What's going on YouTube and welcome back to our channel here at Vagabond Builds and today we're
bringing you a comparison video walk around review between the 2024 Acura MDX in the A-spec
tech trim compared to the 2024 Acura MDX in just the tech trim itself. This one being the higher
trim and we're going to be talking about exterior interiors and specs about both cars but before we
do because it is not a sponsored video and we truly need and appreciate your guys support
please tap that like button and subscribe to our channel we truly truly appreciate you guys.
Also a thanks and a shout out to Nilo Acura for providing both of these cars for this review here
at the Roseville Auto Mall in Roseville California. Guys if you have something for us to film here's
our email below email us and we can talk details later. Also keep watching stay tuned because we're
going to be dropping the MSRP sticker to the A-spec trim because we could not get the MSRP
sticker to the tech trim but again this is a $56,000 MSRP price just for the ones who'd like
to know right off the bat. Okay guys now let's go ahead and talk Acura MDX. So let's kick this
comparison off with talking about what's under these hoods. Now we only popped one hood because
it's the same exact drive terrain between the A-spec tech and just the tech. You get the 3.5
liter VTEC naturally aspirated V6 engine that gives you 290 horsepower with 267 pounds feet
of torque paired together with a 10 speed automatic transmission. Now let's talk a little
bit about the MPG. MPG is 19 city 25 highway with the 21 combined 18.5 gallon gas tank size.
Both come in the all-wheel drive. If we come over to the side of the car itself
both have the same length width and height starting with length 198 inches with 79 inches
and height 67 inches with a max towing capacity when properly equipped of 5,000 pounds everybody.
Now again drive terrains are the same but let's go ahead and close this hood and talk front end
and what we see different from the tech to the A-spec. I got to mention at the beginning of the
video is that the A-spec does come with add-ons that you will not see on different A-spec trims
and what do we see on that. This bottom lip is an add-on kind of a sportier lip here at the bottom
okay. Now that's going to be something along with the side running boards that you're going to be
seeing different and we're going to show you guys that in a second. But difference let's talk
differences. Differences black trim around the grill itself okay to where the tech just comes
with the chrome and a black gloss grill to whereas the A-spec has kind of a matte gray grill okay.
Bumper sensors going across both they do not have camera systems. The A-spec does come with the LED
fog lights that is something that is very nice with the black gloss trim here as well. Headlights
you get the dual eye LED headlights we left the hazards on and parking markers those are literally
the same. Coming over black gloss grill with the chrome trim going across all right drop here
chrome with no fog light all right and then you don't have that extra add-ons sportier lip down
there. Moving over to the side let's talk some wheels okay. On the A-spec you get the bridge
Bridgestones and what type they're running the Alenzas sport all seasons 255 50 20 with a black
gloss and the suspension is the strut shock suspension. Coming over to the Bridgestones and
these are also the Bridgestone Alenzas sport all seasons 255 50 20 so literally the same size
just different look on the rim it's the gunmetal gray with that machined surface silver just keep
an eye out for that between different trims like the type S to the A-spec over to the tech trim you
will have different colors and different rims and things of that sort. Wheel well trims matte black
plastic chrome trim here on the side mirror side mirror area to side mirror area to the piano black
trim A-spec emblem there letting you know that that's the A-spec trim. Both side mirrors come
automatic foldable with the blinker lighting system integrated in that and you get the blind
spot assist. Moving forward around the windows you got chrome on the tech and then piano black
on the A-spec. Roof rails no roof rails on the tech but you have roof rails here on the A-spec
okay in that piano black trim look these are add-ons all right pay attention to those two are
here no roof rails. Both with the keyless swab entry dropping down let me go ahead and open
these doors so you guys get an idea of what the trim work looks like one chrome and one being the
piano black finishing off that rocker panel area with that matte black this running board is
a add-on keep that in mind. Moving over to the back or the rears of the car the taillights come
in the led lighting we left the hazards on so you guys get an idea of that but we pretty much
literally get the same thing other than those add-on little sport trim pieces the piano black
trim with the A-spec emblem exhaust tips are same and then the diffuser areas are the same as well
okay up top get the integrated brake lighting system with that spoiler along with on the
A-spec itself. Let's go ahead and pop open these tailgates now with the third row lifted you get
about 18 cubic feet of space here in the back if we're to go ahead and drop the third row and the
second row let me show you guys a little bit of that you get a full whopping 95 cubic feet of
space we go ahead and lift this you get some more personal area and let's go ahead and see on this
tech package if you get a spare tire and no spare tire on the tech package but what's funny is you
do get a spare tire on the A-spec now let's go ahead and show you guys that as well if we drop
down spare tire on the A-spec now if you guys go ahead and check out our other video between the
A-spec in the type S comparison you'll see that the type S doesn't have a spare tire as well
wondering why Acura does that another difference between the A-spec and the tech trim is that you
get an illuminated cargo plate here in the back to whereas the tech does not come with that okay
12 volt outlet all right and some tie downs these seats do go down as well just like that okay
and pretty much similar on some extra cargo area just like that okay now let's go ahead and shut
that here you get the 12 volt outlet as well not to forget to mention that now we're pretty much
done with the exterior and cargo area let's go ahead and shut these tailgates and talk interior
so now on to the interior of just the 2024 Acura MDX tech trim okay so no A-spec just the tech trim
and what do we see right off the bat that is different this key itself does not have remote
start so the A-spec tech comes with remote start then coming over to the steering wheel the steering
wheel comes perforated on the A-spec it also comes with the A-spec sport flat bottom steering
that says A-spec right here and I'm going to show you guys that later on in the video and then
heated steering wheel no heated steering wheel okay come over to the center console area and
right under your climate control buttons you do not get ventilated seats here and you're going
to see that button there on the A-spec as well then the trim itself okay so you're going to see
a different design here on the A-spec trim along with the leather interior okay now both seats come
12-way adjustable that is similar on the A-spec as well as the just tech but the different look
on the seats here you're going to get that suede insert with the black and the red stitching on
the A-spec as we see in different model of their cars that A-spec has that same look okay but
overall the MDX look is pretty much the same with regards to the center console the wireless
charging pads the control pad for that infotainment screen the toggle switch then if I
go ahead and press that button USB-C USB-A plug-in your controls for your heated seats as mentioned
and then controls for that rear climate control and then the others here in the front this is
how it's going to look if I go ahead and switch that now let's go ahead and show you guys real
quick the navigation and of course we're going to have to connect to navigation let's go ahead
and see if we can continue offline and there goes your navigation all right and you can go
ahead and slide this now some people hate this little touch sensitive pad I have a Lexus and
I kind of got used to it so for me it's kind of fun driver cockpit display button you can drive
different modes and you're going to get a different look on that driver cockpit display and
that infotainment screen will change just a little bit adding some design on that tech interface
controls to your lighting here on the left controls to your windshield wipers here on the left they do
come rain sensitive windshield wipers paddle shifters these are black to where the a-spec has
the silver paddle shifting and then you can control your info cards here with your adaptive
cruise control as we know that it's pretty standard on every car that you control that
cockpit cluster display from here all right on the left hand side of this electric steering column
parking sensor button traction control along with the censoring and the auto dimmable with your brake
button there controls to your windows your automatic foldable mirrors and up to three memory
seating sets on passenger and driver seat the ELS studio system that is something that is different
that I forgot to mention the ELS studio system in the tech comes 12 speakers to where the a-spec
ELS studio system comes 16 speakers so you get four extra speakers in the a-spec right above us
we have the panoramic glass with the electric sun visor that goes all the way back and a tilt slide
sunroof option as well so guys we're pretty much done with the front side let's go ahead and show
you guys second and third row seating then jump over to the a-spec all right continuing forward
with the second row seating and what do we see that is different no door sill plate coming in
to the second row seating and that is also with the first row I forgot to mention that
the a-spec does come with the illuminated door sill plates and the seating again same look coming
over from the front to the back but again the different seating in the tech compared to the
a-spec but overall everybody it is pretty much the same all right you the a-spec is pretty much more
of a sport trim that you're going to get on the exterior look but again you get your pockets right
in front of you in between those two front seats climate control and you cannot control this
climate if the front climate is not on 12-volt outlet with the usba plugins this here is a
different add-on for an inverter on the type s advanced trim package now i'm about six feet two
inches you are good on the leg room and the head clearance if we go ahead and prop this angle up
you can sit more upright and my hair would be touching if we drop this down for longer road
trips more comfort and also more clearance your lighting you're reading light right over your lap
and then your o-snap handle door panel area you get your second row sunshades that again you do
get as well on the a-spec the aluminum brushed uh trim inlays can with the speakers and some cup
holders down here in some personal cubby room you can remove this center seat just like that
and prop that out and create like an aisle way it does come car seat compatibility
and an armrest there for your cups and some chapstick change or whatnot okay pretty cool
now let's go ahead and jump over to the third row seat and how am i going to do that i'm going to
bunny hop this seat forward by this button here and also you can drop just that backrest from
this lever let's go ahead and bunny hop this seat forward all right and jump into the third row
and show you guys what the third row kind of looks like when i'm sitting back here third row
has no perforated leather look so they do simplify that third row it is a little bit
closed space so you could only fit two smaller people back here again my head is completely
touching the top along with the front seat all right no usba or c plugins just cup holders with
some tie downs and again you also do not have air vents back here but you do have two reading
lights now that we're done with the tech let's go ahead and jump into the a-spec tech trim
so now inside the higher trim the a-spec and right off the bat what is different guys
the els studio audio system you get four extra speakers inside the a-spec tech the seating
obviously comes perforated leather with the insert suede all right the trim remember that
this is just a brush aluminum on just the tech package this a-spec kind of has more of a design
in it the ventilated seats that i mentioned on those buttons right and left for both front seats
then the key itself does have an automatic engine start button and that's there so the
the key is going to look the key fob is going to look a little bit longer also the a-spec
illuminated door sill plates in the front and the back row seating on the 2024 accurate mdx
you get the 12 volt this is similar 12 volt on both i just don't want to forget to mention but
this is similar on both okay some more differences coming over to the steering wheel you get the
sports steering with the flat bottom a-spec stamped there on one of those spokes on the
and the heated steering wheel here on the a-spec no heads-up display on both but the type s advanced
trim package does come up with the heads-up display check out our other video right and
pretty much guys that is it other than the same look of the accurate mdx going across i'm not
going to be spending a lot of time in this but driver cockpit cluster display comes full digital
you get the piano black coming together with that red stitching and the leather that is phenomenal
i like that look a whole lot better uh but again it all comes down to preference all right wireless
charging pad usb-c usb-a plugins because a lot of people want to know the tech and then you got your
dual level or bi-level cubby room with usb-a and another 12-volt outlet so nobody's going to be
fighting for plugins okay now we're done here on the second row seating we're going to do a quick
recap and not jump over to the third row seating because it's literally the same let's do that
second row seating what is different that illuminated door sill plate as mentioned and
again the suede inserts that we get on the design of the a-spec trim but again literally everything
else is exactly the same from the a-spec tech over to just the tech the pockets the controls for your
center console back here with 12-volt outlet usb-a plugins the climate controls you can still
remove this middle seat you can prop up that armrest all right now literally the space test
is the same same panoramic glass your lighting and your o-snap handles okay that is something
different another thing remember you get the extra speakers that's different there i'm going to show
you guys that all right that is completely different to where the tech does not get that
little speaker okay but again let's go ahead and drop this seat down all right and check it check
the back out same exact just different color and different stitching but the space test and all that
is pretty much the same guys now we're pretty much done and now as mentioned and promised here's the
msrp sticker to the a-spec tech trim so you guys get an exact idea of what comes on this car
and the msrp price sorry we couldn't get the tech trim msrp that's because we just could not take
that thing off but again we appreciate you guys watching our channel here at vagabond build stay
tuned keep watching we have more cool things coming god bless you
