Alright, got the pack strapped on the ATV, heading out for a little adventure today, going
to up the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene up near McGee to Trail 323 called the McGee
Bear Trail.
Hiked up partially a couple weeks ago, only went a couple miles but it goes a lot further and
climbs a lot so I'm going today to finish that trail and I'm taking the ATV up there
just because it's a much faster way to get up those into that country.
So about ready to take off and see what happens.
Alright, well we made it to the trailhead here.
About 930, took a little longer than I thought I would getting in here.
Not even 100 yards from the trailhead.
Holy hell look how big this is.
Let me put something in there for scale.
That's my foot.
Oh that's a lot of bear ----.
This part of the trail is so neat.
I've been on this part and it's just a nice gradual uphill.
Really nice walk.
Well, that's all for now.
We've got to traverse this kind of crap for a while.
Okay, here we are.
This is as far as we made it last time.
The trail actually goes up that stream there.
I'm gonna cut over through the brush over here.
Nice little bridge back here.
Can't tell if we've started to climb yet.
Climbing a little bit but we're kind of leveling right here on the drop.
We are seriously starting to climb now.
I'm overheating.
I've got too many clothes on.
All right, packed up.
Feeling good now though, cooling down.
Just about ready to start back up.
Up, up we go.
Starting to get some elevation now.
The uphill is not as bad as I thought, dare I say.
Could be.
Hopefully that's the top.
Maybe a false peak.
Last night we had some good times and we lit up the town.
We had to keep it rolling.
We want the sun is shining on a peaceful morning.
It's too bright here for me.
The birds are singing a perfect melody but it's too loud here for me.
Last night we had some good times.
Well, the trail or the hill I thought that was McGee Peak isn't.
Of course, I haven't gotten anything else right as far as my estimation.
So why would that be right?
But the good thing is it didn't, the trail didn't go over that hill.
It just wrapped around.
So I'm keeping going.
It's still going uphill but it's much gradual now.
So a lot easier.
I can make some time, stretch out my legs a little bit.
More and more views.
We'll have some good times and we'll light up the town.
And now we'll get it started.
We want and this thing sitting way up here.
Look at that.
Will you?
Made it five miles back to 534.
That is a long ass five miles.
I'll tell you what.
All right, we're all packed up.
Ready to walk this five miles back.
All my water's in my camelback now.
Got one more beer.
We'll make a stop back there on the ridge.
A lot of good spots to stop back there.
But yeah, let's do it.
We got one mile of good uphill.
Now there's little uphills on the way back.
But there's one mile of tough uphill.
And it's the first mile.
So let's get it on.
Oh, I don't know if you can pick that up right there.
But a little snow still up here.
I'm almost back up to the weather station.
You might be able to see the tip top up there.
I don't know.
It didn't seem as far this time as it did when I went down.
But I'm slogging up the hill.
Here we are again.
One more look at this incredible place.
Just had a great break.
Able to kind of soak it in a little bit.
Wow, I'm just flying down this hill.
We are at the switchback already.
I am kind of going pretty fast down.
All right, well, I made it down off the hill now.
Back into the forest floor.
It's still downhill, but a lot thicker now.
And we're back into the bear sign.
Didn't see it much up top, but it's definitely all around here.
It's a pretty trail.
Pretty neat.
All right, we have made it.
Good hike.
