Dodgers vs. D-backs Game Highlights (6/2/26) | MLB Highlights

Back inside Chase Field just about ready for first pitch the Dodgers and the Diamondbacks in game two of this four game series we're talking about Michael Soroka off at the top of one year contract with the Diamondbacks it's looking like a bargain at this point those seven wins second only to Chris sale Tony Rockets a line drive into right all the way he's got extra bases to start this game leadoff double for Ohtani so Tony four out of five in these two games and it brings up Andy Alpages strikes Alpages on the elevated fastball uses old Braves teammate Freddie Freeman a surefire Hall of Famer drills a ball to deep right field has taken his old buddy D Freddy Freeman with a two run home run when the hitter thinks that you're one of the sweetest kids ever in the locker room you are not going to be intimidated in some ways to hook I needed to knock it down a little bit to even the scales Freddie says I like you sorry I'm not sorry Eric Lauer came to the Dodgers with an ERA close to seven had a couple of weeks off though and kind of a reset a nice change of scenery and looked really good against the Rockies last week when six innings gave up just one run it's it on him right here with that fastball and he'll retire Marty for the first out as Freddie Freeman helps him home one go on to the first up comes Corbin Carroll the double in yesterday's game gives him twenty nine extra base hits for the year top five in the National League power in all shapes and sizes five ten one sixty five but he can punch it does down to first right here two up and two down and a pair of soft ground outs two outs and up comes Moreno sends this one in the air to right field Tucker goes back plenty of room he's got it and a one two three first inning and eleven pitches for Eric Lauer Dalton said liken the hits because he's been getting some base hits lately but ready for some big hits loud hits each of his last ten have been singles Yankes this one to right field down the line wasn't loud but he's going to have a chance to throw down the brakes it's an eleven straight single but they'll take it and that's going to drop in chip shot of a base hit for Alex Freeland and they're at first and second for Ohtani doubled and scored in the first inning down the line if it's fair he's got another and it is rushing in to score Freeland said at home Ohtani and he's headed for third Marte strong late to run triple Shohei Ohtani and Shohei's book he's got two of the tough ones out of the way as far as the cycle two in the first two in the second Mookie Betts to lead off the third swing and a miss Mookie out on strikes one gone in the third for Kyle Tucker Clyde the left center field it's Walsh meant to get Tucker Muncy heads up there popped out his first time strike three called and Soroca's got his first point in a two eighty six seven homers and he handles left he's extremely well he's tied for first with Ozzie Albies with twenty nine hits against left handed pitching this year there's a swing and a fly ball out to fairly deep left field Ward is going back he is still going back he's looking up and it is up the top of the bullpen wall it's a home run for Carroll to the opposite field and that's going to make it four to one serious power so Soroca has been rolling this has been more what Mike Soroca has looked like since putting on a Diamondbacks uniform this year totally different guy than the one that debuted for the Braves and all stars a rookie where he was a sinker baller now true five six pitch mix and that was a specific goal of his he said part of the reason why is he feels like with the traject pitching machines now we have two pitches hitters going to come in knowing being a master against at least one of those two pitchers he said he wanted that comfort to be able to break something out that guys maybe weren't ready for strikes out Pajero says his fifth four different pitches the fastball the cutter the slur of the changeup he is throwing a wide variety biggest swing against Soroca today came from the guy that stands in here and Freddy Freeman a two run home run in the first jam shot down the line it is fair to out single for Freddy Freeman first base runner for the Dodgers since the second inning keeps going Mookie Betts comes up ready to lay I'm not going anywhere why are they throwing over here Freddy sneaky that way steal a base if you don't pay attention to him every now and again kicks away from Moreno and Freddy Freeman's at second some work to do here to get Mookie Betts out and Mookie hits a high fly ball shallow right Corbin Carroll coming in looking up into the ceiling he'll make the catch before and a half it's the Dodgers for Diamondbacks one hopefully this offense can respond they got one in the bottom of the third but like to get some more now get a little closer and there's a base hit into right field Rosa shortens the swing guides one through the vacated right side of the lead off man to support Tommy Troy flat out his first time and Tommy Troy bounces it into right center Burroughs with a good radial head for third the Kenny Cora Bobby Orr setting the stage for Cattell Marte with contact hitter good speed bad helmet first to a board of the fifth and here's Marte who's over to Marte with a sky high fly ball the center for Pajero Rosas at third and it's an RBI for Marte in a four to ballgame there's Corbin who homered off Lauer's last time up he poked it off the bullpen fence it in and left field I think we're going to get a balk yeah Max Muncy at third base was waving signaling to somebody to call timeout and when Lauer stepped off that was the third disengagement. Tommy Troy goes to second on a disengagement violation. Oh he rung him up in a beauty right there and he picks up his first strikeout tonight. Dave Roberts going to come out and get Eric Lauer with Gabriel Moreno coming up he'll get Blake Triton in there and he loses Moreno two out two on for Arnotto off the comes on run for his glove but makes a good catch and a good time to make it keeps it a four to game out of the top of the seventh we go into the Diamondbacks bullpen. Jonathan Lewis takes over rushing cranks a high liner to center field. Back goes Baroza over his head off the wall. Rushing into second with his first extra base hit since April 20th. Short quick and powerful. That's what you get right on a scouting report about Dalton rushing Freeland's up there squaring lays the ball down on the play for the wise guys at first. Nice one by Freeland. He's a third as Ohtani comes up in the infield. God bless him. Coming in. We're going to put Ohtani on so they don't have to fear for their lives. First one from the wise a guy hits a high fly ball to left infield sends Walsh Smith towards the corner onto the track. He's got room plenty deep enough to score Dalton rushing and it's five to two Freddy chance for Freddy Freeman swinging a ground ball toward the middle diving right through the wickets of Marte rounding second on his way to third is Ohtani and Freddy Freeman has come up with his third hit of the ball game. Freddy trying to make the intentional walk to show he heard final responsibility will come up to Mookie Betts. He swings rips it to left field that's a base hit Ohtani will come in and score it is six to two Mookie Betts with a two out run scoring single. This is a Dodger ballclub right now and right in this inning that looks like a very well oiled machine. There's Kyle Hurt right hander on to pitch for the Dodgers his 19th appearance this year. He has an E.R.A. of one and Marte will take his base start somewhere swung on and Carroll just missed it. Sky fly to center Pajas walking in will make the catch and there's one gone Gabby Zofer to walk his last time up Hurt doing what he can. He's walked to in the inning and a chance for Arenado now and aligns it to left get heads off the wall. Marte held up for a moment you know J.R. House waving him home this ball down in the left field corner just not enough elevation to get over the fence but Arenado comes through again. Hurt comes back to strike him out two away. Here's Vargas now and that ball for Hurt has walked three in the inning. Dave Roberts out to the mound. Here he is Geraldo Perdomo on a scheduled off day will back for Fernandez against the new pitcher for the Dodgers the right hander will fly. Jerry squirts it through J.R. House stops Arenado as Ward gets on it and they're loaded down for Rosa's spot. We're going to get another pitch hitter Haven Smith coming off the bench. He walked in a run rushing wants it's a challenge and this is a ball Arenado's home and it's six to five. And now the runs are in scoring position. Troy the ninth man to bat in the seventh broken bat on the right side. Freeman does second to Betts Dandy and the Dodgers stay in front. So to the ninth we go Tanner Scott on to face five six and seven and a six five ballgame. This time he does finish him off one gone in the night. Vargas shoots a base hit to right. Now 17 base runners in this game for the D-Box Perdomo squares and bumps it back to Scott fires it down to first in time. Interesting from Perdomo there moves the time run into scoring position but basically gives up an out and a bouncing ball a second for Freeland. That's going to do it. The Dodgers escape with a six five win. We lose game one. They win this game game two and they still have a chance to win their sixth series in a row.
