Take a look at this video.
A fisherman gets within a few feet of
what appears to be a great white shark.
This all happening in Boston
Harbor on Wednesday, Boston 25.
Lisa Pappas spoke with that fisherman
who got the experience of a lifetime.
A close encounter with a shark.
Thomas Rossi was fishing with his
friend in Boston Harbor last week
when they noticed the fin about
30 yards away. There's almost
the rare occasion that we take
like a slow ride in and.
Just so happened my body was like.
This fan so just checked it out and
as they got closer they couldn't
believe they were just a few feet
away from what appeared to be a
great white. Yeah, holy.
Rossi had to pull out his phone to
capture it safe in the boat like
once in a lifetime opportunity,
so I definitely want to take advantage of it.
I took the video in .5 but it
is the ground 12 feet so.
It was not small according to the
shark tivity app which tracks shark
activity. There's been at least seven
shark sightings off the coast of
Massachusetts just within the last week.
Most of them tend to be off Cape Cod.
Local shark biologists tell us the
densities of white sharks off the Cape
are among the highest in the world.
We're out like striper fishing earlier
on the day we saw like seals and
which wasn't really ideal for us
because they're chasing out all the
bait fish so. We didn't really
think anything of it and then it
kind of all looped together and
made sense. New England shark
experts say the sharks are usually
looking for those seals, not people.
Rossi says this experience won't keep
him from going back out on the
water to fish again this week.
They're like very beautiful fish and
there's definitely something cool to
take in in Boston. Lisa Pappas
for your local station. Boston 25 news.
