Welcome to Korea.
So we are just walking through the Gwanjang Market.
This is where we're going to start this video.
In this video, what you're going to see, you're going to see a lot of delicious street food.
Here in Seoul, we're going to include all the prices as well.
So let's go and get some food.
We are very, very hungry.
I'm starving.
Let's go.
So we are literally just walking into, oh my God, look at these pastries.
I was going to say, I was going to say we are just walking into the, uh, into the market.
Would you like to try it?
I think I would like to try it.
Maybe one without the cream.
So this is our first full day in Korea.
We have arrived yesterday late in the afternoon.
We were very tired, so we didn't pick up the camera.
So this is going to be also our first impressions for you of the Korean food.
I can tell you one thing already.
We are absolutely loving it here.
I'd say the price of this is 3,900.
It's like a rolled doughy pastry bun.
It's slightly sticky as well, actually.
I don't know why it's sticky.
Have a look.
Shiny, sticky.
Oh, it smells so much of garlic.
Right.
Let's get a bit of this off and try it.
Look at that.
As soon as you rip that, you can smell all that garlic.
Look how much I'm going to stink.
Yeah, you will.
Oh.
Good?
Whoa.
That's quite sweet though.
For some reason, that's sweet.
Sweet garlic bread.
It's nice though.
I think this would be much better if this was hot.
That's still delicious though.
It's super sweet.
I'm surprised by that.
Yummy.
Next snack.
Oh, wow.
Look at the kimchi store.
This looks absolutely fantastic.
Oh, I love kimchi.
We had some last night, did we?
Yeah.
So good.
We have to try some more of this in this market.
Oh, I can already see so much food I want to eat.
Let's just get into it.
Straight away, we're right into the food.
Look at the lady here.
She is frying some mung bean or potato pancakes.
Yeah, I'm sure this is mung bean pancakes.
They look huge though.
They look massive, but smell amazing.
You want to eat it now?
Yeah.
The lady approached us first over there.
She had a big smile, so that's where we're going to go.
And get one of the mung beans.
It's mung bean pancake.
Yeah, pancake.
There's so much going on.
I can't stop looking everywhere, so I get distracted.
You want a small one?
This is a huge one.
No, but they have small ones over here.
Look.
Little ones.
Yeah, small ones.
Oh, yeah?
Yeah.
Right, so we are getting some of these delicious mung bean pancakes.
Thank you.
5,000 won.
All right, this is super crispy.
Let's see if it's going to be a little bit oily.
This reminds me a lot of potato pancakes, which they are very popular.
And one of my favorite Polish dishes, but they are very popular in Poland.
So this is going to be like comfort food for me.
Surprisingly, they are not very oily.
I really like this.
They're a little bit salty, not too salty.
Super nice, warm, comforting food.
You have to try this.
I'm eating too fast.
They are chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside.
This is heaven for me.
Oh, here are people sitting with their beer and having mung bean pancakes.
Hello.
Good?
Good.
We're having one already.
Enjoy.
People are so friendly in Korea.
Yesterday, I told you we had arrived very late.
We were very tired because we left really early in the morning.
Right?
We came here from China, from Chengdu.
So go and check out the videos if you're interested in that.
Oh, look, another one.
A dessert one.
A dessert.
These are filled with sweet stuff.
Oh, Nutella and chocolate.
So we have pancakes here, but they're filled with sweet stuff as well.
Wow.
And yeah, I got distracted again.
Sorry.
Talking about locals, they are so friendly and welcoming.
Yesterday, we were just having a beer just on the main street in a youth area, Myeongdong.
And we sat down with some locals, shared the beer, shared some food as well.
And you too.
Hello, nice to meet you.
See?
I told you how lovely people are.
So yeah, when we were leaving to pay the bill, I'm getting so distracted.
I have to finish the story.
When we went to leave, we went to pay.
And basically, the guys who run the restaurant, the place we were at,
they're now all covered, all paid.
It's so nice.
They paid for our food, for our beers.
£54.
Yeah.
I couldn't believe it.
So nice.
Oh look, tartare.
Beef tartare.
Oh yeah, I love that.
Oh baby, we should try it too.
This is a super busy place, isn't it?
So busy.
Oh, this is blood sausage.
Oh wow, look at that.
This is blood sausage.
Wow.
Again, we have blood sausage in Poland too, don't we?
Yeah, you do.
I'm not stroking on it.
We have dumpling.
Dumpling?
Okay.
And some meat as well.
It all looks very good.
We come back later.
Yeah, we need to walk around first.
Thank you.
Oh, look at that.
Danny, would you like to try blood sausage?
I'm not too sure.
Not too sure?
No.
This is such a cool place.
Look at these dumplings.
All the food looks so comforting in this market.
I was going to say, you basically probably have seen this market a lot online,
because it's made famous by Netflix mainly.
There's one lady who does basically fresh cut noodles.
But I don't know if we're going to have that a lot,
but this is why this market is really well known.
Wow.
These are stuffed with kimchi and pork.
You see the red ones?
Oh yeah, kimchi.
I think we should find a little spot where we can sit down,
where it's not too busy, and grab a load of snacks.
You see the ladies, they sit behind the stalls,
and basically you can just point to what you want,
pick what you want, sit down,
grab a little seat on one of these little, say, restaurants.
Let's go find some food.
I fancy maybe some dumplings, possibly.
I don't know what Diggy wants.
Do you know what I fancy?
What?
Everything.
That's normal for Diggy.
Everything.
Give me everything.
Hey, why are you calling me fatty?
So this is a really cool place.
It's really busy.
This one looks nice.
I have heard that it's best to come here in the late afternoon,
and it's less busy.
So this is the one.
This is the Netflix lady.
This is the famous lady in Korea.
Annyeonghaseyo.
Hello.
Yeah, this is fresh-rolled noodles.
Oh, fresh-rolled noodles?
Yes, this one's known for fresh-rolled noodles,
and also dumplings, kimchi-stuffed and pork-stuffed dumplings.
Do you fancy that?
Or are we going to have something else?
No, I want to go to one of the little stalls with kimchi
and all the rest of it, and tabakki.
Everyone is very nice here,
and they are happy to be filmed.
I always ask.
Yeah, lovely.
We are loving Korea already, food and people.
And this is what travel is all about, right?
Food and people.
Yeah.
Mainly food.
Let's find a seat down there.
I think we can get something hot.
I don't fancy something cold.
Yeah, no.
Or just let's get this one.
You want this one and this one?
Yeah, one.
Just this?
That's it?
You don't want this as well?
Can we have one?
This one?
One.
We just stopped here.
We just stopped here because the lady had the biggest,
biggest, cutest smile in the whole of the market.
So we're going to go and grab some food here.
Hello.
Is this tofu?
Can you speak English?
A little.
Is this tofu?
Oh, it's fish cake.
Fish cake.
Okay, so this is fish cake.
Everything looks super hot and delicious.
What is this dish called?
Excuse me, what is the name of this dish?
It's spicy...
What is the name?
It's tabakki.
Tabakki?
Yes, yes.
Tabakki.
Okay.
Tabakki.
I cannot use chopsticks in Korea.
They are so difficult for me.
Don't drop that on me.
Don't drop that on you?
This is so comforting.
It's spicy, sweet.
You can taste like a lot of paprika flavor there.
This is delicious.
This is very, very comforting food.
Everything we had so far is super comforting, right?
Yeah, especially in this cold weather.
It's really cold at the moment.
You can see it steaming there.
So it's perfect stuff when it's cold.
It's filling?
So these are like rice cakes, basically.
So they're quite dense as well, right?
Quite heavy.
But these are quite big.
I've seen these in Thailand and other countries.
They're a lot thinner.
These are quite big, these ones, aren't they?
And we have one more dish as well.
So we initially thought this was tofu.
This is actually fish cake.
It looks like tofu skin, though.
These chopsticks are so hard.
Ready?
This is very hot.
Good?
Yeah.
For me, I'm not normally a fan of really fishy stuff.
This is not really fishy.
Nice and clean.
And it has like little bits of seaweed in there.
It has like a proper sea flavor in there.
Like you're eating straight out of the sea.
This is yummy.
Yeah, really good.
So a new batch has just been made here.
I really like this stuff.
It's so good.
This lady is super, super cute.
What is this?
Fish cake.
Yeah, fish cake.
I keep forgetting words.
Honestly, I'm overwhelmed by what is happening
because everything looks so new to us
and there's so much delicious food.
I want to literally try everything.
I want more sauce.
So also, if you're coming from China,
in this store, you can pay by WeChat.
My Chinese name is Wu Guang Yang.
Wu Guang Yang.
Yes.
Okay.
And your nickname?
Do you have a nickname?
No.
You can call me Yang Yang.
Yang Yang.
So this is our lovely Chinese friend here
which we just met.
Hello.
Welcome to China.
Thank you.
Yeah, so this lovely guy is going to Busan as well
and this is going to be our next destination too.
So here's a very famous donut store.
You can see the queue.
Yeah, look at the queue.
And it goes all the way over there.
Look at the queue for that donut store.
But we definitely underestimated the weather here.
It is freezing.
We need to go shopping for some gloves,
hats, scarves, boots, shoes, socks.
Yeah, so this is definitely one of our travel mistakes.
Talking about mistakes,
one mistake we do not make is not travelling without an e-sim.
Navigating in a train station
or finding some delicious food in a city,
you do need an e-sim.
So let me quickly explain to you
what is UBG,
how it works,
and why we do not travel without it.
UBG is an application which allows you to get
e-sim data plans in over 200 destinations.
Like I said, we use UBG every time we travel
for simple reasons like easy to install,
internet is super fast and reliable,
there are no surprise roaming charges,
and you are not tied to a long-term contract.
And very important,
this is the only app that you can recharge
and top up your plan without any Wi-Fi connection.
Instant connection when you land in your country
without faffing with complicated installation.
And no stress,
you're going to run out of data mid-trip.
So it's so simple to install.
All you do when you land in your new country
is turn off your current sim,
switch on your e-sim data plan from UBG,
and you are connected directly.
So download the UBG app now
to get your first free e-sim,
and don't forget to use code DANNYANDDIGGY
at your first checkout
to get 10% off your first plan.
So you can find all these data plans
at UBG.com forward slash DANNYANDDIGGY
to enjoy fast and reliable internet
on your next trip.
You probably know how important to us
is to have a fast and reliable internet
when we travel,
so hope you can get your UBG e-sim
next time you travel abroad.
But now, let's get back to the video.
They're paying the Korean money really pretty.
Look at that.
Hello.
Can we have one donut?
Just one piece?
Yes.
Oh, yeah, okay.
Okay, thank you.
Is it okay?
Oh, yeah, it is okay.
So we're just walking around,
and...
What?
Hita.
Oh, Hita, outside Hita.
We're just walking around
and we stumbled across a donut shop.
It was very busy,
so we just quickly ran over the road
and we're picking up some donuts.
We need some warm food.
You will not believe how cold it is today.
I think it might snow.
It looks like it.
Far away, you can see in the sky,
it looks like snow.
Yeah, look at my nose.
Yeah, it's so cold.
Oh, yeah.
Thank you.
Would you like some sugar in your donut?
You want sugar?
Yes, please.
Yeah.
So donut is covered in vanilla bean sugar.
That's gonna be nice.
Yeah, can't wait.
This is still hot.
Oh, look.
It's the famous Twisky donut.
So this is what it looks like.
Is it tasty?
It's still warm, fresh.
So light.
Really, really light.
Oh, these.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah?
So one of them cost 1,200 Korean won.
Oh, won.
Sorry.
Won.
We just came from China.
Okay.
Oh, delicious.
So good, right?
Navigating in metro system in Seoul is definitely very confusing.
Something we're not used to, and we definitely wouldn't be able to find our way around without
UBG app.
Make sure when you come to Seoul or Busan, you have one of these.
These are a must-have.
This is a T-money transport card.
So basically, you can get these at 7-Eleven, and you can get them at the GS24, basically
shops, and they'll cost you 4,000 for each one.
You'll get that back when you finish with it.
But what these basically are, are top-up cards that you tap on and off for transport.
You can use it for buses, and you can use it for the metro, and it'll save you so much
time.
So now we brought you to Hongdae area, which is very popular with the younger crowd.
There is a lot of shopping here, bars, and even a club street from what I saw already.
So what we're going to do, we're going to walk through it, show you the area quickly,
and of course, we're going to have some delicious food.
And maybe a beer.
Maybe a beer.
One thing I have noticed that here, there's loads of chicken and beer shops.
My favorite thing.
Chicken and beer.
What more can you want?
Somebody to share it with.
So as you can see, it's pretty early.
So where we are?
Club Street.
Hongdae Club Street.
Hongdae Club Street is pretty dead.
We're way too early.
Finally got myself a hat.
Nice Christmasy red.
I was trying to find food here.
There is a lot of cafes here, but not so much as a beer and foodie street.
Like a street food.
But lots of nice shops, lots of nice cafes, and lots of sweet treats, right?
Yeah, yeah.
So if you want to come here for more restaurant-y food, or you want to come shopping in general,
then this is the place to come.
Yeah.
Loads of shopping.
Definitely.
Because it's Christmasy, you can sit outside.
Chicken and beer.
That looks really nice.
And they got blanket.
Do you want to sit down and have a beer?
Could do.
Let us see how much is the beer.
The beer we like is past six and a half.
I already pressed it.
Cozzo.
Yeah, they have Cozzo as well.
Right, skip that.
The minimum spend is 18,000.
We only wanted a beer.
What do you think of my hat?
I quite like the red color.
It's a little bit like Christmasy, yeah?
Ready for Christmas.
We're going somewhere very cold this Christmas.
I wonder if you can guess where we'll be going.
Drop it in the comments.
And hopefully it'll be nice and Christmassy there as well.
Yes.
And snow.
Watch out.
There's a really cool street over there, baby.
Where?
Wanna go?
So what do you think about Hongdae Street then?
Yeah, so for me, Hongdae Street is mainly a place if you want to come for like a restaurant
kind of scene, there's not much street food here.
But the area is really cool, I think.
Don't you think so?
Yeah.
There is a lot of little streets, sideways streets as well.
But it's more like a sit-down restaurant.
There is not much of the street food scene.
This is what we were hoping for.
But we haven't walked through everything yet.
So here you go.
A little bit of street food for you.
I don't know.
Nothing looks that appealing for me to try.
No.
Not here.
There's a lot of good food around in different places.
Yes.
But I don't think the main street food place is here in Hongdae.
No, I don't think so.
Don't come here for street food.
Come here to shop.
Restaurant.
Sit-down restaurant.
Get some chicken and beer.
And there's a big club scene as well, which is further down here.
If you come later in the evening.
Oh, let's sit here.
You want it?
How cute is this?
This is cool.
Is it open?
We found a cool little bar.
We're gonna get some beer, finally.
And it's nice and warm as well.
Check this place out.
How cute.
So this was a really cool place.
Basically called, hello, hello, Seoul.
Check this out when you're in Hongdae.
Really cozy little place.
Really cozy.
Look how warm I am now.
Rosy cheeks.
This is something for our friend Jake.
Bagel land.
Jake, this is your sign to come to Seoul.
He likes bagels?
Yes, he loves bagels.
Right, so we are still hungry.
We didn't get much food here in Hongdae.
So we're gonna take you now to the Maeundong Night Market.
Let's go.
Why we didn't look at this place before?
This looks cool.
Happy Christmas.
So, Hongdae didn't look that appealing to us.
We couldn't find any street food here.
So we brought you to Maeundong Night Market.
We checked it online.
It looks pretty good.
We just got here and it's super, super busy.
And lots of food.
We're ready for it, aren't we?
I'm ready for it.
I'm hungry.
I want some snacks.
It feels very Christmassy.
Seoul feels Christmassy.
Seoul feels Christmassy, doesn't it?
It does now, yeah.
Everything's coming to life.
They've got Christmas decorations everywhere.
Feels like Christmas.
Yeah, I love it.
Let's get some food.
Don't know what to do with that hair.
It annoys me.
I'm not used to having my hair down.
Fried coconut shrimp.
Is this hot?
Is this hot or cold?
Oh, over there.
Okay.
You want one?
You have to wait.
They look good.
But I think...
I don't want to wait.
I'm too hungry.
They look good though.
Oh, so sorry.
No, I don't want to wait.
I'm hungry.
I don't like waiting for food.
I see.
I want it now.
I'm not the most patient person, am I?
Chicken?
Okay.
This looks absolutely amazing.
You want one?
Hot barbecue chicken.
So we have teriyaki sauce.
And it's just salty as well.
You want one with salt?
I just want one with salt, please.
That looks good.
I think it's cooked already.
Thank you very much.
Danny, man.
Look at that.
It's a big steak.
That's what she said.
That's a huge steak.
Oh, my God.
Is it nice?
This one was 5,000 won for one huge steak.
Look at the size of it.
I'm in heaven.
What is it like?
Chicken on the skin?
Like thighs?
Chicken thighs?
Uh-huh.
Oh, it's light.
I want to get it all over me.
Chicken thigh covered in salt.
How good is that?
Tender.
Juicy.
Super soft.
Barbecue.
Really soft.
Amazing.
Super salty though.
Yeah.
Oh, that's nice, actually.
I think there is some places where they come and cut your steak after you eat it.
Have some more.
It's good.
Thanks, mate.
I think this area must be really good for shopping because there's a lot of big shops
and shopping centers here.
Here they have big department stores as well.
So you have a night market, but massive department stores.
More chicken.
Chicken!
Do you want to try these?
Gimbap.
Do you want to try gimbap?
Maybe you would like to try gimbap.
Right, we're going to get some gimbap.
Which is basically like a roast in seaweed with rice, right?
Yeah, in different fillings.
Do you know what that's like?
Okay.
You can choose which flavor.
I'm going to get spicy bulgogi.
You want one?
Uh-huh.
Crab, thick squid, ham, kimchi.
Got it?
Yeah.
Spam money.
I'm straight away going with Spam.
Spam.
We haven't tried Spam here yet.
This is actually really nice.
Super salty Spam.
So this was 6,000 for six rolls.
I can always find Diggy now.
She's got a bright red hat on.
Look at that.
Potatoes.
Sweet potatoes.
You want?
No, I'm okay.
This is like a corn dog.
Yeah, cheese corn dog.
Hello.
And this is fish cake also?
Fish cake one, 4,000.
Okay.
Can I please have one?
Okay.
Yeah.
Spicy?
Spicy.
Spicy, please.
How much, baby?
4,000, baby.
This looks very good.
I love this fish cake.
Handmade fish cake.
Handmade?
Yeah.
Oh, wow.
Amazing.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
So this is the store where we got it from.
And these guys, they make it handmade.
So you actually bought this fish cake?
Fish cake, yeah.
In a spicy sauce.
Spicy soup.
I think it's going to be very hot.
Good?
A lot of food.
Oh, yeah.
A little bit spicy.
Super soft inside.
Yeah, a little bit spicy.
Yummy.
Let's try the soup.
The soup is super sweet and spicy.
I really like this stuff.
This is amazing.
This one's tofu or it's fish as well?
Fish.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I prefer these ones.
So yummy.
A little bit sweet, a little bit spicy.
In a hot, spicy sauce.
I love this.
So you also get some clothing here as well.
Not just food.
But we have found, from what we saw already, a lot of food repeats itself.
Those coconut shrimp, they look good.
That looks cool.
A little side street.
Chicken pub.
Yeah, it's like Dickie just said.
Basically, if you come to any kind of touristy area and touristy market, you would expect
the kind of same thing over and over again.
But you cannot come to a country without actually coming and seeing it yourself.
We knew it was going to be a bit more like this.
But there's some good food as well.
But it's good.
I like it.
It just gives you a lot of options.
It's nothing negative.
But even if it was, then we are allowed to...
I don't know what I'm talking about.
I'm just looking at food.
Sorry, guys.
These videos are going to be so chaotic because I'm looking everywhere, trying to film.
Then I got distracted because I saw something cool.
Then I saw something to eat.
So then I lost track of what I was saying.
So apologies for that.
Yeah, then I trip over.
I'm tripping over so much these days that we are literally counting how many I do a day.
Today is three.
Three.
I'm not doing too bad today.
Check this out.
I literally just spotted Hello Kitty House or Cafe.
Cafe.
Hello Kitty Apple Cafe.
Do you want to go?
Yes, please.
But I think this is a really good mix.
You have a lot of shopping and a lot of street food as well.
Food is very good here.
And there's so much to look at.
All the buildings look beautiful.
You've got a lot of Christmas decorations already.
I'm loving it.
It's really dangerous.
It's okay.
Look at that cool building.
Life work coffee.
What do you think of the street food in Korea so far?
Because this is our first full day of eating.
Yeah, I know.
It's quite cool, the street food here.
In this area, it's a bit more touristy.
I'd like to get into some of the kind of more other markets, more less touristy markets.
Yeah, that would be nice.
But no, the food so far, really good.
We have all of it.
I really like the first market we showed you in this video.
That was my favorite.
No, mine too, actually.
That's the best one.
Yeah, that was my favorite.
And we met our new Chinese friend there as well.
He was so nice.
Helped us a lot as well.
So thank you very much.
So I think we covered everything.
We showed you all the street food around here.
Thumbs up if you liked the video.
Don't forget that.
And we're going to see you in the next one.
See you in the next one, guys.
Bye.
