Jennifer Davenport demonstrates how to create a high-quality, custom faux floral arrangement using a curated kit. She guides viewers through selecting materials, preparing the base, and layering various stems to achieve a professional, balanced look that elevates home decor.
Hey friends, welcome back to the channel. My name is Jennifer Davenport and today
we're going to make a custom floral arrangement that will be perfect
for your home this summer. I will have a link in the description to my online
shop where you can purchase every item I use in this floral
arrangement so you can create it for your home too.
Let's get started. Today's video is going to be a fun one.
So I own a store in Murfreesboro, Tennessee called JD's All About Home
where I sell furniture, decor, lighting, and everything you need to make your
house a home. And one of my favorite things I carry at
JD's are faux florals. I am very picky about the flowers I sell
and it's important to me that they look real and are very high quality
because gorgeous faux flowers can elevate a space
beautifully. I have all these items in my online shop
available for you to purchase so you can follow along
with this video and arrange the floral with me.
So for the tools that you'll need, all you're going to need is a hot glue gun
and whatever clippers you want to use. These are my favorite because some
florals, if you do a lot of them, they're hard to clip and this is
super easy to use. I will put a link in the description of my video.
The container I chose for this floral is this beautiful
antique gold compote. It's lightweight, timeless, and it goes with
any style. The first flower is this beautiful
real touch hydrangea. What girl doesn't love hydrangea? And what makes them so
great in arrangement is they take up a lot of space. For the second floral, I
chose this is a cherry blossom. What's so cool about this one is every
little branch moves. That makes it easy to arrange. Now we need a little deep
color so we have this purple budded stem. And then lastly, I wanted to add a
bit more green into this floral. Another stem that moves every branch is
wired and this is a beautiful green berry. Very lovely. Okay, let's get
started on this. The first thing you're going to need to do
is you're going to need to put this green foam into your compote. Now this is
included in the package so you don't have to go to the store for that.
Now you need to figure out how, because it's a little bigger than your compote,
so we're going to have to cut it down. Take it and kind of push it onto your
compote a little. And see those little marks that you've
made? That's what we're going to cut off of the green foam. So grab a kitchen
knife and cut it off. It makes the worst sound.
Both sides. Now listen, this doesn't have to be perfect because
we're going to push it down into the compote.
There we go. Now it's in there. But I'm going to take it another step
farther and I'm going to add hot glue on all
four corners and then place it back in. This just gives it a little added
security. So let's add a little glue on each corner.
You don't have to do a lot. Oops, let's push that back in.
There we go. All right. And now push it in your compote
and let it just sit for a minute. When making a flower arrangement, you start
with the largest flower first. And so we're
going to start with the hydrangeas. And you have
five to work with. So your placement is going to be
one in the middle and then four is where the others go right across from
each other. Super easy. Now I'm going to cut off some of the
leaves on these hydrangeas. You don't have to
cut off every one of them, but I'm going to cut off one and then
take your hydrangea and kind of hold it to the compote like this to see how tall
we want it and cut a little bit more than that because you're going to stick
it down into the foam. Now stick it in about this far and
remember this very first one is going to determine the height
of your floral and this is actually going to be
perfect. Now you don't have to do this, but I like to always add a little extra
sturdiness to my florals. So I'll put a little bit of hot glue gun around that
and that way, I mean I have grandkids, if this floral gets knocked over
it's going to look great. Now we're ready to do your
other hydrangeas. So we're going to do one, two
and one, two. Super easy. However, because this one is your tallest
hydrangea, I want to put these in just a little bit
shorter. This is my height and perfect. I love that. So all the
next three hydrangeas, you want them to be that same height.
I tell you, I think if I could arrange flowers all day long,
I would. It makes me so happy and there's nothing like a beautiful
floral in your home. Let me turn this around. I'm going to
show you how I'm putting that last one in.
Perfect. So before you move on to that next step, I want you to take a look at
everything. Make sure this one's a little taller.
This one's kind of sticking out a little bit more. I might push it in a little bit
but kind of twist your floral around and just make sure
all four of these are the same height and you're ready to go on to the next
part, which is the purple budded berries. I love
the colors of these. Now you have two of them
in your kit, but what we're going to do is we're going to snip them and use them
all around the floral. But let me show you first what I want you to do.
There are three stems. Pull them apart a little bit
and I want you to clip off these on the outside, like that.
Set those aside. We're going to, I'll show you what to do with those later.
All right, this is obviously too tall. I'm going to clip it
shorter and I'm just going to stick it in right here. For reference, you're going
to have these hydrangeas that form a triangle.
You're going to put this berry in right in between them
and let it stick out just a little bit. Now do the same thing again with your
second berry. Cut out those ones on the outside.
I'm going to cut a leaf off and trim it just a little bit.
Place this one on the direct opposite side
of your floral, again in between the triangle
of the white hydrangeas. There you go. Okay, that's all you're going to do with
that berry for right now. The next one we're going to
use are these. I love these. Again, they move so easy to work with.
So let's trim it. This one has a thick stem, so you're
going to need some good clippers for that one.
Now turn your floral to where your other hydrangeas are.
Make a triangle. See how they make a triangle? This is where you're going to
stick the green berry into the foam.
Now because all three of these are wired,
you're going to pull them just around the hydrangeas.
And if they're too tall because they're wired, push them in a little bit. You
don't have to pull that back out and snip it.
And that's where I'm going to leave it for right now, and I'm going to look at
it when I'm all done with the floral and make adjustments then.
So take your second green berry one and trim it again.
And I'm not trimming any leaves off of this one because I really like them and
they're not too big. Turn your floral around to where those
last three hydrangeas are and stick this into the foam
and kind of move your berries around like you did the other one.
And we're just going to spread them around a little bit and then I might
play with them a little bit. Now don't worry about the berries right now and
how they look. We have them in the right placement.
We're going to move on to the next stem. This is one of my favorite stems that we
got in the store this year. It has a delightful way that it moves in
the color of the green. It's just a soft lime green. Now another
thing that makes this floral amazing is every single branch is wired and it
moves. But we only need one branch for this
floral because we're going to cut it into a few pieces.
So start with this lower one down here and I just want you to cut it off of
that main branch.
And we're going to stick it in between the hydrangeas.
You know when you make a floral and they talk about
to make a good floral look good you have your thriller,
your spiller, and your filler. And it's kind of the same concept with this one.
This one is going to be more of my spiller. It's got the movement. It's going
to come off of the container. What makes a really pretty floral is a
lot of times they're arranged and nobody lets anything spill
over the container. That's what takes the floral to the next
level. All right we're going to trim a few more off
and disperse them into the floral. Snip these and just place them in
different spots. Remember we're going to arrange it in a minute
but I want to have this stem represented all the way around this
arrangement. What I love about this floral
is its simplicity and with the stems that I've chosen
you can twist and pull them and put them in the right spots
till you feel like you've got the balance right. All right now we're going
to play around with the berries and some of this
beautiful cherry blossom and place it more
into the floral. So see right here got a little bit of a hole. That's okay
we're going to pull the green little berry around and push it
into that and move this cherry blossom. I want that
to kind of come off of that compote. Look how
lovely that is. Keep turning your floral and taking a look.
Okay we've got too much berry right here. No problem.
We're going to twist it up a little bit up here
and don't be afraid to push and pull on your florals.
I mean you don't want to pull stuff off but when you're pushing and pulling it
around don't worry about that. It's very
resilient. Last thing we're going to do is we're
going to add some more purple into this floral.
Now a lot of people when they're doing florals they don't think about
wait I could trim that stem and then add it in later with hot glue. Number one
it saves you money on florals but number two it disperses that color evenly.
So when you're looking at your floral and I'm looking right here and I'd love
to have some purple right there. You're going to add let me bring my
plate over here. You're going to add some hot glue
and be careful. I've burned myself more than I can say.
If you do this twist back and forth it won't drip. I keep twisting before I put
it in the floral and then move some flowers out of the
way and put your purple berry in. Give it a
minute and that hot glue gun will adhere this
berry to all the other flowers. Now I've built this kit it all comes
together and every flower that's in it is exactly
what you're going to need to make this floral. So you won't run out of any
florals you'll have exactly what you need to make a
balanced floral. The colors that I chose to make this
floral will go with any decor. This is just
fresh and beautiful and the flowers are so
realistic. I'm kind of a flower snob when I choose them
but look how lovely this arrangement is. I don't care where you put it in your
home it's going to be your new happy place.
Now remember everything you need comes in the kit. You're going to have your
flowers, you're going to have your compote,
and you're going to have your green foam. You just need clippers and a hot
glue gun. Now I'm going to put a link to this kit in the description of this
video and I tell you what too if you purchase
it and you make it go follow me on Instagram Jennifer Decorates
and send me a photo of your floral and I'll show it off to everybody.
Thank you so much for making this floral with me today. Everything you need
is in the kit and I'm putting that link to the kit in the description
of this video and I'll see you in the next video.
