike and this is my first
time at Woburn since it's been rebuilt. So let's try some of the tracks. Obviously, we can assume
that Cara can do the green run really well, but it's going to be cool to see someone with her
ability for the first time ride the blue runs. Let's drop in. Right, let's start on transfer line.
Let's have a look. Everything's rollable on this. Okay. It's so slippery. So dry at the minute.
My back end was like sliding the whole way. That's it though. It's weird going under the
boner log, isn't it? Yeah. It feels close, but I promise you it's not. Right, let's do it again.
Yeah, Cara. You've got that dialed now. Nice, that's sick. Now I've got it. Such a fun line.
Do you think it's like got that built-in progression that first run down you roll the
tables, but you know that they're in reach? Yeah, a hundred percent. Like I think you can roll it
for sure. So it's super progressive. And then each time you go down it, you just let the brakes off
even more to the point where you're clearing them like I did. That's it. Right, next one now.
We get to use the roll in now. This one's a blue again, but it's called Flowburn. Obviously, it's
ridiculously flowy. Do you want to follow me? Yeah, let's do it. I shouldn't have to do anything. Okay.
Really selfish of you, I wanted to clear the table. One of the bits is insanely soft. Yeah,
that's where I lost all the speed because I saw you slide and then I sort of freaked out and
braked. I'll do another lap and we'll... I'll start following you so I can watch you. Yeah. Into the
rain. Yeah. Did you get it? Yeah. Fair play. That was awesome. It is flowy, isn't it? It feels like
a roller coaster. Literally, like you just go and it's so chill. It's so fun. Is that easier than
transfer line? Yeah, I would say so purely because the track's so much wider. Oh yeah. And it just
feels like you've got so much space. No trees. Yeah, no trees. Two down. But if you look at the
trail map, there's also two red lines and loads of black lines, which is going to really push things
and progress things. But first I think we should go down to the dirt jumps. Yeah, let's have a look.
Mix things up. So we've got the tabletop line here, which has just been built. That's perfect
for beginners. Rollable, but you'll jump those and then hopefully you'll be able to move into
the gap jumps because this is like the on ramp for going that way into the main line and the top line
is the most technical with hips. So let's see how we get on. Every time I'm pushing up, I'm looking
at them thinking, yeah, I really want to ride them. It looks so good. So fingers crossed. Let's hope
we get there. Have it. Okie dokie then. Jumping.
They're the best. Like these are actually so good because the lips and the landings
are slightly steeper. So it's perfect for practicing for this line. It gives you that
sensation of dipping the nose. Go on, do it again. That was good.
Smooth. Such a fun line. Sick. And like I say, they're just cool to be slightly steep to steep
because yeah, it's like that feeling of like pull up, drop in. Mara's just explained that because
they're all quite close together, you get that trails-y feeling. Whereas a lot of bike parks
on their tabletop line, they spread everything out loads. So it's kind of interesting here.
And I say that it feels like that trail sensation, which is what we have here. So I'm glad
that kind of carries over. Yeah, just, yeah. Self pat on the back.
That's my favorite one. Well, that jump's your favorite? Yeah. Out of the whole bike park or ever?
Probably out of the whole bike park. Bit of a shame, but I'm glad. I'm stoked you enjoy it.
I mean ever. This setup jump is so easy, but really important just to land half decent. If
you can do those tables, you will absolutely do these first two jumps. Yeah. That first take off
quite flat. So you don't expect like big airtime and then the rest is history. But I think just
take them off one by one. Yeah. Sick. Big line. I reckon a touch higher on this berm and then
you almost pump and you'll be alright. I didn't put that pedaling because I knew I wasn't going
to stop. You barely did. Yeah, I know. Okay. This guy. Yeah. That was decent. That's one out the
way. You like the look of the next one? Yeah, you do. I'd rather jump it than do that again,
to be honest. Sick. I almost can't stop. You tag this one a little bit, I think. Okay. As
soon as you get this smooth, pump there and you're through that one. Whoa.
Oh, done it again. Full power. Yes. That was the one. Definitely. That felt quite good that time.
Don't think, don't think. Go, go. One, two, three.
Yes. Yes, Cara. I don't know where I was going there. It's always
nowhere near as bad as I make it out in my head. Yes. You're on now.
Oh my God. Well done. Good perseverance. Thank you. That's a good progression. Literally about
to bucket down. Someone's just turned the lights off. Let's try and ride some red runs. Let's do
it. Well done. Back on the rolling as the rain comes. So this is the new red. It's not finished
yet. Currently called the Duke of Shredford, but I'm keen to know what you think. Everything's
pretty much rollable. Do you want to follow me? Yes, I'll follow you. Get it. Get it. Yeah,
Cara. Fair play. It's soft, isn't it? I like that. It's definitely got potential for sure.
That's what, yeah, that's where we're up to with it. It's obviously going to change a little bit.
Would you say it's red? Yeah, I would say so actually. Yeah. But then you can, yeah,
you can roll everything. And it goes way further. We're not even halfway, but it was beach sand
until 20 minutes ago and it's still beach sand underneath. There's another red called Stroganoff
that you'll love. Should we do that one? Yeah, let's head there. This is the qualifying feature,
the canyon gap, and then we're into it. I saw the lip and freaked out.
Got it. I've not seen anyone do that. I didn't actually know you could stop on this. No,
I didn't think I could. Valiant effort. I've got on it now. Yeah. I'm going to follow you.
Yeah. I'm going to shout stuff. Okay. Just little pointers and you'll get to the end.
Okay. All right. Yeah. Get it. Let's go. All right. Flat out.
All right, boys.
Right. Over the hip and keep left. Nice. Onto it and turn left on it. Off.
Keep going over this one. Stay left. Keep going right and now just roll everything to the end.
Monster truck off this. Yes, Cara. I was screaming the whole way. I mean, you did it top to bottom.
Yeah, yeah. Work to be done and that's the whole point, isn't it? Oh, 100%. Yeah,
there's always work to be done. Red or black? No, it's a red. It is a red. Yes,
that was an intermediate's first deep dive into Woburn bike park. Yeah. Well done. Thank you.
Favourite thing about the park? It's got to be the dirt jumps. I think that hip was so good.
Yeah. Least favourite thing? That sort of like technical where you have to carry speed
through the line and sort of know where you're going. I found that a little bit difficult,
but it's still good fun. No pressure, but rate the bike park out of 10. I'd give it a solid,
I'd actually say a solid nine. Nine? Yeah. I've had the best day and I've managed to push myself
as well. Sick. Thank you so much. Thanks for having me. Right, next up, pro rider. Now for
the category I'm most excited about, the pro rider we've got to come and review this bike park is
none other than Sam Pilgrim. Hey guys, I'm Sam Pilgrim and I've been riding longer than you've
been born and I'm so pumped to come and test the new tracks. First fresh lap then. We'll start off
with what Cara finished on, which is Stroganov. Oh no, wrong way. Oh. Whoa, gaps.
There we go. Stroganov. That's a red. That was cool. Into like a black option at the end.
That as well. No, the little like cut off at the end there. Well, good mate. Well, let's do some
black runs now. All right. We're going to do Watch Your Back now, which is a black run. It's got this
brand new boulder log on it. What do you reckon? Nah, it's too big mate. I'm not doing that. It's
perfect. I'm going home. Nah, this is sick. Let's go and give it a go then, shall we? Come on, quick.
Dropping. Oh, these are cool berms. Whoa. Oh, that's sick.
Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh, you're smashing that berm. That was really good. Yeah, really fun.
That's cool. You just let yourself go and it was perfect. Once you're on that straight line
features, it's just one after another. I don't think the pads even touched the disc on my brake
and into that, but it was like perfect. It was really good. Let's do it again. Look at these
berms. Oh, this is a dream. Wow. We are so close. Yes. Oh yes. I got mud in my mouth. I popped
out flipping, but you could three it. Three would work. Bars and stuff you could do, couldn't you?
On a good day though. Yeah. Not today. All right, another black run. Yeah. All right. Let's do
free ride line on the other side. It's the sickest line. All right, let's go then. This is free ride.
It's been revamped, made bigger, wider, thicker, and it's got a new start, which is a work in
progress that the boys are putting in. Let's destroy some of their hard work then, shall we?
Classic. Oh, this looks good. Fairly close.
Yeah, that's next level, man. That's really good. That's a sick track, isn't it? That's the best,
man. Wow. Yeah, that's really good. You could flip one of them, a big one. Yeah, I think that
one would be well flippable, yeah. Because he's a professional and you can't rank a bike park
without tricking a bike park. True. Go. Go. Oh, the ease.
That's why he was world champion 20 years ago. This is the hell fair line. It will be the hell
fair line. It needs a lot of work since the ground's getting faster, but I'm weirdly excited
about this one. Yeah, it's got to be tested, hasn't it? There's a big hip at the bottom that
you can't really get into, but it will be the best hip you've ever ridden, I reckon. Okay,
well I'll just follow you then. Yeah, go steady at the start. All right.
Oh, yeah. That's cool, though. Yeah, it's probably the best eight seconds of your life,
but somehow here we need to slow the riders down, so I'm either going to build a 360 berm
or divert it up the hill to kill your speed. I wanted to get this done before Sam came.
There's quite a lot of work, but he's been being lazy. Yeah, that's too lazy. Yeah,
if you put that 360, if you just did one little change, but that's what we're here for, testing.
We're going to go and ride the dirt jumps now, which is the bit I'm the most stoked about. Me
and Sam grew up riding dirt jump bikes, so that's going to be an absolute highlight,
but I'm curious to know what your rough ranking is so far at the downhill tracks. Yeah, it was
amazing. I'll give it a two out of 10 now, though, because the hell fair line just ruined it for me
because it wasn't finished. No, it's the best. Actually, really fun. You guys are going to
ride the dirt jumps. We can do better than two out of 10. Come on, let's go. Right, main line.
I'm going to go left at the end. You could go right because left's quite soft. All right.
Yep. Into the dirt jumps. What have we got here then? Wow. Sick. Little racer here.
My brain did a weird brain thing and I whipped that without, I wanted to tuck it,
so I tail whipped that, but like that, and somehow survived it.
And there's a spine. We'll ride the spine. What about into that edge? Yeah, let's head onto the
wall. Oh, that's cool. I narrowly escaped with my life. My nose tagged the back bit. Let's go again.
Yeah, that's so cool, actually. When that's just a bit stiffer, that's going to be sick in trains,
isn't it? Yeah. I mean, there were trains with rain yesterday, so it's pretty sick
we're even riding. Yeah, right. That's actually awesome. Do you want to ride the top line with
all the hips or do you want to try the spine? Let's try the top one, yeah. Here we go then.
These are the bigger jumps here. Blasting. Bit of boom edge on that hip. Racer.
Wow. So good. Then you're into this, which is in a bit of work in progress, isn't it?
Yeah, we have jumped it, but it's so soft under this carpet from the rain.
It's like the gap was made perfectly to land on that corner, but realistically,
you want to be able to transfer as far as possible, so just bring that in 10 foot and then...
Yeah, that's well nice, that line. That was by far the most impressive riding
we've seen at Woburn since any of the rebuilding, and that's Santa Sam, so...
Cool. Cheers, mate. Thanks. Thanks for the invite. The important thing,
how would you rate this bike park out of 10? Right, so it's amazing. Not quite finished yet.
Without that snack shop, I'd probably give it, what, like a six?
A six. There's no snack shop? There will be. There'll be like sausage rolls and coffee and...
Well, now we're talking. Let's go... No, realistically, let's go eight, you know?
There's always that room for improvement, but it's amazing. You can come here,
send bangers, have the most fun. Yeah, I love it. I'd say eight, yeah.
Thank you. As a professional, you wouldn't go to a bike park and there'd be a line that you
could never do. Where you have to do everything. Exactly. That's our mindset. And that's what
you've done. Do you think this is a bike park you could keep coming back to and actually improve
and use to train? Hundred... I'm sort of past training now, because that's like... Yeah.
It's definitely a place to keep sharpened, keep your tools sharpened. There we go.
Cheers, mate. Cheers, Bosh. I'm buzzing with the results. We had an eight,
an eight, and a nine out of 10, so the average is an 8.333 reoccurring out of 10. We know what
we need to work on now. We know the improvements. We're already doing some of those improvements,
so keep an eye out for an announcement of when you can come and ride this epic new bike park.
Legends.
